  1. Uber heavy and just plain evil, in an understated kind of way.

  3. Aarkanne - Mysterii A freakin' banger
  4. All of this! My BC collection became so unwieldy that I gave up trying to download. So I basically am chained to their library system which only allows sorting alphabetically or date of purchase. I am hopeless if I want to search by genre. Amazon Music Unlimited is pretty much the same way. I was downloading FLACs of stuff I really had to have downloaded but that became too much and I can't be bothered with hard-drives and all of that. Definitely trying to ween myself off the new release rodeo. I am much less actively searching but I do have a steady stream of new releases in my wishlist. I am muuuch more critical now though about what I keep/purchase/recommend.
  5. Thebes - Ziggurat Beyond the Unseen Shroud This is killer. Slightly atmo melo black with vocals that harken to TRoB but maybe better executed.
  6. Gets paid extra for working the graveyard shift. I'll see myself out. But first, I used to listen to Allegaeon, but the thrill is gone. Svrm is reliable. And ambient metal is not for me. NP: Bidroha - Suffer till Death. Nepalese thrash metal!
  7. Great question that no one knows the answer to. This thing could spiral into the rest of Europe, and then other countries like Iran, Israel, Turkey, India, Pakistan, DPRK and especially China, vis a vis Taiwan, could use it opportunistically to grab land and settle scores. That, all at once, would probably look like WWIII, with or without any nuclear exchanges. Or this could remain confined to Ukraine, and the other regional security issues would continue simmer or boil mostly independently. There is every reason to believe that we will descend, eventually, into a global conflict. There is no sustained history or pattern of human existence that isn't tangential or flat-out defined by violent conflict with other humans. So yes, it is inventible that sooner or later we will have WWIII, barring a pretty massive evolutionary change to how we organize, educate and produce and distribute resources.
  8. A nice slab of straight forward thrashy DM from Poland Infernal Agony | SOULCARRION | ð”Šð”Žð”Ąð”· 𝔒ð”ģ 𝔚𝔞ð”Ŋ 𝔓ð”Ŋð”Žð”Ąð”ēð” ð”ąð”Ķ𝔎ð”Ŧ𝔰 (bandcamp.com)
  9. One could even say we are hardwired...to self destruct
  10. Corrupter - Descent into Madness Based on the art I thought this was going to be run-of-the-mill rehashed Swedeath. But this is much heavier, darker and thankfully light on buzz saw guitars. A hint of melodeath, and some heavy doom riffs mixed in.
  11. This one is a head scratcher. Some of it is good, some misses the mark for me. But if you are looking for 'original' or different, try this industrial-slightly melodic, symphonic - black-death - noise offering. Also, they have an Accordion. All those black metal bands using saxophones sound like a bunch of poseurs now. MaelstrÃķm | Thermohaline (bandcamp.com)
  12. This one is killer and would have made my list. Chilean DM Alteration of the Hallow Remains | Blames God | Iron Blood and Death Corporation (bandcamp.com)
  13. That Garfield is awesome haha. And the Rancor is a solid piece. And Dead is obviously correct - metal is a sausage fest, aside from the glorious glam and sleaze metal scenes. I would say 1 in 50 of bands I check out have a female member, and 1 in 100 are all female. My cross-section is not comprehensive and focuses on black-goat-death-thrash, but I find it hard to believe there is more robust representation in prog, or funeral doom, or sludge, or many others. Most fertile ground (see what I did there) for females in metal I would have to say would be retro-doom, power, anything 'symphonic' and maybe metal-core? And honestly most of the time I see a video with a female she is the front and obviously not afraid to play up to the camera (nor should they be - just an observation). My 2 cents but don't overthink it - its just the way it is.
  14. Black metal from Serbia WPV004 | Svartgren | War Productions (bandcamp.com) Svartgren - Prazan grob They have another 2019 full length I am going to check out next, but this one is killer.
  15. Pyromancy - S/T WPT080 | Pyromancy | War Productions (bandcamp.com) Unsigned black/thrsh metal band from Pittsburgh
  16. Very promising EP here of straight forward DM End of Time | Tomb of Annihilation (bandcamp.com)
  17. Worth the wait. I want to say about 50% of these crossed my path for at least a listen. The rest will go into the que. I have been working port/starboard night watch for the past 9 days and am too smoked for metal because my brain is pretty fried already. But some down time back home with the HPs awaits. As always it is awesome to have an expertly compiled list focused entirely on the gnarliest black goat metal to be found.
  18. Altar in Darkness - Memories and Ruins Slightly melodic 2nd wave black from Ukraine. Really well done.
  19. I was not aware of different art for this masterpiece!
  20. I don't know if I can say they are top 5 but I just stumbled across a nifty Peruvian DM band that mixes in some doom and thrash. Nice cavernous vocals. One of those super obscure gems that I love finding. Good for a listen and a few bangs of your filthy head. Hell Trepanner https://helltrepanner.bandcamp.com/album/unholy-proclamations-of-death-and-darkness
  21. Same here. Classic example of a trve cvlt band getting dragged for artistic decisions that moved away from church burning and corpse paint. I also like some of their later stuff. Darkthrone obviously did the same thing but somehow are above scrutiny, even though their recent output is pretty average at best, imo.
  22. Demanifestation (Hymns of Destruction and Nothingness) | Fiat Nox (bandcamp.com) Atmospheric melodic black/death
