I have to check out Unlight, haven't heard of them before. Germany as a lot of great black metal bands as well.
If you like Blut Aus Nord, I'm pretty sure you'll dig Deathspell Omega and maybe Vi and Aosoth as well.

Has anyone actually ever noticed that France has a great black metal scene? With stuff like Aosoth, Glaciation, Peste Noire, Nocturnal Depression, Temple of Baal, Regarde Les Hommes Tomber, Deathspell Omega and now this not so new project called VI is a great candidate for black metal album of the year for me. VI - De Praestigiis Angelorum

Might check those out at some point. Can't recall if black metal was something you really go for or not but you might enjoy flicking through this thread. There's a ton of killer material provided by BAN with descriptions and videos.

I was comparing different sounds. You are chosing anyway one swedish (DF) and one norwegian (CF). So you can't make a choise as well

Even though my home town is nicknamed "The City Of Churches" I very rarely encounter people who care strongly about religion, or at least not many who are vocal about it, so I consider myself quite lucky. Having said that I have been called a Satanist or devil worshipper for my choice of clothing once or twice. Nothing on the JW missionaries who told me I am vision impaired because I have not allowed God into my life. It goes back to what I said earlier some people are just cruel and justify their actions in which ever way suits their needs.

It's not so much that there "have to be genres", it's that it's in our nature to classify things based on their differences from one another, and in situations like music discussion, where some of the differences are minimal, the importance of those differences gets exaggerated for some people.
For instance, "white beer" is typically very light in color, always cloudy, can refer to Belgian "wit", German "weiss", or the hoppier modern American style, will have a slightly bready or fruity aroma depending on style. and always (to my knowledge) contains wheat, whereas traditional pale ale can be an American pale like Sierra or an English bitter like Coniston, is typically slightly darker in color, can be either clear or slightly cloudy, is more hop-forward (especially in the bittering), and is not brewed with wheat. It's really night and day.

It's not so much that lines get blurred with genres as that bands often pull from various genres. I tend to slot band where the largest portion of their sound lies, but in cases of more even balances, it can be difficult. Also, it can change on an album to album basis with a band as they evolve.

Think of it like beer. There are tons of different styles that refer to different combinations of different versions of the same ingredients. They're more or less defined, but they developed through a lot of experimentation, and there are still new ones being developed now. There are brewers that try to really nail a classic version of a style, and there are other brewers who treat style guidelines pretty loosely or just ignore them.
You can be a nerd, and sample a lot of stuff, and learn to understand the distinctions well, or you can just say it all tastes like beer and you like the dark stuff and leave it at that. Don't order a Guinness if you want a Newcastle. Don't order a Newcastle if you want a decent beer...  If you're in the mood for an American black IPA, it can be helpful to know that a Flemish sour red ale tastes nothing like that.
FWIW, we've been considering getting rid of the subgenre sections here and making a smaller number of much broader categories (not heavy, kinda heavy, really really heavy). There will always be some disagreement about exactly what goes where. Sometimes that makes for interesting discussion, but all too often it devolves into what Richard Dawkins called the "tyranny of the discontinuous mind", this insistence that something has to be either A or B. The point of talking about it should be to find new bands, and increase your own understanding and enjoyment of the music you already like.

The genre lines get blurred at times I agree and I've made that mistake a few times. Folk Metal tends to be more upbeat in atmosphere with traditional folk instruments and song structures being an integral part of the genre. Orphaned Land's Mabool is my favourite example. It's easy, at times, to confuse with Viking Metal which has a typically triumphant atmosphere, epic composition, and Viking related themes. Bathory's Hammerheart is a staple of that genre. I totally sympathise with your frustration.

Sisa Belial gave a Damn to RelentlessOblivion in Hi to all!
I hear you having gone through a similar journey myself. When I first started listening to metal around 12 years ago the only way I came across new stuff was my cousin. A few years later when I had my own money and a little more freedom I'd buy whatever metal I could indiscriminately. Then around 18 I stopped looking for new stuff and stuck to what I knew. This forum really re-ignited my passion for discovering new bands and helped me understand just how massive the metal world is. Doom is my favourite sub-genre but I enjoy most of the spectrum.

You know if you're ever bored there are recommendation threads stickied to each genre subforum. BlutAusNerd, one of our users and a fellow moderator, has taken the time to create in-depth lists featuring band names, videos, and descriptions. Heaps of amazing stuff in there that's well worth checking out.

Props for the Ahab reference, one of my favourite funeral doom bands. This was a pointless comparison. I would be interested to see how people compare Amon Amarth and Enslaved. Both viking metal bands but with differing approaches to the genre.

No comparison at all... I love both and seen them both live and in my opinion are both brilliant in their own way but completely different... It's like comparing Ahab and Behemoth...

I can understand your situation, you live in a different country and sometimes you feel as forced to do what is common there.
Here in Italy we should be a laic (?) state even if we have the Pope, a lot of clerical insitution, the Vatican City... And is hard to find people who is very into the religion to think that you are not baptized so you are something like "different". And I still hope there will be not people like that here in Italy or where I will go to live in the future. I'm so happy to give my children the possibily to choose if they want to believe in something or not. I'm not really atheist, I like to think about myself as a religious person who has her personal thought about everything. Is the same for me about the italian politics. That's why you can't say about me that I'm on the letf or on the right side. I'm on both depending on the topic.
I will of course let my children know about different religions, maybe say them something about god. If they would like to be pagan, catholic or protestant or something else for me it's ok. But of course I'm afraid about the "fundamentalists" so before religion I have to teach them life. Then they will chose their path. Whatever it is. But if you are a good teacher I think they will automatically "choose" the best for them. Or maybe I hope

Those with power manipulate the disadvantaged every day. If religious justifications weren't used the reasons would be economic or political or "humanitarian" bottom line is that individuals are responsible for their actions not religion.
