  1. The gf just asked me for some of my music as she is finally growing out of 80s pop music.  Playing it safe with "Transcendence" by Crimson Glory to see how she fairs with that as she likes Queensryche and I am trying to link up from there and the nearest thing in my library is Crimson Glory.

  2. Okay, this is meant to be constructive criticism so please take it in the context it is meant.  That track was really, really dull.  You basically loop the same riff progression for 4 and a half minutes.  There's no variety, no time change, no attempt at giving the listener something different (even if only for a few seconds).  There isn't even any lead work which makes me wonder if you are a band with (some members at least) still learning to play?

Vocally though is where I think the strength in the track lies.  The vocals are the only part I remember after the track finishes playing you just need to shape the rest of your sound to have some variety in it.  Doesn't have to be amazing sonics either, just chop it up a bit more.

  3. Just went upstairs and found literally 15 wasps buzzing around up there.  Had to shut all windows and returned with a can of repellent and dove around the bedroom like Bruce Willis in a Die Hard film blasting the stingy bastards.  The consequence of this is that I "ate" a significant quantity of aforementioned repellent and now am finding it hard to breath as well as being quite light headed.  Chemical highs are bad kids.

Met up with a young lady I hadn't seen in nearly 8 years on Wednesday afternoon and ended up staying the night, somehow managed to dislocate my shoulder early the following morning,

All of the albums have a bit of that tongue-in-cheek feel, but it was more overt on the first two than it was on "Nightwork" and "Death's Design". Give those two a chance, they're some really enjoyable music, and better realized than the debut.

Will check em out this week as should be at home most of the week.

    Gruesome "Dimensions of Horror"

They're one of my favorites, hope you enjoy. "Ravendusk" is a great debut, but very silly; "Nightwork" is a collection of solid songs, and "Death's Design" is an interesting take on the concept album format. I'm not as big on "The Phantom Lodge" as I am on the others.

Yeah there are some strong bits on "Ravendusk" but the theatrics in the vocal department aren't really necessary but I like the dark feel to proceedings on the whole.

  7. So Matt Harvey's side project of total and unashamed Death worship has just knocked out release number two in a year.  "Dimensions of Horror" is an EP as opposed to last year's full length "Savage Land" but I have to say that I find it really entertaining.  Despite the obvious bumming of Death (even the font on the logo is the same) I find Gruesome just really fun to listen to, there's more to it than the sound just pandering to the listener's Leprosy and Scream Bloody Gore nostalgia.  There is also an exploration of Florida DM styles in general, however I am not sure how many records this can go on for?

    Great news BAN.

In job related news I screwed up my job interview on Friday by completely missing the red herring in the assessment that was a sheet of data. In the grand scheme of things it meant nothing to the actual core issue (role play) and I focused on it far too much in my four hour assessment. Still, I like my current job and there is no harm in trying, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Apparently I am still a serious contender for the post despite the guff highlighted above.  At the point now where I just want to know so I can make a decision and get on with life either way.
