There's no wrong way to listen to music as long as it's making you happy. I find that when I'm just listening to stuff to keep up with it - to hear what everyone else is hearing, have an opinion, be part of the conversation, etc - it doesn't make me happy, because I'm listening with some outside goal in mind rather than just being in the moment with the music, and I get burned out really quickly. I could never write for a music blog because if I had to listen to a bunch of new stuff in that mindset I'd just start to hate everything within a week or two. So the best way for me to enjoy new music is to only try new stuff when I'm in the right mood, and if it happens to grab me, I stick with it and wind up listening daily for a while, and keep that kind of intake to one or two albums at a time. I'm also an "albums" guy... I want to like a full album, so if there are only one or two good tracks and then a bunch of filler I don't stick with it. But that's just me. If it's important to you to listen to everything and have informed opinions about it, that's great. Maybe take some notes so you don't forget your favorites.
