I hope you have success in the path you have chosen. :)

I´ve had my struggles with diet changes, dropping caffeine and nicotine and such. I have since determined, that my happiness surely doesn´t come through suffering, thats the path most people try to take to achieve something better. Currently i eat pretty much anything, but reasonable amounts and with enough variety. I am much happier (and feel better too) than i did ie. when trying gluten free or vegatarian diets (not to mention everything from visiting the store to cooking was an intolerable chore). It´s surely a worthy cause to try to drop the things you grow addiction to, and i still wish to drop nicotine.. It´s just tough, really tough. We are all unique (far less so than many wish to believe though) and different things work for different people, some people seem to love the effort it takes to follow a strict diet. :D

See I don't find veganism all that restrictive. The flavors i enjoy go with vegetable based foods very well. As for the caffeine. I've decided to take a slower approach. Drinking green tea no energy drinks or coffee.

I love the Silmarillion. If you're really a fan of Tolkien's world, it's indispensable. First bit is bone dry, but if you're over that hurdle you're in good shape. And it does take on more of a "series of short stories" quality as it goes along.

Children of Hurin is similar but it's in regards to the race of Men during the 1st age ( about 6000 years before the council of rivendell). It also involves conflict with Morgoth much like the Silmarillion.

I'll admit my diet isn't great. I could stand to work more veggiees and fruit in there. I'm working on that.

Do you like Falafel? It's not the best for you if you deep fry it but lately I've been baking it so it's a little better and I use it as a replacement for meatballs and stuff.

I think that can be said of all politics in the 'first world' can't it? Still the wheezing juzztrumpet you call President Trump is at least making sure the rich get richer next GFC.

Politics is boring as boring gets for me to be honest. All I do know is thanks to the inept state government we have here the entire manufacturing industry has died in South Australia. Oh and that government also spent 200 million on a tunnel taking public transport into the heart of the CBD claiming it would save seven minutes at a minimum to the daily commute. In actuality it has saved...12 seconds.

Lmao. Sounds about right. Yeah at this point in time I really only discuss politics as a passive observer. Not the activist I used to be.

You don’t think ‘Bonded by Blood’ sounds just a teeny weeny bit like ‘Kill em All’? You don’t think they sound ‘anything alike’?

I also reckon Chuck Billy sounds a bit like Hetfield with that mid-range bark back in the 90s.

None of you guys hear this?

Upon listening again I hear more similarities. I don't think their the same but I'll concede similarity in style.

Glad to hear it. I don't imagine we're going to change each others minds, but there's no harm in exchanging information. People that don't have vegan diets can get celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, chrons, etc... from too much gluten intake, but vegans tend to rely more on foods with gluten since they have one less food group to choose from. It's a legitimate concern, and all of those are fucking miserable to suffer through, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I try to avoid gluten based protein for that reason. I do eat a lot of soy, but I mix it up between various other plant based proteins such as chickpeas for example or various nut butters. Too much of anything is a negative in terms of nutrition.

Some of them use the same techniques, but they all sound different. I never pegged you as much of a thrasher though, so maybe with less interest comes a more samey vibe from them.

I've never understood that mentality. I would never accuse RiB of being the best Slayer album, let alone any kind of masterpiece. Dry production, half-baked songs and ideas, horrible album flow, I don't get the appeal. It has some good riffs and drumming on it, but it seems like fragmented pieces of a thrash album put into a blender and poured out, only half of the mix is left in the blender after the mix is poured out and served.

I liked Reign in Blood but I would agree it's far from their best work.

Additionally, I cannot understand how Exodus and Metallica sound anything alike, please elaborate.

Guilty as charged. I can abide any lifestyle choice, but people have a right to know what they're getting into. I've had friends and relatives develop health problems from diets like that, one of which decided on a vegan diet when she was pregnant with her second child, and this child's growth and development has been stunted because of it.

It's alright dude, I'm welcome to a discussion. I'm welcome to disagreement. I took no offense and I understood the point of view. Veganism is an ethical choice for me but I grasp that not everyone agrees with it and that's alright.

On the forum at work! I like your style and commitment!

It's a combination of workplace apathy and a crippling internet addiction. Can't wait for you guys to witness my steady decline into nihilism. Or ascent. We will have to get confirmation from the Black Metal board XD.

They lost their way a bit after Fabulous Disaster, but the Rob Dukes led stuff is probably their worst material, and even most of that is decent if you don't mind groove metal.

Not typically my preference but mostly because Pantera left a bad taste in my mouth. But I suppose that's based on ideology rather than musical preference.

Re: Lemmy Vs Chuck Norris oh dear looks like I have to bust out the Chuck Norris jokes-I-mean-facts for example did you know that when the boogeyman goes to sleep at night he double checks his closet for Chuck Norris?

Did you know that when Chuck Norris goes to sleep it's because Lemmy knocked his ass out and went out for a drink.

No buts required. Being older is awesome for a number of reasons. In 2017 things are different to 1977 when 50 was perceived as old and limiting. These days we live in the age of falling barriers. Anything is possible.

Besides, if there's one thing I've learned (and there isn't), it's that nothing is old once you get past that point. I work with people who are turning 30 and they're getting all worried about it, feeling that they're old.

When I'm in my 60s I'll look back at 48 as baby years! In my 80s I'll see my 60s as the prime of life.

I've reached the point in my 20s where 30 no longer seems old.

I would rather listen to Patsy Cline than a lot of the shit metal that turns up in the used section.

Firstly, I 100% agree with you. But secondly, how is the idea about people 'overlooking cassettes' an explanation of the Patsy Cline comment? Aren't these two different, yet equally valid, ideas? Don't answer that, I think I just have too much time on my hands because my wife is out gardening and I'm doing my best to avoid it...

At any rate, I have a little cassette collection of about 8 tapes left over from the 90s. I can't play them of course, but I like to look at them sometimes and remember my youth with nostalgia.

You only really like the first two Patsy Cline albums though, right? After that she went goth rock...

Lmfao. To rebut your second point, I was simply using Patsy Cline as an example of a wayward tape with no home. If people did not overlook tapes, Patsy Cline would be alone in the rejected tapes.

Also bear in mind that I have been on hold getting a customer to another department long enough that I could write lyrics to the hold music. Suffering greatly from work induced brain fry.

Will do. I believe it, I have yet to hear bad exodus. Wish I could say that about just about any of the big 4.

It hardly came down to overdraft fees. If nothing else, bank fees probably kept things afloat even longer, levying people's accounts as part of the ponzi scheme until the bubble finally burst. I'm sure glad we're headed right back to the same thing, I guess 10 years is long enough for amnesia to set it...

American politics is all about slow learning and quick forgetting. Not to mention copious amounts of pork barrel legislature.

  16. 1 minute ago, Requiem said:

Probably neither will the Patsy Cline fans, but I get your point. Some things just aren't meant to co-exist.

What I meant is people would probably not have bought these particular copies, simply because they were on cassette which sucks. Personally I dig the way tapes sound. Vinyl too.

Fabulous Disaster. That bizarre riffing and drumming cadence combined with those venomous Zetro vocal lines trumps the more straightforward assault of Bonded By Blood for me.

I really, really dug Bonded by Blood as well as Exhibit B. Will check out Fabulous Disaster.

I was at a rural market a few years ago and found this old guy selling old CDs and tapes. Amongst the tapes were Warrant, Motley Crue etc. To this day I rue not buying those tapes, even though we don't have a tape player in the house or our cars. It just seemed like the right thing to do and I missed my chance!

I refused to allow the work of metal bands sit next to Patsy Cline's greatest hits. I would not allow it.

My years of call centre working scarred me.  Hiring cars for privileged bastards with more money than sense who genuinely thought because they had a piece of plastic in their wallets that was a link to lots of money that technically didn’t exist in real life that they could throw tantrums like a fucking child because we had no Porsches in stock or their limo driver was late by 20 seconds.

Eventually found my call centre calling when I went to work on effectively a helpline for mental health patients in relapse who needed to talk and be signposted back into our services.  I rang ambulances, called the police when necessary - generally did far more for society and vulnerable people in that 12 month period than I did in 3 years listening to Dicky Fatwallet moan about his first world problems.

I'm sorry to hear that. As of right now this is all I know how to do to make college since in my eternal wisdom at the age of 19 I deemed that institutionalized education was bullet and Id find my own way. What I didn't take into account was that college isn't so easy to get back into once you drop out.
