MetalheadFromBama gave a Damn to Avaline in What is metal for you?
Music. Thats it. Its like certain tracks (that happen to be of the metal genre or not) fall right in to the place where im at. Like a sountrack to my life at a certain point, music just aligns with you. So..i listen to all kind of music..but the songs that stick with me, that arent temporary, that dont (just) belong to a certain "era" of my life and then dissapear, are mostly of the metal genre. So when people ask me what i listen to.. metal is in the first place. Because this soundtrack sticks and keeps coming back. So..metal in general is just a musical genre for me..but certain tracks are a part of me. And that fact will probably never change.

Great song. I was playing this song on Guitar Hero last night.

MetalheadFromBama gave a Damn to RelentlessOblivion in Who was baptized?
I used to wear a cross as a good luck charm (most of the good things to happen in my life were whilst wearing it) but the clasp broke and I lost it. I feel people are free to believe what they wish. That right stops however where it impacts the life of another. It isn't the pushing of beliefs that I refer to but the refusal to take responsibility (blaming an autistic child's behaviour on demons) and the failure to seek proper medical treatment when it is needed.

Stone Temple Pilots "Core" - had this on cassette back in the day and just stumbled across a stream on Amazon Prime. Nostalgia aside, there's only a couple of tracks of any merit on here.

MetalheadFromBama gave a Damn to NTNR in Favourite metal quote
Re: Favourite metal quote "...all day long when we were in school we could hear the metal press from the foundry across the street. You could feel the vibration from the hammers pounding all day long. I think it had a subconscious effect on us. I think we had no choice but to play Heavy Metal being in those surrounds, lol" - KK Downing (Judas Priest)

MetalheadFromBama given a Damn from GorboGorboze in suggestions
The 2 bands that I'm already into are Metallica and Black Sabbath. I'll make sure to look at the thrash forum when I have a lot of free time.
Everybody that has posted on this so far, thanks for posting and giving me information. I really appreciate it.

Hendrix and James are also among the people that made me pick up the guitar. That's awesome that you take so much inspiration from people like that

MetalheadFromBama given a Damn from salmonellapancake in Instruments
I've been playing guitar for 4 years. I was first inspired by country music, because that was the main thing I listened to when I was young. But I was more inspired to play guitar after I got into rock music, because the guitar riffs in rock songs are AWESOME. Sometimes, listening to good guitarists inspires me to play. When I watch Jimi Hendrix play the fool out of his Strat during "Killing Floor" at Monterey Pop, I think "Man, I wish I could play like that." That inspires me. Also, watching School of Rock inspires me to play. I am also inspired to play after listening to James Hetfield's story of playing guitar when he was at Guitar Center.

MetalheadFromBama given a Damn from Aidan in Spirituality through music
For whether on not I find spirituality through music, it depends on what the song is about. For example, Metallica's "Holier Than Thou" reminds me that I shouldn't judge people, because I also have flaws. I find spirituality in this song, because it represents a Bible verse: "Judge not, lest ye be judged."
