  2. I fucking hate those clean vocals with a passion. The screechy Mr Bungle bit in the bridge is also irritating. Seriously? That's absurd. Does your wife listen to metal/hard rock?
  3. I listen almost exclusively to music with distorted guitars - probably around 90% metal, rest is hard rock, hardcore and punk. Sometimes and I mean literally like nearly never, I will listen to something non-heavy. Only non-heavy album I own is Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.
  4. We all have unique tastes! I mean, I've got Hellyeah's Band of Brothers in my collection. 🤪

Dang that's brutal shit! My nightmares aren't monsters or violence, they're everyday ones that feature my parents who I have not spoken to in over 9 years!
  6. Do you purchase physical music (vinyl/CD)? And if so who do you go through? Always on the look out for a distro that can get stuff to Australia reasonably cheaply.
  7. I'm one of the last X Genners. But I don't generally do anything melodic metalcore. In fact I generally avoid more melodic modern bands regardless. Love to listen to old school melodic stuff be it Iron Maiden, Iced Earth or pre-2000 In Flames but can't stand modern melodic stuff even from old bands let alone new ones with clean pop singing. In fact most of us here listen to new music but it's generally the more abrasive stuff. For me personally it's mainly blackened speed and thrash and crossover when it comes to new stuff. Also dig crust and well done new wave of traditional heavy metal (eg Eternal Champion). Basically old stuff done by new bands.
  8. This one was pretty decent IMO too.
  9. Sorry never heard of them.
  10. I have no interest in sport whatsoever! I really would love to got Slovenia (closest I got to was a train ride from Rijeka to Rome back in 1991). These are critical for me too. What I've noticed is Wacken and Hellfest are getting more and more commercial. Now I know a lot of bands on older Wacken Open Air line ups are big now but in the early 2000s it was mainly true metal stuff that had become very uncool during the nu-metal era. Eg 2002 https://www.setlist.fm/festival/2002/wacken-open-air-2002-bd6bda6.html Blaze Blind Guardian Doro Kotipelto Messiah's Kiss Rose Tattoo Alabama Thunderpussy Angra Antagonist Avalanch Borknagar Bruce Dickinson Candlemass Children of Bodom Debris Inc. 11. There was that tiny window between 1930 (Great Depression, Keynesianism and FDR) and 1970s when western governments finally started acting in the benefit of all the people be it it social welfare or workers rights or civil rights or environment (eg EPA set up in 1970). Public service was professionalised and secularised. Since then the bad guys under the guise of "freedom" have started to take back control. * Sadly modern pseudo-democracy, consumerism and media (TV then internet) sapped the populace of any willingness to resist whilst the supposed progressive political parties sold out to big business. *Real equality requires control and regulation. These days regulation is merely mindless red tape that serves no purpose except the illusion of regulation and equality.
  12. The Americans don't really care what idiot we send to Washington as they know when it comes down to it Australia will just do whatever America wants it to.* I swear if US decided to invade Australia, Australia would offer troops in support. Was it Gareth Evans who said Australia's diplomatic corps are naïve and lack sophistication? *Though I note with new PM we're realigning back to doing whatever China wants us too. We're like a cheap street hooker. Here's our Foreign Minister coming to China to bend the knee. I will note she is ethnic Chinese and has always spoken out in favour of China. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-12-21/penny-wong-beijing-china-visit-wang-yi/101793374 Mr Joyce is a scoundrel and exemplifies everything that is wrong with modern Australia.
  13. This is the true death of democracy. It's this behind the scenes stuff where true decision making is done. Parliaments and Congress are mere rubber stamps. Problem is the power equilibrium from the 1970s shifted to capitalists and their flunkies. Both the elected politicians and the public service have been perverted and deformed into a tool of vested interests. It's scary to think we haven't had a decent PM in decades.
  14. You are right. It's getting hard to close ones eyes when there is homeless encampments sprouting up everywhere in Launceston, when I see my grocery, healthcare and powers bill skyrocketing and rich capitalist bastards rolling in cash. Right now I'm praying for Putin to go full loco over Christmas and resets humanity back to square one. Then what remains of humanity throws all the remaining neoliberals and capitalists off the top stories of tall buildings.
  15. So here in Australia we've got massive problems with housing and growing homelessness. We also have massive problems with unscrupulous developers building horrible new suburbs that have no green spaces, very few or no amenities, etc. So who does the government do? It appoints the head of one of the largest property development companies, Mirvac, to head an affordable housing commission. It's literally on par with the last government hiring fossil fuel executives to head up a sustainable economy strategy (no wonder how gas production was their only real recommendation). I hate this country more and more by the day.
  16. No Mercy - Widespread Bloodshed Love Runs Red Mike Muir's thrash metal side project before Suicidal Tendencies went more thrash.
  17. Fuck, yes it's in the wrong thread! 😂

  19. Iron Age - Live at St Vitus Bar Crossover thrash
  20. Not bad despite rough and uneven mix.
  21. Next on my listening list then. Thanks!
  22. Man I wish Australia was like that. I was in tropical Queensland on an island resort this year during the best month possible (August). It rained nearly every day despite being the dry season and part of the island was unwalkable due to sandblasting wind! Water was cold! And certainly no hot young bikini clad babes*, all the beaches we went to were full of us family types. I still had a great time and it was one of my best holidays. *This is the same fantasy I associate with 1980s glam metal. Question for anyone whose been on a 70,000 Tons of Metal festival - was the weather good and was there plenty of hot young metal babes in bikinis or was it all overweight middle age blokes who have never heard of deodorant? And a shit album at that. Their worst one in my opinion. In any case cunting is in the Urban Dictionary which makes it a proper word IMO. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Cunting
  23. No idea, never heard Purtenance and know nothing about them. Atheist - Unquestionable Presence - the only band with a perfect discography IMO!
  24. SHRIMP ON THE CUNTING BARBIE!
