  1. Iceni and Ghouly flank and attack the radical feminists with logical arguments, leaving you defenseless at the top of your hill. I play a sample from Sarcofago's album INRI, and you chase off after it, realizing that it might be the most legit thing you've ever heard.:D My hill.

  2. Calculating Infinity and Irony is a Dead Scene (featuring Mike Patton on vocals) are both insane and excellent.
Totally agree. I love both those albums. Other metal/hardcore crossovers I enjoy are Converge's "When Forever Comes Crashing" (and actually their newest one is pretty good too), the one full-length by As The Sun Sets, Daughters' album "Canada Songs", an album by Oroku that I think is called Living Through The End Of Time (cool cello stuff!), at least one of Puritan (PA)'s two recordings, various crust punk and grind (fucking love Discordance Axis), and arguably Assuck, some Neurosis, some Isis...
  3. I wondered how long it'd be before she came to be a topic of discussion.:D She's attractive' date=' a competent bass player and seems a nice enough person.[/quote'] I gather that's as close as you'll come to a flat-out "Yes"...:D
  4. While you're distracted by Relentless, I give Chthonic's bass player a plane ticket back to Taiwan. As she's boarding the plane, you notice and chase after her desperately, jumping through the hatch at the last possible moment. The plane carries you both away, leaving me alone on my hill.

  5. You sir are in for some entertaining times! Denouement is slowly replacing Novit... as my preferred release by Abyssal. Parasignosis is just mindblowing in it's building of structures and appropriate with its subtle BM fills.
I've been listening to Parasignosis on Youtube for a while, but this is the first time I've heard Denouement, and it kicks ass. I put up a brief review in the "what are you listening to" thread. The riffs are fucking awesome! I feel like {long latin title} has a bit more depth, but this one is more immediately enjoyable. I have you to thank for recommending Abyssal in the first place. Parasignosis has a lot of interesting variation, some great textures. I'm glad to have it in high quality, it really makes a difference.
  6. Abyssal - Denoument I love the riffs on this. The guitar work is brilliant (reminiscent of Ulcerate). My first impression is that it's a more enjoyable listen than Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius, but it lacks a bit of the depth of that album. The fuzzy guitar tone is great, and maybe a bit more clear on this album; I wish the vocals were similarly prominent. I'm not fond of the incessant vocal doubling, and I'm almost entirely sure the drums are programmed - on such a "dirty" recording, they stick out as fake-sounding. (I don't have a problem with the use of programmed drums, but in this case too many of the snare and cymbal hits, and tom fills, are identical. This isn't mechanical music, so the aesthetic doesn't match up and it feels a bit lazy as a result.) These production choices detract from the atmosphere of the album for me, even though I think I prefer the drier and more direct tone of this recording to the overtly "drowned" tone of the follow-up. Overall, though, I'm really liking this even on first listen. This band is one of my favorite recent discoveries.

  7. Be aware that pretty much none of us mosh. I can only speak for myself but I'm of the opinion that moshing is unhealthy' date=' looks stupid and isn't really that fun to begin with. Headbanging is more accepted hereabouts.[/quote'] I do. It's fun. Provided that my snorkel is properly adjusted. Headbanging is bad for your neck.
  8. I bring buckets of sand from Mars and keep dumping them in the ocean until they build up enough to make a hill. Sadly, my actions raise the global water level, completely submerging many coastal cities along with your insignificant desert island... but at least I've got my hill.

  9. Deftones- Saturday Night Wrist Pretty underrated album. The phrase 'grower not a shower' comes to mind.
I had the opposite experience. I liked it ok at first, but the more I listened to it the less I enjoyed it. I haven't put that one on in years. It probably gets about as much play as Adrenaline. They're a lot more focused now.
