I was a fifteen and a freshmen in '85 and the kid with a locker next to mine had a Dio poster likely this one...
 
That is a patch there, but the image was the same I think the Holy Diver without the guy in the water, anyway I thought the kid was a Satanic freak, naturally, and that Dio must be really bad news. The year before I'd enjoyed the song Last In Line and had no idea that is was Dio, so there you go. The next year was '86 and I got turned onto Iron Maiden, so there you go.

I LOVED Bowie. My friends used to laugh at me for digging Bowie, but I always saw his influence. If any metal fan is interested, The Man Who Sold The World is a good place to start.

Very saddened to hear of David Bowie's passing. I'm not super familiar with his work but even I understand his influence on rock music.

Moral of the story: don't be an English rockstar who is approaching the age of 70.

My news, just got an email from my Director and he has promoted me and handed me a nice pay rise.  Just what the doctor ordered.

yeah I hid it for most of it too. it was full of fucking idiots who didn't care what they were saying; loads of weird comments about jews and racisms and shit and loads of people saying 'who's this dickhead' when speakers came up and other fuckery. It was a great memorial and a true testament to a genuinely brilliant man.

Better late then never. I didn't start listening to Rainbow until after learning of Dio's death.

I have to be honest, I never really listened to Motorhead until I heard about Lemmy's death, and I feel like such a dipshit for it, because Motorhead is fucking awesome. RIP Lemmy. \m/
