Been craving this on vinyl all week whilst I have been away.

Macabre, do you listen to this album at all?

I have it and enjoy it when I remember it, don't visit it often though.

Ghoulgotha - To Starve The Cross

This is interesting. I like the occasional nods to old melodic DM and Peaceville Three scattered throughout. Some pretty inventive riffs. The songwriting is too haphazard IMO, I'd have to spend more time to really get into it.

I wrote on my blog that in terms of progression from album one to album two there has been a big step up, however there's still a bit of work to be done in terms of development which makes album three quite key.  The debut is just a tad dull but this release pushes things that bit more and I am sure track two is made up as they go along.  They do have a track called "Village of Flickering Torches" which is just a perfect song title.

Benge "Forms 3 - Controls,Sources & Treatments" a bit of noise to comfort my aching head tonight.

  3. This is the problem with music though. If you like a band then just enjoy them.  If I say Metallica haven't released a decent record since "And Justice For All...." I wouldn't waste your time getting mad about it or mad at me. Just accept that people have differing thoughts and opinions than you musically yet may lack the maturity to express them sensibly.

  4. I'm bummed for my wife, she got food poisoning from her birthday dinner and she's been curled up in misery all day today. Nothing to do but take my son outdoors so she can get some rest.

Food poisoning is the worst. Hope she is feeling better soon.

  5. Goulgotha - "To Starve The Cross" - this is a nice find (discovered it slightly drunk last night so decided to spin it again in the cold light of day) death doom done with variety and without fear of melody to add to the atmosphere.  Some very different sounding structure going on at times nodding to a more technically minded set of musicians than the majority sound indicates.
