Ok I have been revisiting some DM classics of late and whilst I simply do not have the time for a 100 list I will post current rediscoveries here (if I remember). P.s. if anyone can instruct me on how to link YouTube vids to here I will do so but I cannot see the option on the reply option. First up we have Seance "Fornever Laid To Rest" - often billed as a "forgotten" swedish dm band Seance share little in the way of sound from their more melodic contemporaries. Seance's delivery of DM is more aggressive and brutal and they do it well, rightly receiving plaudits for their violent sound. "Fornever..." was their debut full length in 1992 and is just straight up old school death metal, I have read reviews that point out the technical edge to the sound but I believe that is just due to the audibility of the bass more than anything else.

Sickening Gore "Destructive Reality"

Serpents Lair "Circumambulating the Stillborn" - okay it has a stupid title but the record itself is great. Well structured BM with some nice ritualistic vocals. Death Fortress "Among the Ranks of the Unconquerable" - yep, stupid album name number two and although not as enjoyable as my first entry this week it has still kept me company well up in the cold moorlands of Cumbria nicely this week with its creeping thin guitar sound. Swallowed "Lunarterial" - probably one of my favourite DM records from last year, doomy yet not afraid to blast also. Hooray for Finland!

Briefest of catch ups with JBaker today on FB and he is hoping to stop by here again soon.

Cruciamentum "Charnel Passages" - nice slab of old school sounding dm, that also has quite a "big" sound too without seeming polished.

I can only think to say good luck with it. Hope it all plays out for the best. On the Macabre front me and the better half are celebrating 8 years together this weekend (actually next Tuesday officially but, well yeah I am away). To celebrate she bought me two skulls, a teaspoon in the shape of a skull and some chocolate skulls and some whiskey - just to prove why she knows me better than any other and also why she is the queen of my heart like!

Erm. That lengthy biographical opening post is just the longest band plug I think we have ever had on the board. He might come back and prove me wrong but I doubt it. I will apologise if he does.

No such luck, we moved house and I only have a shed now. I prefer to call it my Institute for Anatomical Research though.

Fucking hell, the gf has arranged a birthday party for her sister at our house and that means all the racist, drunken, immature and frankly abhorrent dross that usually appear at these events for her family will rock up and make a scene inevitably. Checked into my hotel this week and found a huge damp patch on the roof which had been poorly painted over. Fast forward to the following morning and I wake up feeling like I have been kicked in the chest. One complaint later to the Emo kid on reception sees me moved to another room and he says "just to let you know, this isn't an executive suite". Seance "Fornever Laid To Rest" Had a listen to Nous last night. Not a lot wrong with them to be fair but just a bit "meh" overall. Autokrator have been placed on the "return to" list as my head couldn't cope with them last night (ears aren't doing brilliantly at present as it is). Above all impressed with the mentality of the delivery, it is what it is - straight up, no frills, don't give a fuck extreme metal - but not for me right now.
