  1. Hold up, am I hearing, from literally the only other Funeral Doom fan here, that dreariness can’t be the point of something? My guy more than half that shit is slower than a geriatric snail on muscle relaxantsmore than half that shit is slower than a geriatric snail on muscle relaxants, more dreary then English weather, ok clearly I’m just poking a little bit of fun, but dreary can totally be the point of something. I mean, how is that any different to weirdness being the point of Portal?,
  2. That’s fair, forums, like this, would get pretty boring, if we all had exactly the same taste in metal.
  3. Sadistic Force - Midnight Assassin (2024) }USA} This is pretty fun, blackened speed metal, a bit like Witchery with more grunt.
  4. You’re not wrong, life is killing me would certainly be the band at their most accessible. That hole Gothic metal/rock thing kind of started with Bloody Kisses, an album I enjoy more than October rust, but less than world coming down. Actually the debut is radically different to the aforementioned Gothic metal/rock sound. It’s kind of like a doomy Carnivore.
  5. I think life is killing me was the first TON album I heard, think I worked backwards through their discography from there, and somehow always forgot about Dead again.
  6. Ursünde - Cathartic Black Terror (2024) {Germany Ah now that’s a shame, an enjoyable BM demo that’s done in 15mins…I mean how is one supposed to make offerings to the goat horned deity in such a short amount of time? All kidding aside this is actually pretty good}
  7. The Ruins of Beverast - Rain upon the Impure (2006)
  8. Peste Noire - La sanie des siecles (2006)
  9. Asphalt Grieving - Lack of Certainty (2024) {Chile} forgettable Black/Death Astral Fortress - Visions of a New Beginning (2024) {USA} Atmospheric/DSBM
  10. Reiterating, what the goat man said: if vocal style was all that mattered when determining what genre a band belong in children of boredom would be Death Metal. we all know that isn’t the case as the music surrounding those vocals has much more Orite to power metal, also they’re really boring or is that just me?
  11. Re TON I would say Slow, Deep & Hard is probably the album of theirs. I play the most, though I enjoy most of whathey put out. On Swedeath Grave are probably the most consistent band from that scene, as far as quality goes. Borknagar have one album I like, and Enslaved are a mixed bag, I really don’t go for their more progressive stuff.
  12. Well dive right in, I promise we don’t bite… Well, not that often, anyway
  13. Abhorrea - Depths (2024) {USA} Hmm this is kind of confused, at least that’s how it sounds to me. There are some interesting ideas here but overall mid tier black/Death
  14. Infernal greetings to thee… or you know welcome aboard. Most of us prefer the more extreme side of metal, so you’ll probably fit in just fine.
  15. Ancient North - The Dark Ages (2024) {USA} it’s quite rare to find symphonic black metal where the symphonic elements don’t detract from the overall package. On first listen I’d say this manages that balance quite well though. Admittedly, I’m only about a quarter of the way through.
  16. I mean, tempting, but I’m gonna say no… And by no, I mean hell no… Find like 99% sure that being Australian my heart would literally stop if I ever experienced that kind of cold. Also my problem just required me doing a system restore to a couple of weeks ago to fix while yours could be literally anything, my vague understanding of how to fix simple to moderate PC issues isn’t gonna help you, I’m afraid.
  17. Good news, i’ve got my computer working again, a task which has literally taken the entire day.
  18. A/Oratos - Ecclesia Gnostica (2024) {France} Black Metal with the melodic sensibility you’d expect. I think this would be better without some of the out of place clean/spoken word sections.
  19. That’s interesting, and while I do agree that discovering an album years if not decades, after it was originally recorded, doesn’t give you the same feeling as being there in the moment it doesn’t stop me from being struck by some Albums that I’ve found after the fact. Actually, mine could be a somewhat unique case as my metal journey essentially started with the 70s and 80s, hard rock or traditional metal bands uncovering thrash several he is later, then stumbling onto the extreme metal side of things further down the line. And even then I started with the early death and black metal scenes before progressing into the 90s, and beyond, almost like I started at the beginning of the heavy music timeline and progressed through in a linear fashion.
  20. Well I guess it’s time I give my two cents as well: Dreamweaver get my vote purely for the melody line in Clerical Conspiracy which always makes me think of the John Williams, Star Wars score for some reason. Apart from that, I find both albums interchangeable, I would probably listen to the Japanese Sabbat more often. Re Dark Angel I think darkness descends is probably the best work, time does not heal a close, second, but I never liked leave scars at all.
  21. A/Oratos - Ecclesia Gnostica out Jan. 19 listening to the preview on BC, it seems somewhat typical of the French black metal style.
  22. Abyssal Frost - The Pyre of Flames (2024) Fairly standard black/death. Nothing wrong with this but nothing special either.
  23. Update: I’m installing office again in the hope that resolves the issue, if not, I don’t know what I’m going to do. Edit: all that did was blue screen my PC…
  24. well it would seem that PC issues are doing the rounds here at MF. Currently, I’m unable to open any of my documents, bootup, word, or any other Microsoft programs, just getting a default, the program loaded incorrectly message. Bearing in mind, the computer is barely six months old, and I have a lifetime product, key. I know it isn’t the license for office suite expiring, that’s about all I know.
