Hey, it counts as culture so it's okay to post it.
NP: Inferno - Omniabsence Filled by His Greatness
▶︎ Omniabsence Filled by His Greatness | Inferno | Necroeucharist Productions (bandcamp.com)

I'm only on the first real track and it reminds me of Mayhem's Ordo Ad Chao; and album I actually really like if I can forget that it's Mayhem playing it. Who knows though. I'm one of those weirdos who thinks Grand Declaration of War is excellent and really underrated (despite the goofy accented spoken word passages and the *shudders electronic eurotrash track). It's good enough to make me want to hear the whole thing anyway.
Now that is an excellent band name for death metal.

Surprising amount of substance to go with the absurdly heavy atmosphere. Hypnotic gnostic black metal from Belgium. My guess is that these blokes are enamored with the dark arts.
    Thanatos | ÔROS KAÙ | I, Voidhanger Records (bandcamp.com)

Easily my favorite new blackened thrash band. All these guys do is kick out non-stop bangers. Norway.
Both Feet in the Grave | Corroder (bandcamp.com)

In my mind Woe carries more gravitas than most atmospheric black, but I can't say why I have that impression, but this promo is compelling.
Legacies of Frailty | Woe (bandcamp.com)

Fub fact: there are two bands named Eyemaster in MA.
This is the one from Germany and they play a cool form of slightly fuzzy/sludgy DM.
Conjuration of Flesh | EYEMASTER | Caligari Records (bandcamp.com)

Solid DM promo track from Chile
Lost In An Eternal Silence | BLOOD OATH | Caligari Records (bandcamp.com)

Last entry in tonight's data dump, but its none other than Finland's Desecresy, out with another full length after last year's kick ass Unveil in the Abyss.
Deserted Realms | DESECRESY | Xtreem Music (bandcamp.com)

I lied, one more. This EP fucking slays and I love it. War Goat metal from Sweden
    Black Goat...Victorious!
Black Goat Victorious | Beastgod | Stygian Black Hand (bandcamp.com)

Carnal Tomb - Abhorrent Veneration, solid o.s. m&p German death 2019. This one's from 4 years ago, new one comes out in November.

Cabinet - Pt. III: Get In... (Enter the Cabinet) 2022, Mammoth Lakes, California. This was one of their two full lengths from last year, the new one comes out tomorrow. Funny this probably appeals to the Portal/Abyssal people, but I hate Portal, only like one Abyssal album, but I love this. Probably appeals to the Fluids people too and I do dig most of their stuff.

Good promo track. No bs OSDM from Germany.
Embalmed in Decay | Carnal Tomb (bandcamp.com)

Cabinet plays impossibly heavy music unlike any other act that I have heard.
    e.p. | Cabinet | bloodymountain records (bandcamp.com)

That's funny. I know apologists for all of those albums except Soulless. Surely you don't mean Grave right? I thought people liked that one generally.
    NP: Godflayer - Visceral Therapy
    ▶︎ Visceral Therapy | GodFlayer (bandcamp.com)

Fun little one man death thrash band that apparently hasn't been signed yet. The quality's there though. Pro grade package all around. My guess is that it would be too difficult to put together live shows which are usually the bread and butter for these bands so seeking a label just wouldn't be worth it. Still, if I ran a label and this went across my desk I'd have a hard time just letting it slip by.

    46. terror and submission (1987) - holy terror
This band was formed by Kurt Collfelt after he left agent steel along with Keith Deen of Lust who ended up making this great little record. I don’t really have much else to say it’s good

    45. fools game (1989) - mordred
From what I can gather this band started out playing a thrash meets funk sound before going full on funk metal which is really disappointing because I really like this album's sound particularly the bass. Art liboons performance absolutely carries the album with his bass line on every day’s a holiday being easily the best.

Interesting to see Ironbound get ragged on a little. I always viewed that one as being one of their strongest among their new output.
Testament is a band I'm always pulling for. They've come so close to putting out something on par with their classics a couple of times now and it always feels like something different is missing. I can tell you who I'd rather see hang it up though: Kreator. I can't recall the last time I was even halfway excited for a new album. I think the last one I really had a go at was Phantom Antichrist, and listening to that was like getting a blowjob from an old lady with dentures: plastic and toothless. I don't really trust Destruction to come back in any meaningful way. I'd put my money Sadus could get it together to put out one more beast of an album even if Out For Blood was a hot mess. Maybe Tankard, Heathen, Exhorder, or Sanctuary, but now I'm just namedropping hoping somebody returns to form.

The vocals are what they are and really suit the music I think. They are sarcastic. And this music is  - in a subtle and engaging way - highly dissonant.
OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF GRAVES - Shrines To Dagon. Listened to the whole album. Yep.
AKERCOCKE - Decades OF Devil Worship. Again. This is a really good set. And the audience tells me the band name is pronounced AkerCOCK. What's that fucking e doing at the end then.
SCOTT WALKER & SUNN O))) - Soused. This is progressive.

Hungarino gave a Damn to GoatmasterGeneral in Top 3 albums/eps of the week.
I love this 3 albums of the week thread, I just forget to look for it.
Haven't been hunting for new shit too hard at all yet this year, it's only the last 2 weeks I've really started looking to see if anything good had come out this year yet and grabbing a few things.
Verminous Serpent - The Mailgn Covenant, Ireland. I've been playing the shit out of this one on Youtube the last few days and this morning I bought it. This is my front-runner for aoty so far, just can't stop going back to it.

Daemonlust - His Vast Coldness, Finland. Discovered this band just yesterday even though their new one has been out for a month now and already I can see them becoming my new obsession. Both of their albums are killer.

Disfear - Soul Scars, Swedish D-beat crust 1995. Had myself a little crust marathon for a few days earlier this week, and this one got the most plays I think, probably because I didn't have this particular album of theirs before this week.

Zoe - The Last Axe Beat, 2004 Japan. Another recent crust discovery, this EP is utterly fantastic. More musical than a lot of Japanese hardcore.

Hungarino gave a Damn to GoatmasterGeneral in Top 3 albums/eps of the week.
Two albums have dropped in the last week or two that I believe will be in the list conversation come January (for black metal fans anyway) and they've become daily spins.

Nattverd - I Helvetes Forakt, Norway. This one is feeling like top 3 material even considering the cringey thumbnail. A big step up for these guys on their 5th album (counting the EP as an album since it's 31 minutes) the songwritng here is exemplary.

Ondfødt - Det Österbottniska Mörkret, Finland. Even the modern digital homogenized production can't hold this one back. This one's top 10 material.

Concilium - Sky Bvrial, Chile. One of the leading contenders in this year's black/death space, this one's become a fixture in the rotation of late as well.

Canticum Diaboli - Ecce Pontifex Bonifatio. And there's this little EP from Italy. Without the 2.5 minute intro it's only 17 minutes of music so only like half an album basically, but it's a wonderful 17 minutes.

Hey. I like Vektor. They're not quite the heraldic saviors of thrash some made them out to be, but I've got nothing but respect for their musical output.

Age old question. Some say we may never know. Scientists claim we have only begun to scratch the surface and have only as yet been able to explore maybe 10% of the existing prog rock in the universe. Recently an observatory listening post in New Mexico has detected messages from outer space that have been decribed by astronomers as coming in such odd time signatures and polyrythyms that it could only be described as prog rock. An anonymous consortium of billionaire benefactors headed by Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk has put together a 5-man dream team of progonauts to launch a space mission into the outer galaxies in search of extra-terrestrial prog rock. This will be a strategic alliance joint venture between NASA and SpaceX. The $34 billion dollar solar powered vehicle will be mannned by: Colin Marston, Steven Wilson, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Chris DeGarmo. Robert Fripp wanted to be a part of this mission but was deemd to be too old to handle the rigors of space flight, so he has been grounded. John Petrucci wanted to go as well but was said to be too fat and smelly, no one wanted him in there with them. There will also be two as yet unnamed NASA dweebs onboard to do some scientific experiments once their destination has been reached and two Air Force test pilots will be enlisted to fly this sucker until it breaks free from the Earth's gravitational pull at which time they will board a lifeboat shuttlecraft and be jettisoned from the main spacecraft to return back down to Earth. The spacecraft will then be navigated and piloted from the ground by Elon's crack team of space nerds. The progonaut team will be cryogenically frozen and sealed into pods, kept alive intravenously and their vitals monitored closely by computer for the 540 year journey to the Andromeda galaxy where the messages are thought to have originated. Then the onboard computer will reawaken them in 2562 in hopes they will be able to make contact with the alien prog rockers. NASA has no plan to re-freeze them and bring them back safely (if there'd even be anything left on Earth to come back to in 1080 years) but when asked for comment a spokesman for the SpaceX company has reportedly said: "Hey listen, we can't think of everything man."

G.I.S.M fucking rules. Batshit insane Japanese amalgamation of every style imaginable leaning heavily into hardcore punk and NWOBHM. M.A.N and Sonicrime Therapy are also fun listens.

    LIFE - Ossification of Coral
    Taphos - Blood Plethora demo

Caught this one a while ago. It's... not for me. It definitely feels like a Relapse band though, like back when Goatsnake and Today Is The Day were some of their biggest signings. Not a knock against the label at all. They brought a bunch of bands into the (relativelly) mainstream that may have gone otherwise unheard. Still they definitely had a touch of the weird and out of left field back in the day.

NP:  KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR - Built To Kill

Welp, pretty much what you expect. All the standard influences Venom, Hellhammer, maybe Midnight for something modern. I can dig it.

Nice. I grew up in the foothills in central Virginia and those mountains were home. My sister named her daughter Shenandoah. Great way to grow up, although I must be near the ocean these days.
Anthrax fan from the start here, and so true that they filled their own niche and really don't get credit for how influential they were on different genres. They were heavy af at the time. Sure, their later stuff goes kind of haywire but so do a lot of bands. They definitely struck a unique chord in my adolescent years and I still enjoy everything through SoWN and then their most recent two were decent enough. Oh, and you can thank them (and Aerosmith I guess) for rap-rock/metal.

The General is much more competent to weigh in here than I, but I have some notable additions to the effort that shouldn't get lost in the fray.
Black Witchery - Desecration of the Holy Kingdom (you mf'ers need this in your soul)
Wind of the Black Mountains - Sing Thou Unholy Serpent
    Weakling - Dead As Dreams
Recluse - Stillbirth in Bethlehem (proprietors of my annual Xmas shirt)
    Oranssi Pazuzu - Värähtelijä
Circle of Ouroborus - Uskottomien kirkossa / Tarpeeton (lots of choices here but I'll go with my favorite comp of EPs)
AKASHA - Canticles of the Sepulchral Diety
    Serpent Noir - Sanguis X
Demoncy - pick one but I'm not objective as this is far and away my favorite bm project ever. Say Joined in Darkness.
    Von - Blood Angel
    Krieg - The Black House
    Cult of Fire - again not objective, let's go with मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान
Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters
Wode - Servants of the Countercosmos
    Nightbringer - Ego Dominus Tuus
    Gorgoroth - Ad Majorem Sathanas
Blaspherian - Allegiance to the Will of Damnation
Absu - Tara (more black thrash but in the same convo as D666)
I'm leaving out Svartsyn because I can't pick one.
    Behexen - Rituale Satanum
    Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet
    Cosmic Church - Ylistys
Baptism - just any fuckin Baptism. They rule.
    Oath - Mustan liekin veljeskunta
Old Forest - Into the Old Forest
Enslaved - Monumension (prog/experimental bm is a stretch but believable)
Primordial - To the Nameless Dead but substitute Imara if you want
The Ruins of Beverast - Rain Upon the Impure
Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God
    Achatius - Funeral Presence
Leviathan - Tenth Sublevel of Suicide
And goddamned Ackercocke! Words That Go Unspoken is my choice here, but all of it's good shit.
Did I miss Impaled Nazarene somewhere?
Nothing ranked, just stuff definitely in my top 100 which I have around here somewhere. Many entries would just be duplicates of GG's list anyway. I could probably do a top 5 or 10 personal faves (although forgive me if it differs from a previous list as it changes periodically)
Dawn - Slaughtersun ( this one is never not the #1)
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Ordinance - In Purge there is no Remission
    Archgoat - The Luciferian Crown
Inquisition - Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult
    Bathory - BFD
    Demoncy - JID
Judas Iscariot - Heaven in Flames
Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom
Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon

I am more with GG on the dissonance personally. A little goes a long way when it suits the atmosphere and the vibe/pulse.
I get and appreciate that a bunch of metal guitarists are virtuosos and classically trained to understand the mathematical foundations of jazz-fusion and all that, and that's great, but when I hear a bunch of dissonant or arrhythmic wankery played just for the sake of it, I immediately want to crank some 3 chord beastial war metal recorded by 17-year-old Canadians in their mom's basement, or some such.
NP: Megadeth - Killing is my Business..
