  1. In a couple of days, flying to see a sister I haven't seen in 13 years and another sister I haven't seen in 20 years. It's a very, very long time coming. And I am both nervous and so excited!
I hope you have a great time! Despite the fact that our weather is doing weird shit right now... may you have a safe voyage, clement skies, etc.
  2. Hahaha no I don't :D I'm cooking my own food because I don't like that shit they serve at the university. And I enjoy cooking. p.s. Croatia has a beautiful sea' date=' the Adriatic sea, so it's not really continental European mentality :D My town, Pula, was one of the biggest harbors of the Austro-Hungarian empire and Rome. :)[/quote'] I hear you, our school food wasn't much good either. I honestly wish I was surrounded by that much history. The "continental European mentality" thing was just a little joke...:)
  3. See, Iceni? It's all a matter of priorities. For some it's French class; for others, Pokemon.

I've been cooking my own meals since the first day of college thank you very much :D
This is that classic, underachieving continental European mentality we hear so much about. I bet you repair your own clothing, as well...:D
  4. Re: Whatcha Eatin'?

Well you must consider that NYC is bigger than my whole country :D
Is it really? It wouldn't surprise me. I'm constantly amazed by the number of restaurants everywhere I go. And they're all specialized in some way, which was weird for me to get used to at first; Vietnamese, Ethiopian, southern American style chicken and biscuits, pizza, middle eastern food. Where I grew up, most restaurants served lots of different stuff and culturally specific cuisine was the exception rather than the norm.
  5. Wow, it's hard for me to think of something you can't find in NYC - so much different Asian, South American, African, European, and regional American food. I had an awesome burrito last night with pork, radishes, cheese, beans, potatoes, and salsa verde.

  6. Thickhëad and Æpefæce have announced their collaboration on a new book, to be entitled "Of Course It Matters: a densely verbose and torturously exhaustive multi-theoretical disquisition on the origins of nearly everything, from several opposing viewpoints". Steven King raves, "brutally thorough! Makes The Stand look like a letter to Reader's Digest!" "It'll suck you in," gushes Stephen Hawking. "You might need a diaper change after this one." One thing's for sure: once you start, you won't be able to put it down!

  7. Food trucks, there's no laxative that can compare. What's with so many crappy frozen yogurt stores referencing Pinkberry by including the word "berry" in their names? Smart marketing, failure of imagination, or both?
