  1. They have never bettered "Blessed..." for me. That album was a step up from "Altars..." in terms of being much darker and having the added substance that "Altars.." lacked (great album though it still is). "Covenant" is a good album but always sounds a bit thin guitar wise for my liking the more I listen to it.
  2. I am actually ahead of you there FA. I dug out the CD this morning and am uploading it to my cloud - should have at least a couple of free nights to myself in the hotel this week so no more perfect an opportunity will arise I am sure.
  3. After having to buy a new car battery this morning I am now doubly looking forwards to a night out this evening to celebrate my friend turning 40.
  4. Vastum "Hole Below" Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  5. Listened to "The Karelian Isthmus" last night again. Nothing to not like but nothing I can remember today, it just passes me by. Riff wise it has me written all over it but longevity wise I struggle with it. I can't reference it enough to consider it one of my favourites despite (as already stated) there being nothing wrong with it. EDIT Re: RO's list, pleased to see love for Ulcerate and Cryptopsy (that fucking drumming) and "....For Victory" is a great call. Not sure on Behemoth as a DM record but can't get away from how great an album it is. The Incantation call is superb but for me "Pierced from Within" beats the Suffocation option in there.

  7. Risking your child's life (and your own) by crossing open sea, often in little more than a dingy, to give your child the chance to live without fear of persecution or death at the hands of terrorists is one of the bravest and most selfless acts I have ever heard of. 8. Darkthrone "Under a Funeral Moon" Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  9. Second mention for "Karellian Isthmus" and I didn't really get on with it - might revisit at the weekend. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  10. My two penneth. We are too transactional as human beings, certainly in our interaction with one another. We have developed some bizarre awards interpretation engine that means (as Ghouly alludes to) we now have to qualify a fellow humans need before determining their right to something. The example of the vets is a good one, the media play their fantastic game of blaming the shortcomings of meeting social needs of people on immigration. Immigrants are deemed "less" needy because they never served and killed for their country so should be isolated away from the resources they so desperately (and clearly) need. Humans are dicks! 12. More, most definitely. Anyone with cats hasn't the time to make lengthy posts like that. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

  14. Ok I have been revisiting some DM classics of late and whilst I simply do not have the time for a 100 list I will post current rediscoveries here (if I remember). P.s. if anyone can instruct me on how to link YouTube vids to here I will do so but I cannot see the option on the reply option. First up we have Seance "Fornever Laid To Rest" - often billed as a "forgotten" swedish dm band Seance share little in the way of sound from their more melodic contemporaries. Seance's delivery of DM is more aggressive and brutal and they do it well, rightly receiving plaudits for their violent sound. "Fornever..." was their debut full length in 1992 and is just straight up old school death metal, I have read reviews that point out the technical edge to the sound but I believe that is just due to the audibility of the bass more than anything else.
  15. Serpents Lair "Circumambulating the Stillborn" - okay it has a stupid title but the record itself is great. Well structured BM with some nice ritualistic vocals. Death Fortress "Among the Ranks of the Unconquerable" - yep, stupid album name number two and although not as enjoyable as my first entry this week it has still kept me company well up in the cold moorlands of Cumbria nicely this week with its creeping thin guitar sound. Swallowed "Lunarterial" - probably one of my favourite DM records from last year, doomy yet not afraid to blast also. Hooray for Finland!
  16. Briefest of catch ups with JBaker today on FB and he is hoping to stop by here again soon.
  17. Cruciamentum "Charnel Passages" - nice slab of old school sounding dm, that also has quite a "big" sound too without seeming polished.
  18. To start tonight. Really intense and robust flavour (higher % innit) Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
