  1. Re: Which Sub-Genres Have The Best Lyrics? Iron Maiden are the metal kings of storytelling! But I guess that you are ultimately right about the music being the most important thing. After all, some lyrics might be the best poetry the world has ever known but if the music sucks nobody will listen.
  2. Re: lyric game: guess the song Oh nuts, that's the only one I know! P.S. Now I appear to be being offered Bras - I suppose they think that since I don't want a corset I simply must want a bra Since when did I give the impression that I was a transvestite!
  3. Re: Rate and Slate Oh man I am sick of winter here - so cold! Roll on Summer, that's all I can say, though I suppose where you live NTNR a drought is a much more serious prosition, so perhaps just hope for one which isn't too hot. Typical British Goverment, tough, alway the drama queen about everything, especially water shortages! We don't know the half of "water shortages". I't like the snow. Whenever we get a little sprinkling everything grinds to a halt, yet scandanavia manages just fine! P.S. I appear to be being shown an advert for corsets at the bottom of the page! Oh yes, I really want a corset, that'll make me look so masculine!
  4. Re: some good gothic metal bands? I have to violently diagree with the assertion that Within Temptation are like Evanessence (oh dear, I appear to be disagreeing with everybody today)! Evanessence (and I have heard them a fair amount) I feel are really quite lazy in their song writing, O.K. vocal melody and cockie-cutter chord progs and all very, very simple, letting potentially good songs become boring due to lack of work. Temptation are very original, and their musical skills and Sharon's voice are also of a much higher quality. The lyrical content too is entirely different. Boy, now I come to think about it, I can't find much similarity between them at all except that I suppose they are both gothic metal.
  5. Re: Rate the song above you! Mn, this one is much better ! 7/10. Re. Breadfan, though. At least Budgie wrote the song! Anyway, I guess I have to post now so try this, this is one of my all-time favourite songs! 2B5TA5oerk8
  6. Re: Rate the song above you! Not really for me, a bit repetative and unimaginative 5/10. How about this little blast from the past. I mean like waaaayyyyyyyy back! s3-l_T6AuNk
  7. Re: Megadeth - Endgame I love this album - it is fast and furious in a way I have not heard anywhere else! I especially love the way the opening of Dialectic Choas is like one great long guitar solo which leads brilliantly into This Day We Fight!
  8. Re: Jeanphi from Exuviated Belgium Welcome, friend! I really hope that you are a chatty guy because we are in dire need of a few more chatters!
  9. Re: lyric game: guess the song Don't fear the reaper? P.S. Nice idea Murph!
  10. Re: Internet Comedy That is really funny BlutAusNerd! Though I have to say, as a Britisher I have never heard that thing about a ring in the right ear being a symbol of being gay. On the other hand, jewlery does seem to be looked down on as effeminate here - which is part of the reason why British women find the native men so unsatisfactory and prefer Australians. I myself am cool with male jewlery, though I do not generally wear it myself. Still, I'm the guy with shoulder length King Charles I hair! Talking of English, you guys might find this funny. For the uninitiated, the monkey, very imaginatively called Monkey, started life as the mascot for the now bust ITV Digital TV channel. However, so loved was he that PG Tips, the tea company who used to do the chimp ads, took him on as their mascot. Here he is in his own unique version of the Queen's Christmas message (personally, a snooze I happily ignore at Christmas ). NBzKiuvORSQ
  11. Re: Rate and Slate Rating: The British Museum Slating: The fact that there is so little rain at the moment that there are warnings of a drought (yeah right, like we ever really get one of those in the U.K. ) yet the air where I am is still damp and nasty and bloody cold!
  12. Re: some good gothic metal bands? Erm, NTNR, I thought that the general opinion was that there was no such think as a Symphonic/Trad was not a genre as to was too much variation between power/progressive/gothic symphonic bands Anyway, my simple definition of gothic metal is it's dark yet lyrical atmophere, generated by beautiful lyrics and the counterpoint of high-pitch singing with low-pitch riffs and chord prgressions. I could try and be more specific, but I think that BlutAusNerd has already done a splendid job ! Iceni, I love your taste ! I love April Rain as an album. On the subject of Delain (as Martijn Westerholt fell ill and had to leave this next band just before they became big), I would also like to recommend trying some later Within Temptation. The earlier albums are very folky, but The Heart of Everything is really, really worth a listen and I personally love The Unforgiving - though it does come with a health warning for those who are allegic to a perhaps slightly poppy sound !
  13. Re: Which Sub-Genres Have The Best Lyrics? Ah well, all I can say is that I love Nightwish and their lyrics, which I honestly believe are amongst the best in metal. As to whether they are very Disney, I suppose that such songs as "The Beauty and the Beast" show a certain leaning, but most such as "Wishmaster" and "The End of All Hope" are definately not.
  14. Re: Which Sub-Genres Have The Best Lyrics? Er, so? I mean, loads of people like Disney (not me mostly - but I love Shrek!). I think that it's almost illegal for anybody with a daughter not to "love" Disney - despite feeling that intense sense of nausea during each and every film. This surely has not reflection on the quality of their lyrics? And anyway, at least they are peotic and loquacious - with is more than you can say for some bands no matter how great their music. NWAAAR! Death and Blood! Innocents murdered by my handddddddddddddddddddddddd! MWARRRRRR!
  15. Re: Female Players Hey Hey - I love that song - Please Don't Touch Me 'Cause I'm Shaking So Much!
  16. Re: Which Sub-Genres Have The Best Lyrics? Nightwish are neither whiney nor Disney !!!!
  17. Re: Shit Music I've heard that Ferraris fall apart within week and the Lambourgini Guiado has a nasty habit of catching fire!
  18. Re: Rate and Slate Rating - a movie. Slating - my roof. (Warning, this is a silly not meant to be taken seriously !)
  19. Re: Rate and Slate I do because I suck something awful ! Oh, and I totally agree about football and WELL DONE TO ALL YOU WELSH GUYS!!! The Grand Slam - a truly terrific tornament by Wales indeed! (And I say that as a proud Englishman!)
  20. Re: Rate the song above you! 10/10 for this song! Awww, this is so my sort of thing - but I thought a little camp for you Murph ! Anyway, how about this - maybe this time somebody will actually like what I post ! I just love Uillean pipes - possibly the most beautiful instrument in the World. Ever. Ever Ever. PJRBl6DhOcE P.S. What's wrong with Lamb of God!
  21. Re: Which Sub-Genres Have The Best Lyrics? Really? Have you heard Nightwish's lyrics? But if they are not as good then truly your bands' lyrics are the most metallically awsome lyrics of all metal awesomeness...ness !!!
  22. Re: Shit Music Surely that raises a perpetual question of whether to buy and album or a T-shirt? Sounds tricky...
  23. Re: Rate and Slate I wish I could play cricket but the local club is petty-minded, arguementative and not very good - especially where training is concerned !
  24. Re: Shit Music That's my point ! Wow, good range of T-Shirts!
