Aidan given a Damn from agamerwholovesmetal in The Mars Volta - Deloused In the Comatorium
This is the Mars Volta's debut album in 2003. This is a pretty solid album all the way through. Inertactic Esp is insane, and Roulette Dares is one of my all time favourite songs. Drunkenship of Lanterns also vibes. But, it's so chaotic, it's sometimes a bit hard to listen to. Of course, that's their style, but it's a bit insane. Props for the cool packaging, though!
Also, the deep theme of the concept album is pretty cool as well. It's about their friend and past band member who committed suicide.
    7/10

Aidan given a Damn from JJWO in Animals as Leaders: Parrhesia
AAL is one of my favorite instrumental metal prog bands. But this album, released in 2022, really solidified it. I may consider it as their best, if not second best to The Joy of Motion.
Conflict Cartography, Monomyth, The Problem of Other Minds, Red Miso, and Micro-Aggressions are my personal favorites. But every song slaps! It's a more djent-like album, compared to TJOM or Madness. It's definitely shorter than most of their other albums, but imo, sometimes their other albums drag on. This one, while short and sweet, packs a punch.

The album Wisonsin Death Trip is fantastic. Bled for Days is a masterpeice. Highly reccomend.

Aidan given a Damn from DeathMetalBangers in Tool: Lateralus
For some, this is Tool's magnum opus. For me, it's most progressive album, but as you probably know, AEnima is my favourite album of all time. However, this album is phenomenal, a masterpiece of perfect production and magnificent songwriting.
The Grudge is one of my favourite Tool songs. It's an amazing opener. The Patient is a very personal song for Maynard, and is an altogether great track. Schism is obviously their biggest hit, but it's also one of the most progressive tracks on the album, and one of the best. Parabol and Parabola make a perfect duo, and Parabola means a lot to me, because my dad used to sing it as a lullaby to me. Ticks and Leeches is wholly underrated. It's truly amazing. I have nothing else to say about it. Lateralus is my personal favourite of the album. The huge chorus, amazing solo, and just all around epicness really hits hard. Reflection is also super underrated. It's absolutely great. And Triad is an perfect instrumental, albeit the 2 minutes of silence at the end lol.
In conclusion, this albums is absolutely stunning. It takes TONS of listens to appreciate fully, but you won't mind listening to it for hours on end because it's SO DAMN GOOD!

Aidan gave a Damn to Aidan in I feel like I am alone...
I feel the same way! Lots of people my age don't even know what metal is!
My friends pretend to understand it, but they really don't.
I don't mind, because my friends and I like Weezer, and other bands like RHCP and Primus, (i dont just listen to metal )  so we have that in common. i managed to get one friend into metal, and another into animals as leaders, but still, with my casual friends and classmates, none of them like metal.
    Its quite frustrating.

Aidan gave a Damn to Aidan in Iron Maiden - Senjutsu
This album's theme is very good, and interesting to me. I love the samurai, Japanese culture vibe, with some Celtic riffs in there too. It's also more progressive than Iron Maiden normally is.
I also want to point out Nicko McBrain's incredible drumming performances. Stratego, The Writing on the Wall, Darkest Hour, Death of the Celts... These songs really show this amazing drummer's talent.
Senjutsu opens with a slow feel, with those samurai riffs and great vocals. Stratego is an incredible track. It's perfect for driving down a highway at full speed. Or maybe that's because I first heard the song on a highway...
The Writing on the Wall deserves an entire paragraph to itself. The music video is a masterpiece, beautifully animated. The riff, while very cool, does sound like I've heard it before somewhere - it's not the most original riff of all time. But the huge chorus and beautiful, melodic solo makes up for it.
Lost in a Lost World is great, but I feel it drags on a bit too long. Days of Future Past is another great track, with an incredibly catchy chorus and riff. The Time Machine is like Iron Maiden's version of Megadeth's Victory: it uses riffs from past songs, like a tribute to their past, hence the title. Darkest Hour is one of my personal favorites, with the incredible huge chorus and great solo. Death of the Celts is great, but it's too long in my opinion. Same with The Parchment and Hell on Earth.
In conclusion, I love this album, and would rank it among Iron Maiden's best. Tell me your thoughts below!

And anyone who has listened to heavy music in the last 30 years and doesn't know Rob is gay is not worth knowing in the first place.
