  5. There are supposedly ways to get it to scrobble from all your different devices and even youtube plays if you want but I'm a low tech kinda guy so I only scrobble what I play on the desktop computer. So whatever I play anywhere else in the car or around the house off my phone doesn't get counted. Years ago I had it scrobbling my ipod plays too, but my last ipod died a long time ago. So when you're in the mood for a steak what do you do, just walk outside kick a cow in the nuts and then slice him up? (that was a joke, I know steers have been relieved of their nuts) I have a lamb steak downstairs to cook tonight when I'm ready. With a sweet potato and some asparagus. It's 7:30 already, I should probably go do that pretty soon.
  6. You're not missing out on anything exciting, scrobbling just counts how many times you've played things and lets you sort it by different time periods n shit. For those of us who are obsessed with numbers and enjoy playing with them for no apparent reason and have a lot of time on our hands. I just hope Cum Blood dude doesn't mind that I'm playing along at home. GG top 200 most played bands countdown according to lastFM 196. Shadow's Mortuary - Tulen Valtakunta, Finland 195. 12. Well there's only 4-a-yiz dirty Ockers here to begin with. (Not counting Red Shift/True Belief who only posts sporadically every few months) Orca the contrarian has gone on the record as not particularly giving a shit about the band, I don't even need to ask Doc what he thinks about a black/thash bullet belt band from Melbourne, Deadovic has said he likes them well enough starting with Wildfire but he doesn't really get a throbbing hard-on over any of their earlier stuff. That just leaves you Blivvington, and I thought you had said something to the effect of they're ok but they don't really blow your skirt up and you could basically take them or leave them. The only forum member from down under I can recall ever posting any D666 at all has been Deadly who posts Widfire every several months. I know I've posted them, which is how I got all the Ozzies to weigh in with their thoughts in the first place. If you're trying to say that you're a fan and they give you a throbbing hard-on and you've posted them a bunch of times then I must have missed that. I usually have a pretty good memory for stuff like this but I'm sure there's stuff that gets by me all the time. Don't take it personally Blivarooni. Destroyer 666 - Cold Steel...For An Iron Age, 2002 I fucking love this band, is this a new release? Nothing on M-A about it yet, is it another demo or a full length? What formats does this come in, do they have a digital? Their other album (demo or whatever) L'espiar Maishant was cassette only and I loved it so much I bought it anyway. Jesus Fucking Christ, this is bleak. 5 minutes of this and I'm ready to slit my fucking wrists. And it's got those so bad they're actually good vox too. Cool. So you're gonna post one album by each band of your top 200 most played artists on LastFM one at a time? Or are you doing your most played 200 albums? I bought this 15 years ago along with Five Across the Eyes, but I never ever play them because they're a tad to techy for me. But seriously good albums if you're into that sort of tech-ish thing.
  13. In the commercial mainstream online metal world of today mainly populated by Millennials and Zoomers who knows, maybe the kids have decided they like Roots now. But I'm not part of that world. I have never been in the habit of frequenting any of these mainstream blog sites. I fraternize and talk metal with mostly older dudes from 40-ish to 50+ who are more aligned with my view of the metal world, and to a man every last one of them dimisses Roots as straight garbage. In the wake of Beneath and Arise a lof them can't even accept the groove laden Chaos AD. As far as the band Destroyer 666 is concerned, yeah band leader KK Warslut (Keith Bemrose) is an arrogant loudmouthed prick who apparently holds some pretty extreme conservative views. I remember reading that he posted some comments several years ago where he used the phrase "effeminate males" and there was reportedly an onstage rant in Denmark lamenting how Danish men who've "descended from Vikings" are now living in a "matriarchal society." At another show he asked the crowd if there were any "pussies, faggots or internet warriors" in attendance which got a predictably enthusiastic response from the rabid crowd, but had the SJW's in an uproar clutching their pearls and crying misogyny. Personally I think if we were forced to exclude every single dude who might potentially be holding some type of low key sexist or racist views from the group of your typical 40-60 year old predominantly white male extreme metal musicians we probably wouldn't have many bands left to listen to. Or at least I probaby wouldn't. And I'm really not trying to excuse overt racism or sexism here, but I hail from an era when people could disagree about stuff like politics and religion and ideas about gender relations like this (within reason of course) and still go on. A healthy debate is one thing, but this modern Orwellian idea that society should be able to control how everyone else thinks at all times and we need to jump on every little word people say, including comedians who are telling jokes just trying to be funny, and pound them into submission with the weight of our disapproval is alien to me. You're not gonna change the way half the world thinks simply by being perpetually offended, at best you'll just get them to keep quiet about it to avoid the repercussions. But isn't it better when you know where people stand? And where is the line? Is every single dude who has ever been annoyed with or made fun of something his wife, partner or girlfriend said or did and then vented to his buddies about it, or maybe casually said to a mate "dude that's gay" or "don't be a pussy" going to be branded a "misogynist" now? I think we need to let common sense prevail and reserve this modern idea of "toxic masculinity" for those who are actively being toxic and misogynistic. Masculinity itself is not inherently evil, there can be normal, healthy types of non-toxic masculinity.
  14. Classic textbook case of total denial. And your imaginary avian friend is mildly concerning as well. Perhaps you have an old colleague in the mental health field you've remained in touch with whom you could call upon to help you work through some of these issues? There's no shame in seeking help Doc.
  15. Dude it's practically a cliche among metalheads, it's assumed that most of us can't stand Roots. Many I've known even disown Chaos AD although I won't go that far, Refuse/Resist is still one of my favourite Sep tunes. But it's most definitely seen as the exception when someone says they like Roots, not the norm. It all started going downhill after the monumental Beneath the Remains if you ask me. I'm a total D666 fanboi so hopefully you'll dig what you find in their discography because strangely none of these Aussies on the forum here seem to give a shit about this band. My personal favorite of theirs would be Defiance (2009) which seems to be a hot take amongst metalheads in general, but it is what it is. Phoenix Rising and Cold Steel are both 9/10 albums. You really can't go wrong with anything from Unchain the Wolves up through Defiance, the EP's and everything. Even their later stuff isn't bad, it's just different.
  16. In a rare moment of synergy this arvo, Doc posted 3 albums together that I didn't hate. I'd even go so far as to characterize all 3 of these as "good" although none of them are quite the kind of thing I'd normally seek out on my own or be looking to purchase. But crikey mate, you sure do love your post-metal. And yes, before you get your budgie feathers all ruffled I know Perth's Drowning Horses are some kind of atmospheric post-hardcore sludgegaze or something, but the other 2 are pure post-metal, one avant-garde apparently, and the other progressive. But I'll concede that they're all 3 good albums, so I reckon it just goes to show ya that all post-metal is not created equally. Serpent Corpse - Blood Sabbath, must have listened to this 4 or 5 times today.
  17. You're just finding this out now? Elitist mfs meaning people with good taste? Or people who understand what the definition of metal is? Probably both I guess. So thank you for the compliment. You know it's really not our fault that album's not metal. It sounds just like heaps of 90's alt/rock bands none of whom were metal either. Everything with downtuned guitars isn't neccessarily metal. And if that album is representative of the kind of thing you're into then why would you care if the nit-picking, knuckle-dragging metalheads thought it was metal or not anyway? If it was metal they would have called themselves Fleshripper, not Fleshwater. If you didn't know the difference between alt/rock and metal before, well now you do. You're welcome. Even us elitists listen to shit that's not metal sometimes you know, we can just tell the difference.
  18. My experience with Faith No More is basically limited to this blast from the past. Can't believe I liked this back in 1989. Never got too heavily into Jane's Addiction or bought any of their albums or anything either, but yet I can't help feeling all tingly when I see Dave's nip rings.
  19. Mulla - هل تحتاج إلى Mulla - مَوْلَى Mulla - لماذا لا ترى ذلك
  20. Are these dudes friends of yours by any chance, or could they possibly have paid you to write this review? This shit is fucking atrocious! It's so bad I don't even know where to begin. I wouldn't even know who to compare this to as I don't ever listen to this kind of lame 90's inspired super commercial alt-rock. The closest reference point I can come up with here might be Deftones with a wee bit of Korn thrown into the mix. But that's probably off-base because I haven't actually listened to a whole lotta Deftones or Korn. Guess I'll just call this rubber duckycore. In any event this is not metal, it's far too pretty for its own good, and there is nothing, I repeat absolutely nothing gnarly or dirty or filthy about this, nor industrial for that matter. I'll gladly apologize later if it turns out that English isn't your first language, but I have to ask: do you even know what any of those words mean? If you honestly like this then cool, have at it. No one cares what you listen to. But it really almost seems as if your review must have been written for an entirely different album other than correctly stating there are both male and female vocalists and it was released in 2022.
  21. A little early? It's been out for 15 months! I kid, I kid. Thought it was pretty good, I bought it last year, but I don't think it was ever in any serious danger of making my 2022 list. So good, but nothing to write home about as they say. Guess I just find it hard to take black metal coming out of a place like Jawja in the sweltering American south seriously. Ain't no icy windswept forests in Atlanta. But I must say I love how your mini Vimur review turned into an indictment of Immortal and the beloved At the Heart of Winter. I remember coming home from work one day about 8 or 9 years ago and my wife had been having a rough day with the fussy baby. So when she finally got him down in his crib for a nap she said she went on Youtube and being in a mood she decided to search "black metal" and by chance At the Heart of Winter was the first thing that came up. She knew nothing of black metal other than being aware that it was something I listened to, so she listened to the album and ended up liking it. I get home later and she's like "You have to get this album for me" and proceeded to pull it up on Youtube to show me, to which I laughed and replied "Don't worry, I've already got it." I was glad because I knew if I were to order her the cd, by the time it came in the mail she'd have forgotten all about it. I agree though that while that one certainly has its proponents, there are other more worthwhile Immortal albums, namely Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North. Missed this one last year, this is really good gonna have to grab it. More midwestern death metal from Toledo Ohio.
  22. Desekryptor - Vortex Oblivion, midwestern death from Fort Wayne Indiana Ascendency - A Manifest of Imperious Destiny, Copengahen Denmark, I think our fry vocal loving friend might like this one. I know I do.
  23. Who the fuck would put Grandpa Munster on their album cover??
  24. Whoever is responsible for this Live at St Vitus series of videos is performing a real public service. I should pay more attention to who's playing at St Vitus because I could probably be in Greenpoint in 90 minutes. Alright well Google Maps is telling me more like 2 hours now because weekend traffic at the tunnel's all fucked up. But at nighttime I'm sure I could do the 58.7 miles (95k's) in under 90 minutes. Blackbraid - Blackbraid II, really enjoying this new Blackbraid even more than the first one.
