  1. Brutality - When the Sky Turns Black
  2. Funeral Mist - Salvation A friend of mine suggested me this album/band since I already like Deathspell Omega. I'm going to check it out right now. EDIT: Album left me a little underwhelmed. There are surely some chaotic parts which might reflect DsO's musical approach, but Funeral Mist are a regular black metal band for the most part.
  3. According to my weekly last.fm charts: Deathspell Omega - Paracletus: Perhaps my favorite of their trilogy. It features mainly songs of medium/short duration and it's definetely the most accessible, maybe after Drought. Regardless, it brings a great variety of memorable riffs and tempo changes. Deathspell Omega - The Synarchy of Molten Bones: their latest album isn't inferior by any means, but it's much shorter and definetely not as memorable as the infamous trilogy. Still excellent though, and the lyrical shift to mythology was really on point. Immolation - Close to a World Below: self-explanatory. One of the best death metal albums of this century, and ever. The atmosphere is downright hellish, tons of well-executed, almost mesmerizing riffs.
  4. Varathron - His Majesty at The Swamp
  5. The same logic could be applied to death metal, I guess. The vast majority of new bands in my country follows the approach of modern brutal death metal in the vein of Hour of Penance, but there are some hidden gems here and here.
  6. It's a pretty well known pc program
  7. Claude's Confessions and The Ladies' Delight are two of Zola's books I'd recommend reading. I think it's safe to admit DsO is massively influenced by existentialism, and by gnosticism to a certain degree. I have been always interested in philosophy though, and this subject definetely made me appreciate their music even more
  8. I enjoy authors like Orwell, Ambrose Bierce, Edgar Allan Poe and Emile Zola a lot I love existentialism too, perhaps due to the influence of Deathspell Omega. I also like ancient philosophical doctrines like Pythagoreanism
  9. Demoncy - Empire of The Fallen Angel
  10. Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
  11. In regards of literature and philosophy, I have some authors/movements that I like more than others, but overall I love every aspect of those subjects, so I'd gladly study both of them. The problem is I'm not very interested in law, nor in business. By the way, how your experience in philosophy was?
  12. I'm a little bit worried about my future now, as I have to choose what college should I go in, and I only have a couple of months left to decide (here in Italy school system is a little bit different, we actually call it "university"). I excel at humanities, philosophy and literature in particular, although I cand handle English pretty well too. I'm pandering about this decision from a long time, still haven't figured out the best option.
  13. Deathspell Omega - The Synarchy of Molten Bones
  14. Necrodeath - Fragments of Insanity
  15. It's pretty good, but it might take a while to get accustomed to. Songs are pretty lenghty, which means that probably listening to the album in a fragmentary way would be detrimental for your experience. It somewhat reminds me a of Redemption at the Puritan's Hand, but It's a while I didn't listen to the band so I might be completely wrong in this statement.
  16. Primordial - Exile Amongst the Ruins
  17. 7/10 early Paradise Lost is some of the best death/doom ever, not much to say about that. This band is classified on Metal Archives as "Epic death metal", whilst I think it's just straight tech/death
