I saw Mayhem at SoundWave in Brisbane some years ago. It was a short set but I really enjoyed it.

I am, of course, being a dick, because it's what I do. Thinking is fine, rumination and worry are not.

This is your first list with absolutely nothing on it that I would be interested in hearing. That is not a criticism, just an observation.

Yep. It's all fashion and our names are now well and truly out of fashion. There are some terrible names on those lists though. I do like the old girls names that only grannies had but which are now back - Iris, May, Rose etc

Which, I agree, is about the perfect length for an album. Mind you, when I was a kiddie and had very little money and there were two vinyls I wanted and one was 36 minutes and the other 28 minutes for the same price then the economic consideration would come into play.

O bloody hell. How about, ah, their parents were recent migrants from Ruritania, or were just FITH. All true, but naming is culturally specific and fashion related. Here Cedric is the name of your great uncle, or even great great uncle. Cedric is a little guy with a comb-over at the bowls club. Not that I go to bowls clubs.

Never in the history of the world has any Australian born male been named Eugene. Just saying.

The wife test. Always worth it. I get the - really Mark - look too sometimes. I usually don't need the look. I can feel the vibe. This morning... LANAYAH - Forever in May. Eclectic. Then an OWLathon. OWL - Crystal Delerium OWL - Nights in Distortion OWL - Orion Fenix OWL is one of the dudes from VALBORG and always puts me in mind of my favourite VALBORG album - Romantik.

TARDIGRADA - Vom Bruch bis zur Freiheit KAMPFAR - Til Klovers Takt NP - ERNESTO JODOS - Confluence. Jazz pianist from Argentina.

I call this aggressive purring and I reckon it's a dominance tactic mostly. But not here. Poor little bugger was weaned too early. I have no idea what to do..

ETHER COVEN - The Relationship Between the Hammer and the Nail. Quite good, but maybe a bit too polite. ABHORRENCY - Climax of Disgusting Impurities. Not polite at all and the kind of cover art the Serpentboi would love. Good stuff.

Yep, and its title really suits the music.

FUNERAL MOTH - Live album on a Chinese label with only a Japanese title...it's on Bandcamp. Raw but OK. ASUNOJOKEI - Awakening. Like their new one, Thatguy approved.

I've given this a couple of tries and it's pass for me. Lightweight.

That's actually a good list with a good few Thatguy approved albums (in your dreams, Orca). But it's too fucking long.

I might talk him though it but he can do it himself. Brasils.

THROTH - Each in our own way we suffer. More Throth. Just say it - Throth, Throth, Throth FURIA - Martwa Polska Jesień. More Furia. Not as much fun to say as Throth. But an excellent album.

It could happen to you! Just not with the thrash.

Good stuff on this list, but this is enough to make it Thatguy approved.

That was two days ago, and times move on... GARGANJUA - Toward the Sun. Always good. GLASSING - Twin Dream. Thatguy approved. FERUM - Asunder/Erode. Yep, but I enjoyed the GLASSING more. LÁSZLÓ HORTOBÁGYI et al - Kurtágonals. Electronic music of a degree of artfulness well beyond the average. NP - THROTH - Haunted by the medium. A band new to me. I'm enjoying this gloomy doomy album.

MOROWE - S. Quite nice. I like the sound of the drums. There is a bit too much sickly synth lines in some songs. NP - RACHIKA NAYAR - Heaven Come Crashing. Whereas here it's all synths and a different thing again. Very nice. Not metal but, goats.

Yeah, yeah, but sometimes when you are on the road and there is only Macca's it's good to get a decent coffee - and they do it pretty well these days - instead of swill.

I know you've got to get on with your day, but even when I was working I always felt life is too short for bad coffee. I do not drink instant except at the in-laws.

We don't get mosquitoes much in Canberra. Too cold much of the year, and it used to be too dry. Bloody wet these days so we shall see. Growing up in Sydney mossies were a menace.
