  1. Petition denied on the basis that every day is Bolt Thrower Day. And trust me, you couldn't do a worse job than a good quarter of my staff and/or half of my managers. Yeah, I was going for 90% of the time, but we do in fact only work 10 days out of every 2 weeks. 2 weeks = 1 pay period.
  2. Can you take a proper set of vitals and actually show up to work 9 days out of 10? That's basically my requirements these days. Good musical tastes may make you eligible for management...
  3. I work for the government too. No different here. Same rules apply. It's easier to just not put time or energy into being bothered. If we suddenly had an equivalent thing replacing Native Americans with aborigines, I would say the same. I worked up until very recently for a very homosexual Nurse Exec who made a point to make the biggest fuckin deal ever about Pride week events and everything else related to gay culture and history. Even "forced" our participation. Just never saw the point of troubling myself over it. Let him have his thing. Costs me nothing. And if it makes them happy, well happy people are easier to work for. So win-win.
  4. The equipment isn't the trouble, it's the greens fees and consumables (balls, gloves, grips, etc). I don't know what it costs down there, but a round at the club I belong to is $40 (cheapest in the area with most rounds coming in between $75-250), sleeve of balls is $12-15, gloves run $20-30 and don't last more than a few rounds in a Florida summer. Grip a full set is $100+ even if I do it myself. I only buy used gear and maybe have $500 total in my bag, but I easily spend that in 2 months when I'm playing every weekend. As I get closer to retirement age (15-18 years out), I'm reevaluating. Every penny counts and I have several expensive hobbies (golf, audio gear, and metal shows requiring travel) along with 3 houses (mine, the kid's, and my wife's parents) and 3 on the payroll. Deciding what stays and what goes is the hard part. Does golf bring me more happiness than my classic Marantz (what's the plural of that anyway)? Not sure. New driver or a set of Klipsch Heresy? I already ditched fishing, my car obsession, and woodworking. Just excuses to spend money. Don't get me started on cycling, that went years ago. Could I do these things on a budget, probably, but aside from money, it was the amount of time required that I just don't have. Too much clutter didn't help either. Only took me 30+ years to figure that out, but at least I finally did.
  5. I have to agree. I think they could have taken the best tracks off of all 5 albums and had the AOTY, but instead spread them out and put in a lot of filler/poorly developed ideas. The Ice one is the best of their output this year imo.
  6. That's a 2 handed dipped in filth horns salute. Good shit!
  7. Holy fuckin hell! Excellent news. These guys slay.
  8. Woke (finding reasons to be offended) and anti-woke (finding reasons to be offended by the people finding reasons to be offended) are essentially the same dumbass thing from opposite sides of the fence. I dunno about how it plays out in Aussieland, but from what I've seen in the states, they play the same but to different ends of the socio-political spectrum. Playbook is the same. Bitching about a non prayer is the same as bitching about a prayer. Just don't participate. Stand there if attendance is required but don't say anything. I get "have a blessed day", "god bless you", and "prayers" all the time. We have an official chaplain who gets airtime in leadership meetings daily but only ever offers christian advice/prayers from his particular denomination which is specifically 1) against the chaplain code and 2) a clear infringement considering he works for the US government. I could bitch and complain, raise all sorts of hell, make a scene everytime someone says some pointless thing they feel is the right thing to say in a situation, but I chose to direct my energy in positive pursuits. I'm a card carrying member of the Satanic Temple, but I don't see the point in challenging something that has no effect on me or the rights of others just to make a point. I just choose to focus on something more productive. Honestly seems a non-reason for getting bothered.
  9. I live in the Bible Belt in a very conservative part of the US. I get plenty of sideways glances at many of my black tshirts of the metal variety. I find it quite amusing. Especially later when I run into the same people in a professional capacity. Serves as an effective barrier against people I'd rather not deal with (closed minded opinionated jesus freaks). Don't worry about other people's opinions or comments. Don't let it effect you, your life, or your passions. I mean don't wear an Archgoat shirt for a job interview or anything (unless it's with me and then you slam dunk get the job), but these people are just self-identifying that you want nothing to do with them.
  10. Good clear mind and golf in the same sentence. I know you didn't type that with a straight face 😄. Never has a more frustrating game ever been invented. I'm a respectable hack, meaning I can play with most anyone and not categorically embarrass myself. That's about it, but it's a great way to spend time with the boys on the weekend while talking trash, drinking, and blowing off steam. It is bloody expensive though and I have thought quite a bit about giving it up all together and finding a more reasonable hobby to accomplish the same end. And that's the reason I keep going back. All my homies suck worse than I do. I love those guys, but it's the reason I always choose to play with them. Makes the trash talking and occasional moments of brilliance even better!
  11. That's a part I don't get either. I mean do enough people have "main character" disease that think their opinion on a franchise or casting decision even registers at a level for it to matter? I mean let's be real. These changes aren't being made for the sake of wokeness or inclusion. It's about money. Bring in more fans (in many of these cases they're targeting minorities) so they can expand the audience for more ticket and merchandise sales. Sometimes it's done to appease the Chinese government so the films can be shown in the country, but that's starting to change because companies aren't seeing the return on investment. That's the motivation. That's it. More people identify with a franchise or go see a show, more people spend money on it. With all things in life, the answer is always sex or money. As a fan, I'm for inclusion. Let more people enjoy the things worth enjoying. I don't really understand why people would be against it unless it's the good old "change is good unless you change my things. Don't touch my thing" mindset. The whole woke thing is a Qanon bogeyman. Something for immature people who can't think critically to be scared of and a way to influence them as a group. Satan worked for years with Judeo-Christian followers, but as that population declines, they have to come up with something else to take his/her place. Or is it they/them? Someone should ask Satan his preferred pronouns.
  12. Yeah, I was. Grew up with Star Wars, D&D, all that stuff. Was deep into the books and games, even video games up to a point. I get what you're saying, but I'd offer that there has never been an adaption of one of those to a (live action) TV series or movie that fans thought was acceptable. It's just impossible to translate everyone's mental image of those characters onto a screen or translate the story into anything close to accurate. You have to leave something out or make a casting choice and upset someone. Dune is probably the closest I can come up with to the actual novel that works. My point is, if you don't like it, just don't watch. Don't waste energy outraging on the internet. Better uses of time. The reason for the changes isn't that high on my list, but I wouldn't be bothered if they cast a female Batman or a caucasian Black Panther...whatever would cause the collective internet to lose their shit, I just wouldn't watch. Easy peasy. No one on the internet really cares about anyone else's opinion for the most part anyway, so why waste the energy?
  13. The amount of outrage over the casting choices for just about every series/show/movie these days is pathetic. Fan bases are just unreasonable not to mention the culture warriors out there who have to pick everything apart. I just actively choose not to watch anything that doesn't suit my tastes. It's a decent way to avoid getting tweaked over dumb shit. Too bad people can't understand that they have the option to just avoid something they don't like. Freewill and all.
  14. I listened to that a bit yesterday. Think I need some digest it. Lots going on. Autonesis - Autonesis Police Bastard - Traumatized
  15. Yeah, last week was particularly miserable, but we got through. I usually blow off steam on the golf course with a little whiskey and 4+ hours of caveman death metal. Good for general frustration as long as I get in at least 1 session a week. But besides the family care issues, I also had kids talking divorce, a miserable couple of weeks at work, a notice from the IRS that I owe a decent chunk before the end of the year, and most importantly - I've gone 3 weeks without my outdoor therapy due to travel and weather. It's all good though. Not better, all the problems are still there, but I did get some time on the course in this weekend. Maybe I would have been better off if I had kept up playing music years ago. I'm sure I have enough "motivation" and "baggage" to make some truly sick and twisted stuff. At least have had a creative outlet. Seriously though, therapy isn't a bad idea. It's just finding the time to work it in. More importantly, I've got to get back to daily meditation sessions. I have the time in the day, usually later in the evening, but I find myself dicking around on the internet too much. Or listening to podcast. Dumb shit. Way too easy these days to find little distractions that consume significant portions of time. I was always a little calmer when I practiced regularly. I think my biggest issue has always been allowing other people dump their problems on me. One of my managers calls this pin pulling. Someone comes in, sets the problem on your desk, and walks out leaving you to deal with it. Probably the best description I've heard. Drawing definite boundaries instead of just allowing others to do that sort of thing has always been a problem for me and where I could definitely use some assistance from a professional. Politely decline the grenade and let them find someone else if you will.

  21. My brain never adjusted to anything more than 4 strings. I've tried a few times and just never got the hang of it. Thin Lizzy - Johnny the Fox
  22. I'm very wary of people who say that they had "ideal" upbringings. They're either 1) ignorant of what was really going on (like my wife) or 2) lying to accomplish some means. Ignorant is certainly the best of the 2, but boy when that bomb finally drops, the blast radius can go in many unexpected directions. Depending on how close you are to the person, you may take more damage than you think. I saw it coming years ago and started gently steeling both of us for the inevitable. It sorta worked. Enough that we've made it through for the most part. We're all imperfect and messed up. It's the human condition. As fucked as much of my own was, I'm thankful to be honest. I think I am a much better adult and able to handle adversity with more ease. Things may get bad, but it's rarely so bad that I truly get worried. I got through with a skillset that continues to serve me well. That said, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. That's very admirable to be strong enough to realize you need it and are seeking out help. Cheers mate and good luck!
  23. You know, I'm not sure I believe in all that, but that's not the first time I've heard that. It's kinda weird.
  24. Mine was a cheap model because I was broke as a joke at that time. It was still pretty special and so nice to play. I do miss it. Yours sounds very nice. I've always wanted another. That, a Wal, a 4001, and a Jazz bass. Pretty much the holy trinity (for me anyway) and the Ibanez. Vandal Moon - Queen of the Night
