Sadly it's a case of "check me out" followed swiftly by "see ya later"! I did check out Nevertanezra on the basis of NTNR's commitment to the group and to my pleasant surprise- they didn't suck!

I understand people are entitled to promote their material but what else can we do other than ignore the multitude of "Check out my band X/ our song Y/ our youtube channel Z", etc. until they've proven themselves to be actual forum members?

Re: Books I found out a few tidbits from Dave's book that I didn't know, but yeah overall it was stuff anyone would know from interviews over the years. I did love how Dave finally came clean about why Menza wasn't included in the re-activated Megadeth. At the time he said it was due to Nick being "not physically fit enough to play Megadeth's music" (the old excuse)!

Re: Effects Pedals Nah mate, I just seem to remember a 7-string fixation during "the dark times" (ie the 90's) of heaps of nu-metal bands doing the 7-string/ no solos thing. If it suits the music (which I assume it does for doom) then it's all good.

Re: Effects Pedals Don't become one of those nu-metal 7-string wanna-be's- stick with the 6 string! But yeah for your style of music it would probably save a lot of hassle in the tuning department.

Re: Soundwave and Soundwave Revolution Festivals It's true that Metallica certainly are not the ferocious band they were in the 80's, but nor are they terrible live (well except for Lars) James voice has "softened" over the years which also takes the edge off the performance, as does Jason's absence (I actually thought he was a great asset to them live for backing vocals if nothing else). As for Slayer- that was an absolute shocker of a performance from them on the Big 4 DVD- didn't really start getting into until the last 3 songs (but they usually tear the place up whenever I've seen them)

Re: Books Well I just finished watching Dexter Season 6 and it was a bit of a shocker actually. I think the writers are struggling to find good storylines. In the books Doakes, Rita, Brian (Dexters brother) are all still alive whereas they've been killed off in the series. Also in the books Deb knows about Dexter's nocturnal activities (although at the end of season 6 she now knows as well).

Re: Movies Awesome stuff. We take metal for granted in the western world but these guys come from a culture where (as I understand it) you can be locked up/ killed for listening to (much less playing) metal (haven't seen the doco- is it really that severe)? Now that's pretty hardcore!
