  1. I agree with you, definitely, but again it's part of the new experience I want. I can play keyboards and do vocals at the same time in ORCumentary. Many bands that influenced me to start this have backing tracks that they use live, and if we develop a system that works for us i'm confident that technical difficulties will be minimal. I really want to do the two vocalist thing as well, and if I was playing the keys then to compensate the vocal duties would have to shift in favor of the other vocalist. In the post/ad I put that I want the keys to be a backing track and the drummer I am auditioning this week said he was interested. This is all in the early stages, so as I get a lineup together and we start writing music, we'll learn what works and what doesn't. I really want there to be keys in this music but I also really want to only do vocals live, so I guess i'll find out if I can have my cake and eat it too.
  2. The band i'm working on now is definitely going to be "serious" in tone. I have a pretty specific vision of what I want: industrial/melodic death metal with (potentially) two vocalists (second vocalist would strictly do cleans. I will be doing harsh vocals, keyboard (not live though, I want the keys to be on a backing track) and most if not all lyrics. I also don't want the music to be overly technical/progressive; just straight-forward, energetic, fun music.
  3. I've been wanting to be in a full band for a long time, and I think i'm finally ready. I made a post on my facebook about it and got a few interested people for all instruments aside from bass. This week i'm planning on auditioning a drummer. I think because I've been doing ORCumentary so long it helped me find musicians who are more serious and dedicated to making music. I'm still going to do ORCumentary, but i'm looking for a new musical experience.
  4. It is definitely "the single", but it sounds pretty good. If this is the worst track on the new album, the album is going to be great.
  5. I saw Noah this past Sunday. As an atheist, I wasn't expecting to like it very much, but it was excellent! It was a very clever and interesting retelling of the story we all know but from a very human perspective. "God" is referred to as "The Creator" and the film isn't preachy at all (It's not christian propoganda). The first half i'd give a 7/10, but the second half (once everyone is on the ark) i'd give a 10/10. The second half was very intense thanks to a brilliant and daring twist, which led to award-worthy performances from the main actors. The only flaw I found with the movie was a couple bad CGI scenes in the first half (obvious green screen shots, poor cgi as some of the animals were going into the ark). They really could've used another like 10 million in the budget to clean that up. So overall i'd give it an 8/10
  6. So my summer tour is not happening. Dates weren't coming together. I'm working on getting something together for the fall though.
  7. Within Temptation: The Silent Force Within Temptation: Mother Earth Dead By April: Incomparable (Mystery Version)
  8. I've also been listening to a lot of Fear Factory lately. I need to pick up Concrete/Soul Of A New Machine.
  9. Vext - Impermanence (EP) Listening to this EP again after a while brought back really good memories. For those unfamiliar, Vext is (was? not sure how active they are) a band that has Tommy Vext (ex Divine Heresy) on vocals. I loved Divine Heresy, especially Bleed The Fifth (the album he sang on) and a couple years ago I was lucky enough to open for Vext. It was a last minute thing, the promoter posted the morning of the show that they had a band drop off and they needed another band last second. I responded and they said I was on! I also got to meet Tommy and hang out with him for a bit. It was a very cool experience.
  10. Oh yeah, definitely. I want my first "real" vacation to be somewhere with stunning landscapes. I'd also really like to go to Ireland.
  11. My dream vacation is definitely New Zealand. As a huge LOTR fan I really want to go to the Hobbit village, plus one of their national parks is where they did a lot of filming of the LOTR movies. I'd love to honeymoon there
  12. I've been listening to a lot of Threat Signal today. I'm not digging it like I used to, but maybe that's because i've heard their first and third albums a lot and their second album is somewhat ruined by a weak guitar tone.
  13. So now I have 4 tour dates confirmed for my summer tour! I posted a thread about it in the Events section, if anyone's interested.

  18. The past couple days have been dominated by Mnemic, Paradise Lost, Disarmonia Mundi, Jolly, Scar Symmetry, and Divine Heresy.
  19. I've been getting into Within Temptation lately. I haven't bought any of their stuff, but I plan on it soon; they'll be touring with Amaranthe in the fall and I have to get caught up
  20. I'll be going on vaca with my fiancee in the last week of May. Unfortunately, I just found out that Threat Signal will be in town while i'm away. Not that knowing ahead of time that they'd be in town would've changed our plans, but I haven't seen them live since 2010 and i've been dying to do so again. They've come around at least 2 or 3 times between then and now, but i've missed them each time
