Anger Thread!

ok so here's how this thread will work: you "rant" about something thats pissing you off, it doesn't have to be something in the world of metal. try not to make them too long and also try to make them entertaining, next person rates the rant above out of 10 then posts their own and so on ok here we go getting really pissed off with these people who refuse to listen to certain bands because of their lyrics. For fuck sake you're listening to metal stop being a little pussy and avoiding bands because their lyrics are "too evil" or "satanic" or whatever. Who really pays attention to lyrics anyway, half these bands you'd need to actually google the lyrics to understand them. I don't exactly agree with certain Slayer lyrics i.e. Disciple, but I listen to them anyway, you know why? because they fucking rock that's why.

Re: The Rant Im getting Pissed of when ppl says im gay and metal is gay, and so on, I don't know why they say so, I don't say anuthing about their music, But i belive that Metal is to ''hard'' for them, and they call me Emo and stuff, hmr when i was playin WoW a couple years ago, i met some swedish dudes who liked Thrash metal, i like some to, but anyway, i said i like death metal and so on, After a while they started to call me Emo, Becuse they said that emos listen to Death metal Becuse of their ''depressive'' lyrics, I don't have anything Against Emos, just so you know, But im not an emo, And i can't understand why They called me an emo for liking Death metal. If someone can help me to understand this, or agreeing w me, It would be Nice ;3

I definitely pay attention to the lyrics. That's why I don't listen to tripe like Five Finger Death Punch, because Crips and Bloods have larger vocabularies. I'm sick of Amon Amarth's preachy anti-Christian songs - they're not an intellectual band and they shouldn't try to be. I dislike Crytopsy and Necrophagist because their lyrics are straight-up revolting. Anata and Fleshgod Apocalypse proliferate a very anti-God message. Are these bands technically talented? Yes. But I'm not going to pay them to push their vitriol, no matter how good they might be. I refuse to pay bands to write material that spreads a message antithetical to what I believe. Even with a band like Nevermore I still don't buy something like 'Born', but I'm willing to buy 'My Acid Words'. Well, dang. No room left for my rant. But trust me, I've got plenty to complain about. The Metal Advisor knows that...

Re: The Rant

You shouldn't listen to ffdp because they suck and aren't Metal. That's what pisses me off. Bands being labeled as Heavy Metal when there is absolutely nothing Metallic about them. FFDP, Trivial, Blowjob for a Cowboy, Blowjob for my Valentine, Chimera, Lamb of Suck, etc... are NOT HEAVY METAL! They're shitty hardcore nonsense! Know your styles and label them accordingly.

Re: The Rant nice, those pussy "hardcore" bands wouldn't know metal if it was right in front of them, they're basically just my chemical romance (yeah a band so shit I'm not even going to bother with correct grammar) with pointeir guitars. channeling Eddie Trunk on this one but the rock and roll hall of fame, or should it be shame, seriously why are there so few rock bands in there? you know who should be in there? Alice Cooper, you know who shouldn't even be considered? ll cool j, you know who else should be in there? Rainbow, Kiss, Dio, Motorhead, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Deep Purple, UFO etc. At this point in time bands that do get in should not be proud of it. ps I live in Australia and don't hear all that much about what bands are up for nominations etc so if any of the bands I listed actually are in please tell me

But seriously, would you consider Benighted metal then? They're a French group which incorporate breakdowns and pig squealing but don't really suck on the level of Oceano. One might call them deathcore but they seem just a bit too capable to be branded so.

Re: The Rant people who say I'm not metal because I don't have long hair, since when did the length of one's hair have anything to do with the music they like? I'w wearing a fucking Slayer tee and you're saying I'm not metal? In what reality are Slayer not considered metal? Here I thought we were passed the days where you had to look a certain way to be considered metal

Re: The Rant So are Rob Halford and Scott Ian, I've tried growing my hair long but it just doesn't work, it goes all curly and stupid, so I keep it short, the funny thing is that the guy who said I wasn't metal for not having long hair was wearing an avenged sevenfold tee, talk about not being metal

Re: The Rant 10/10 for reminding me about that ranting about headbangers ball, don't know how it is elsewhere but here half the clips they play aren't even metal, Escape The Fate, Guns 'n' Roses etc are NOT metal bands, and the songs that are metal just plain suck i.e. Metallica's Fuel, seriously 3 weeks in a row they've played that, it sucked when it first came out and it hasn't gotten any better, MTV I'd be happy to teach you about metal, I wouldn't even charge you for it

I'm not saying that you called them Metal, I'm just venting that they're associated with Metal when they're not. As far as Benighted, I've never heard of them.

Re: The Rant ranting about people not following the rules (pot calling the kettle black I know) the rules are clearly stated in the first post of this thread, If I knew no one would pay attention to them I wouldn't have bothered making them. Come on people at least try to follow the rules

Re: The Rant Where I work I unfortunately get to field a lot of phone calls. Nothing enrages me more then having to answer the same fucking question(s) asked by the same person over and over and over again. What part of "ONLY" didn't you understand the first 30 times?

Re: The Rant 8/10 for your rant NTNR, there is nothing more annoying then having to repeat the same thing over and over again ranting about the fact that people still aren't following the rules, maybe I should emphasise this FOLLOW THE RULES!!! I know they're boring but they're kinda what makes this a forum game instead of just a bitch sheet, hey maybe thats what I should have called this thread

What paperwork they need to bring my company for our services. There are certain things they can bring and most people, after you've told them "Only this item or this item will work." will ALWAYS ask if something you didn't mention or something you said no to would work. It's painfully annoying.

Re: The Rant being asked the same question repeatedly, I had to make an important phone call today to get something sorted out, and when I finally got through to the right person they asked me the same question about 10 different ways, if I've answered your question how about you ask me something else, don't keep asking the same thing hoping I'll give a different answer because I won't. also ranting about being put on hold 20 minutes at a time to reach the right department, I ended up being on the phone for 90 minutes on what should only have been a 10 minute matter

Re: The Rant lol, 10/10 ranting about those really annoying people who knock on your door and try to sell you something or convert you to their religion, whilst it is entertaining to see the reactions of the JW weirdos that come knocking at my door when I open it wearing a heavy metal tee and blasting some of the most extreme metal I can find I find it very annoying that these people feel compelled to do nothing more then irritate people who are trying to relax at home. I have however thought of a solution to this problem, I think it would be highly unlikely that they would come near my home if I had a pet crocodile, hmmm good thing I live in Australia we've got lots of those...laughs in a very sinister fashion, also ranting about being sober for way too long, how I can tell its been too long? I'm trying to be funny

The few missionaries that I've encountered have been clueless as to the giant pentagram on my Venom shirts meaning. The same went for when two girls showed up and I was wearing my Amon Amarth shirt sporing a large Thor's hammer. They were painfully/shamefully clueless when I brought up the pantheon of Norse (and shockingly even Greek) Gods.

Re: The Rant I've always been fascinated by the mythologies of other cultures be it Greek mythology, Norse mythology, Egyptian etc, I think maybe these missionaries would be more clued in if I just hung an inverted cross on my front door, clearly they don't get the pentagram. honestly though they would stand a better chance of converting Kerry King to christianity then me

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
