Fabulousdisaster88 given a Damn from salmonellapancake in Does anyone know what chords and scales he uses throughout the piece?
Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what chords and scales he's using throughout this piece, I can't seem to figure it out. Also, does anyone know what tuning he's in? Even if the chords are just simple 5th and 7th chords or something, please try to be as specific as possible. Thanks!

You'd probably like the Nocturnus albums "The Key" and "Thresholds". They're pretty progressive and technical, as well as some of the finest early Death Metal works. They remind me of Death a bit.
Also, you should try Edge of Sanity's "Crimson" album. It took me a while to appreciate it, but it's easily one of the best Progressive Death Metal albums ever. Also somewhat in this vein is Pestilence's "Testimony of the Ancients" album and Cynic's "Focus".
On the heavier side of things, you may like some of Master's early work, too.
I know these are all albums but I have a hard time breaking things down to songs. I usually just listen to full albums.

Hello, I'm looking for song suggestions based on my favorite songs of all time which I'm about to tell you: Spirit Crusher-Death, Moonlight Equilibrium-Black Dahlia, Flattening of Emotions-Death, Breaking the Broken-Control Denied, Charging the void/Recharging the void-Vektor, Bound by Desire-Revocation, Point of no return-Havok, DOA-Havok, Heartwork-Carcass, Pierced From Within-Suffocation, As grace Descends-Suffocation, Kaleb-Battlecross, Immortality made flesh-Exmortus, Triumph by Fire-Exmortus, Akroasis-Obscura. As you can see if you've heard these songs, I'm very into a melodic and progressive songs, I love songs with a very epic progression, songs with a climax, like near the end of bound by desire. I LOVE Chuck Schuldiner anything with Chuck in it I've heard, anything that's similar to Chuck Schuldiner's progressive-death style please tell me. I don'tt like power metal I like that cinematic theatric sound but I hate the clean vocals. Suggestions? Thanks!

Hello, what do you all think are the most beautiful and or emotional metal songs? I'm thinking along the lines of voice of the soul by death. Nothing by a band with veil in their name, (black veil brides, pierce the veil) no bands that give metal a bad rep like those two listed. Thanks!?

Fabulousdisaster88 given a Damn from salmonellapancake in NEW KREATOR SONG!!!
What are your thoughts on the new Kreator song? If you haven't heard it, I HIGHLY recommend it. After the very kreatorish melodic intro it goes into an insanely sick riff that reminds me of a cross between phantom antichrist and extreme aggression. I think this album along with their last 4 releases are (and in the new album's case will be) thrash classics of the 21st century.

Fabulousdisaster88 given a Damn from salmonellapancake in Recommended Black Metal bands?
Hello, the mourning palace by dimmu borgir along with gateways, and some immortal stuff like mighty ravendark has hooked me on black metal. I love the black metal tremolo picked riffs you here at the end of mourning palace and the riff right after they say "forever more" in gateways. I know these riffs are all over black metal but where can I find the best? Thanks! Also, being one of the more popular black metal bands is dimmu borgir hated on a lot by elitists?

Fabulousdisaster88 given a Damn from True Belief in "Accelerating riffs?" Death
Hello, I've been listening to death for a while now and I love them! All my favorite death songs have a certain type of riff in them, which I call "accelerating riffs." The ones I'm talkin about are the chorus riff in without judgement, the riff in spirit crusher where while he says "monster at heart!" and right before that, the riff in spirit crusher that lasts from 2:25ish to 2:55ish, and the riff from pull the plug that lasts from 0:25ish to 0:50ish. Is this constant in death metal? Is it in a different genre? Which genre uses it most? I haven't listened to much death metal other than a ton of deaths music. If anyone knows other songs with riffs like this please give me some suggestions. Please help! I need more!

I 1st started when I was 9 or 10, I think, or there about on Bass, Stanley Clark of all people. Don't even ask why lol. Then Pastorius! Wow! Then I moved on to Flea (who is exceptional). Then I moved on to Classical guitar, spent a lot of time practicing and having no life. Leave a week of practice out and your fingerings were off. Dedication and respect to those. Paco De Lucia inspired me, then I just stumbled across guitar. Played some piano in-between, was never really that good with piano, again one of those instruments you need to live and truly want to be great at playing.

I think the 1st instrument you learn ultimately dictates what way you write, maybe I could be wrong. A lot of people have said I play and write or jam very rhythmically, almost like a bassist! haha...

Old habits die hard I suppose.
For me now, I am mediocre at best. I just like to use instruments to make noise. Drums though I never could get the knack of.

Fabulousdisaster88 gave a Damn to FatherAlabaster in Instruments
I'm still good friends with most of the people I've played music with. If you've known each other that long, you have nothing to worry about, maybe you can jam on the side once you've gotten something more fulfilling started up. It's great to play with people who will push you out of your box, but it's counterproductive to try forming a thrash band with someone who doesn't share your tastes.

So he doesn't practice, doesn't have the right equipment, and doesn't like the music you want to play? You don't have a drummer, you just know a dude who can play drums. Don't waste time trying to make music with people that far removed from what you want to do.

I'm in kinda of a similar situation I have a drummer but he barely practices anymore because of baseball and he refuses to get a double bass because he doesent even like metal. He wants to have original songs but he doesent write anything. Soooo, I write everything and I only write to enjoy myself, consequently I only write metal. I've offered to go back to just sabbath and acdc covers but he says we need to experiment yet he's too stubborn to get a double bass. I don't know, I'm trying to subtlety ditch him, I really want a true dedicated thrash metal band.

Thanks! The band didn't show at the venue so I never got to try out, which blows. But now I'm trying to form my own band called, (please no one steal this) apocalyptic clash.
