  1. I'm appreciative of Luc Lemay and his beautiful accent.
  2. I headbanged so hard when I saw cannibal corpse that I nearly threw up. I was nauseous and out of it for the rest of that night Glad to see Marduk getting some love! Dissection- Reinkaos After listening to this, I wrote the best song I've ever composed on the fly.
  3. King Diamond- "Conspiracy" A huge influence on my guitar playing right now
  4. It's funny cause I have also been composing riffs and improvising in standard tuning as of late. It's a great way to get more acquainted with one's guitar. For example, I might try something new in standard tuning just to see how I like it. If I make something that I think sounds good, then I might try it a half-step down or even a whole step in order to see how it sounds with certain lower notes or at a certain octave or just to see if the hand position is easier or more accessible compared to the riff in standard.
  5. Thank you! I've had thoughts of doing something like that, but never knew quite how to go about it. That's a great way to break it down. Thanks
  6. A classic example (not sure if it's exact double time, but it's definitely a big increase in speed) would be the transition from the initial riff to the faster, main riff in "Raining Blood". It goes from a nice mid-tempo riff to a much faster, more tremolo-picking-based riff. I'm sure you're familiar with it as a Slayer fan, but I thought I'd mention it since no one else did, and it's a very recognizable song to nearly anyone.
  7. Yeah unfortunately the guys I'm with have been slacking off :/ but I guess it's better than having no one.
  8. Vader- "Iron Times" It's got a couple new songs (which I really enjoyed), and a couple great covers too.
  9. I couldn't agree more. There were some pretty distasteful deathcore bands that opened the show yesterday. It was just plain awkward to watch them. Suffocation did an amazing set under serious time constrictions (because Ingested did one too many songs, fucking it up for everybody else). Then, after them, Carnifex played, and people were more into them than Suffocation. It confused me so much. Music taste aside, I don't even think Carnifex put on a good show. After The Burial was better, but seriously, I don't understand where these fans are coming from when they're getting more into it for Carnifex than for Suffocation.
  10. Putrid Pile- "Paraphiliac Perversions"
  11. Yeah you're right, they're not really Suffocation at this point, but they really did bring it and show the new guys how it's done. The place went crazy when they played "Liege Of Inveracity". I head banged to that and "Infecting the Crypts" so hard that I had to chill for the next couple bands.
  12. I appreciate Suffocation for delivering an absolutely brutal performance for summer slaughter in LA yesterday.
  13. Hendrix and James are also among the people that made me pick up the guitar. That's awesome that you take so much inspiration from people like that
  14. I agree, it depends on the content and atmosphere of the song and what it means to you. Nice connection
  15. That's tough but I prefer tea. How about you?
  16. Hatebreed- "Satisfaction Is The Death of Desire" Anal Cunt- "It Just Gets Worse"
  17. I really like Season of Mist. They have plenty of awesome releases.
  18. Investigative journalist. I've always loved writing, and I think journalism is very interesting. I see the appeal in your choice though haha. Forgive me if this has been asked, but I don't think it has. Front man of a death metal band or front man of a black metal band?
  19. Katalepsy- "Autopsychosis" Devourment- "Unleash The Carnivore"
  20. Definitely Exar Kun. A world without metal or a world without alcohol?
