Casturn - The Torchbearer Fades (2024) {UK} Hmm I guess I would call this atmospheric black metal, something I’d probably enjoy on a cold winters night when I just want to let the music wash over me, but not something. I’m in the mood for right now.

Yeah re Table I think I was enamoured by their sound having a little more black metal, then some other new releases. I’ve been checking out which, for the most part, just Dimmu clones with paper thin guitar tone. I don’t think it’s a bad album, but I don’t enjoy it enough to actually purchase. That EP though is cool I guess I hear more autopsy influence on the faster sections. Anyway I Think people around here, value your opinion, but my comment was more meant to contrast our differing taste in BM… until I remembered that one. You don’t view all melodic black metal as blasphemy, and two. Our tastes on that front actually aren’t that different a lot of the time. NP: Podrodào / Convulsive - Convulsively Rotness split Coming back to what might be my favourite new release of the year so far

Table - Journey to Beyond (2024) {Finland} Liking this melodic black metal, not sure the old goat would approve, however. Purulency - Transcendent Unveiling of Dimensions EP (2024) {USA} Pretty good Autopsy influenced death metal, just wish it was longer than 18 minutes

yeah I had a few Stone IPAs when I was in LA a few years back, if I could get that particular, one here, I’d snap it up in a heartbeat. when I was in LA a few years back, if I could get that particular, one here, I’d snap it up in a heartbeat. As for me well, I swung by a couple of breweries yesterday first was Big Shed Brewing for a hazy ale probably the second best of the four beers I knocked back there, had almost a hint of pineapple it, which I’ve not had in a beer before. What they call their American and Australian style ales were completely forgettable but their golden ale was very unique. I liked that one enough to pick up a four pack. Taste a little bit like butterscotch, anyway, then it was on to Shapeshifter brewery for a perfectly average Pilsner and a passable hazy ale.

I am much too lazy to go back and multi quote so instead, I’ll just rattle off the things I want to say here: One. Navy congrats on making me insanely jealous, MDB our second only two Death as my all-time favourite band, and I’d give what is left of my eyesight to catch them, live one day, I also hear BG are great live so it’s good to know from someone with firsthand experience. That’s the case if they ever make their way down under. 2. For me Neon Black is peak Nevermore though I will admit that’s largely because that was the first of their albums I ever heard, godless endeavour is second and politics of ecstasy is third in my books. 3. Hell yeah James MDB have the best discography out of the Peaceville three, it’s not flawless, but there are a lot of high points in there. NP: Fuck…I’m Dead - Another Gory Mess

Slower - Slower (2024) {USA} okay so I’m not going to lie. I felt like a complete idiot after it took me a solid five minutes to realise these are just Slayer covers slowed right down, and down, tuned to what I think is B standard. In my defence playing those tracks, this slowly gives them a completely different feel, but at the end of the day it’s a novelty album. I’d listen to once, and then forget about.

Most would say Gorguts’ less conventional death metal sound is where they truly excel, personally I find this something enjoyable about most of their discography. less conventional death metal sound is where they truly excel, personally I find this something enjoyable about most of their discography. NP: B4rbar4 - Forfeiture of Repentance (2024) {Czech Republic} okay, so getting the obvious out of the way that’s a stupid name for a band, now it is entirely possible that’s just my text to speech software not reading things correctly but otherwise come on… now, for the music, no frills death metal, it’s certainly done well, just don’t expect this album to reinvent the club, the one we’ve got still works just fine for bludgeoning people over the head… it’s just dawned on me that we are barely over a month into 2024, and already I’ve heard the same amount of new releases for this year that I did in the entirety of 2023

Re B…tA if I want something atonal I have Gorguts, Portal, etc etc, maybe one day, it will click but for right now I don’t see the appeal. NP: Gorguts - Obscura

It’s a pretty fun album actually, I remember the hearing Midnight Assassin about a week ago. I still stand by my assessment. The band is more along the lines of Witchery then say Evil Angel but there’s nothing wrong with that.

Nah he had it right the first time. BtA might understand songwriting better than Spawn of Possession, but that’s like saying Hungry Jack’s (Burger King for you Americans) know how to make a better burger than McDonald’s either way within an hour you’re going to regret your life choices. NP: Evil Angel - Unholy Fight For Metal
-
Podridáo / Convulsive - Convulsively Rotness split (2024) {Brazil} Old-school sounding death metal, initial thoughts this isn’t bad.

I must admit, even though I’m probably the biggest Doom fan on the forum, even I can’t get into Drone. NP: Grave - Into the Grave

That’s great at all, many of us here, have hobbies, but I think it’s important to ask yourself, whether this is the appropriate space to share your revelations, no pun intended, about Christianity or religion, more broadly. That’s great and all, many of us here have hobbies, but I think it’s important to ask yourself whether this is the appropriate space to share your revelations, no pun intended, about Christianity or religion more broadly. For a point of reference, consider this: the sport of cricket is one of my hobbies, but I wouldn’t with absolutely no other context start going on an extended rant about how misleading players statistics can be, or how the rules of the game need to be changed to remedy some perceived floor within the sport. partly because I don’t care enough to make the argument, but mostly because I know literally no one else here would care.

I really should try and make more time to just sit down and read, well okay in my case, sit down and listen to an audiobook, but you get the idea. I was, for a time, reading through the song of ice and fire series by George R.R Martin, but with no sign of the pen ultimate book coming any time soon it seems increasingly likely that tail will never get finished and, as someone who really needs to know how things finish. Once I’m invested that’s not going to work for me. It’s the same reason I finished the Game of Thrones show even though blast three seasons were absolutely abysmal.

The best answer is to seek help, unfortunately, venting to strangers on the Internet isn’t likely to help improve your mental health, but finding a good counsellor, one you can be open and honest with about how you feel, that can do a world of good. You’re 15, so presumably still in school, perhaps your school has a counsellor you could talk to as a first step?

Apple are, fortunately, or not, the only company who build accessibility beaches into their smart products. From a business perspective, it’s kind of smart, any blind or vision, impaired person who wants a smart phone has to buy the iPhone, same goes for the Apple Watch, the iPad Etc.

I’m far too lazy to actually multi quote folks, so I’ll just address the topics here: 1. Deicide have exactly 2 albums that are even worth bothering to check out, and it’s the first two., beyond that they are, at least in my opinion, the most boring, generic, and uninspired, death, metal band on the planet. 2. I dig Morbid Angel but they are the sort of band that either works for you, or don’t, there’s not really a middle ground. 3. I’d rank Inquisition as follows: 1. Nefarious 2.Majestic Throne 3. Magnificent Glorification 4. Bloodshed 5.Ominous Doctrines 6. Obscure Verses 7. Veneration 8. Black Mass 9. Infernal Regions NP: Darkspace - Dark Space III (2007)
-
I agree, there’s not really a weak point, however this resonates with me more at the moment than black mass did, that could just be recency bias though. NP:Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade
-
I don’t know if it’s up on YouTube, but it’s up on my Spotify, as for my thoughts on the album, I like it better than Black Mass For a Mass Grave

Inquisition - Veneration of Medieval Mysticism and Cosmological Violence (2024)

Wolves of Perdition - Ultraviolence (2024) {Finland} Solid enough black metal, i’ve heard worse.
