  1. Games Been wondering when someone would revive this thread.
  2. Wait, so you were born in 1990? I did not know this. I'd gathered you were a bit younger than some of us, but I didn't realize you were quite that young. Not that there's anything wrong with being young. My daughter was born in 1990. Unfortunately she did not have a cousin to play Pantera songs for her, her cousin listens to rap and pop and mainstream normie stuff like that with her. I remember them coming over one time when they were about 15-16 and they went on my computer and started listening to 50 Cent. I remember wondering "where did I go wrong?" She'd always thought my music sounded "scary" so my love of metal never rubbed off on her. I don't hold out much hope for my 3 grandkids either, living in that house I'm sure they'll all end up listening to rap and pop too. Oh the humanity.
  3. Well there was 2" of beer on the floor so maybe that'd keep the whole place from going up.
  4. Sure, we're happy to have you! It does not surprise me that you are female, but it surprises me that anyone would choose to live in Baltimore. No, I'm just kidding, we actually have two regulars from Maryland who post here. One in the burbs south of Baltimore past the airport, and another who resides way out past the western suburbs halfway to Hagerstown. So now we'll have three of yiz. My late wife really liked Savatage. I remember her discovering them about 12 years ago and then somehow it became my job to track down a bunch of their CD's for her. I had owned their first Sirens album once upon a time but I don't have any idea what happened to it. But that was the only one, they're a bit too lightweight for me. Who else do you like?
  5. Integrity - Systems Overload, 1995 Misery - Who's the Fool, 1995 Disfear - Soul Scars 1995
  6. I've never heard them so I have no idea. But I'll gladly take your word for it. NP: Sepultura - Schizophrenia, Brazil 1987 Coroner - R.I.P. Switzerland 1987
  7. What kind of grumpy old bastard are you anyway? You're slacking off, that should've been two nahs.
  8. Vicissitude - Neolithic Necrocannibals, black/death Wellington NZ 2022 Methchrist - Pestilential Warfare of the Black Flame, war metal Dunedin NZ
  9. Phobophilic - Enveloping Absurdity, Fargo ND 2022. I bought this last fall but haven't listened to it lately. Saw it on a bunch of year end lists and now today Josh had it at #2 on his list, so I figured it was time for a refresher. Tomb Mold - Aperture of Body EP, Toronto ON 2022, same with this NYP demo. I've grown weary of Tomb Mold over the last few years, think they're a bit overrated so I haven't listened. I'd forgotten that I had even grabbed this little 3 track 13 min EP last year until Josh's list reminded me.
  10. Dopethrone - Dark Foil, 2011 Montreal sludge Weedeater - Sixteen Tons 2002 Wilmington NC sludge
  11. What YOUR Favorite Metal Band Says About YOU!
  12. I understand what you're agreeing with Doc, but not why you hate to do it. I would have thought you'd be thrilled to agree with me.
  13. Ósserp - Els Nous Cants de la Sibil·la, Barcelona Spain, not bad at all 🤘 Nonsanto - Human Condition, Poland
  14. It was a public service announcement. A word to the wise. No apology necessary. There's no statute of limitations on replies. Well unless I dropped dead first before you responded I suppose, that'd make it kinda hard to read your reply. As far as recommendations go we've all gotta start somewhere. Recos are a good way to get started catching up on 40+ years of metal, and then soon enough you will start to learn what you like and what you don't like and whose recos you can trust to deliver the goods.
  15. Late to the party once again, looks like all the important ones have already been mentioned. I'd only add Slowly We Rot, Hymn to Abramelin, R.I.P., A Holocaust in Your Head, 7 Churches, Darkness Descends, Serpent Temptation, Violent Restitution, Power From Hell, and Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing. If any of those are considered extreme.
  16. Hey Doc, I saw this thumbnail in my YT sidebar this morning, and while everyone and their brother knows I don't give a flying fuck about Enslaved's brand of cosmic blackened space viking prog metal and their too much clean singing, it caught my eye because I know how much you dig them. (as well as some other friends of mine who dig them) These dudes are positively gushing over it like it's the best thing they've heard this year, but they don't always have the best taste afaic. Don't know if you'll even be interested in watching this since you've already heard the album a few times by now, but here it is just in case. Enslaved "Heimdal" Review (WILL ODIN BE PLEASED? WE THINK SO.)
  17. I thought you said you raised them to be good people? I honestly have no idea what Ed - fucking - Sheeran's music sounds like, I only know that he has red hair and seems to find himself as the butt of a lot of internet jokes about how does fugly old redhead Ed - fucking- Sheehan manage to pull so many chicks (that'd be Shielas for you Ozzies) and get so much nookie when we can't, just because he sings some shitty whiney songs. I could probably live just fine without ever actually hearing him though. Of course those two women at your table and the 200,000 screaming idiots in Sydney & Melbourne were wrong and we're right Doc, that goes without saying. Or well at least I'm right anyway, not so sure about your Krallice and hipster post-black and other ambient and avant-garde microtonal weirdness, but I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on some of the rest of your choices and stand with you against the evils of mainstream pop music. We grey bearded metalhead over 60 seniors have gotta stick together even if your idea of what's good differs significantly from mine. I guess now I'll have to go look up what "garni de jour" means, although I already know the de jour part and I think I can figure out the garni close enough from the context. I've never seen anyone take an opening day overtime loss so hard before. Chin up Doc, I'm sure your Eels will win a game or two sooner or later, maybe they can even get a W on the board by beating the Sharks next Friday if you're lucky.
  18. The Chasm - Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm, 2009 Incantation - Diabolical Conquest, 1998
  19. The Clamps - Deadly Kick For a Fat Fucker, Italy 2013 2 Headed Dogs - The Engine is On, Greece 2021 What about the too much clean singing?
  20. Here's the numbers I get: The average yearly full time salary in Australia is $90,800 AUD ($60,709 USD) The median salary is $89,040. ($60,024 USD) The highest average wages were found in ACT, the lowest was Queensland. The national average U.S. full time income in 2021 was $97,962. ($144,724 AUD) The median U.S. income in 2021 was $69,717. ($103,000 AUD)
  21. Yeah but how much would that be in American dollars, $85k? I don't know how much dermatologists make over here because when I Google it I get all kinds of different numbers, could be anywhere from $150k up to a million. Salary dot com say the median is $371k. But I don't think they actually clear as much as you'd think here because they have to pay a good $100k in malpractice insurance. https://www.salary.com/research/salary/alternate/dermatologist-salary
  22. He was a fucking pimple popper, not a brain surgeon or a heart transplant specialist or one of Deadly's $2,500 a day head shrinkers. And he doesn't have any of the right contacts he'd need to pull off these big tours in his rolodex. Leave the old guy alone, he's happy out in the yard digging in his garden with his headphones on.
