  2. Ivar Bjørnson & Einar Selvik - Hugsjá
  3. Welcome, as the Goat Old One said it’s great to see Youngblood entering the black metal scene. Morbid and Tormentor are interesting listens if you want to hear what the musicians of Mayhem we’re up to before forming the band. .
  4. Computer generated I guess, but I like the cover art. The music not so much. Generic sing-a-long first track and I gave up half way through.

  6. Welcome. Always good to see new young black metal fans. I get it in my head that it's mostly just us older dudes, middle aged and up who are still into real black metal, so it's really cool to see some Gen-Z kids getting into it. The 'first wave' bands: Venom, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Bathory and Mercyful Fate are required listening for all new metalheads. Maybe Sarcofago too although they came a couple of years later. You'll get plenty of recos for bands here if you ask, probably more than you'll need. Burzum set the template for that kind of 2nd wave atmospheric black metal. Tons of bands have followed in his steps and operate in the general area of his early 90's stuff. I don't listen to much Burzum myself, but as he's one of the innovators it's understandable for noobs to want to familiarize themselves with the origins of the music they're discovering. I suppose you've gotta at least hear Mayhem, Darkthrone and Burzum to understand the origins of the sub-genre if you're gonna be a black metaller. Probably want to touch base with Emperor, Immortal and Satyricon as well maybe Gorgoroth. These don't have to become your favorite bands but it'll give you an idea of where the genre came from. I'd recommend checking out the origins of the Finnish scene as well. Finnblack is the pinnacle of the black arts, although in recent years Norway has been making a comeback.
  7. SIMP - Sordid Imprecations Meant For Posterity
  8. Xentrix - Shattered Existence
  9. NP: Koitos - En Taida Kuulua Tanne ▶︎ En taida kuulua tänne | Koitos (bandcamp.com) Information on this one is pretty sparse, and I think the archives classify this as hard rock and not metal, which is understandable. I just wanted to know if the singer was the same guy from last years Quasarborn album. Sounds similar, but it seems these guys are from Finnland, and not Hungary. Regardless if you enjoyed that album this one should satisfy.
  10. Hello, here is another song from the upcoming album. It should already be the QQQQQQ version. https://tommusicproject.bandcamp.com/track/01-distance
  11. Hello. Hope you stick around. Texas is home to a few really interesting black metal bands, and of course my personal favorite metal drummer Proscriptor. As far as recommendations it depends on which era of Mayhem we're talking about. There's plenty of bands that changed absolutely nothing from the blueprint provided by De Mysteriis... If you want some all out blitz stuff check Beherit's Oath of Black Blood, and if a little Tolkien muddled in there doesn't bug you check out Cirith Gorgar. Also if it's the high energy stuff you're after it's hard not to recommend some of the more tenured "war" metal bands. It all occurs as a sub-genre of a sub-genre of a sub-genre, but there's definitely some solid stuff to be found. Can't help much with the Burzum stuff as it was never really my area of expertise, but Drudkh is a fair comparison I've heard, although they seem to have had as many different eras as Varg/Burzum.
  12. I saw this forum and thought it looked interesting. I was born in 2008 and I'm a Mayhem fan, I'm checking out some other pioneer Black Metal bands like Bathory & Venom too though. I also like Burzum, I think their Det Som Engang Var album is pretty good. I hope I can increase my knowledge on the history of Metal & find some new bands to listen to while on this forum.
  13. How do I delete the 'core p group' section of my profile?
