Re: Movies Have any of you seen the film "It Might Get Loud"? It's a documentary about Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White. It first lets them explain their different styles and then puts them in a room together with a few guitars. It might be mainstream, but it is definitley worth watching (and listening!)

Re: Guns N' Roses I don't like all country... but Cash is special. Not like the achy breaky heart guy. (Though he has a fine daughter.) That's pretty much all the country you get around here, Johnny Cash and achy breaky heart. But some of the old country women like Dolly Parton have truly awesome voices, just their songs are a bit too corny for me at times.

Re: Queen I guess converting BlutAusNerd to a Queen fan is worth the 100th post Yes, Freddies voice and singing technique changed quite a lot. On the first 5 or so albums it was very high at times, but grew steadily deeper and in some respect more powerful I guess. It peaked in a song called "Mother Love", which was the last song he ever recorded, just a few months before his death. I'll post another link, just listen to it, this is a man already given up by doctors, barely able to stand at a microphone. Never mind the cheesy video, just listen to the voice. It's just sad... the whole thing with him and Sharon insisting on there being no more Sabbath without Ozzy and then not doing anything with Sabbath! There's two people who have killed a band, even worse than what Yoko Ono did to the Beatles.

There are some good riffs, but as soon as the songs start properly, they are let down by the weak singing, the weak production, the weak playing... just weak. Seriously, Hell Bent For Leather? Great riff, but then Halfords singing is as thin as a schoolgirls... something and it just takes the whole song down with it. Never liked them, never will.

Re: Bon Jovi Well I do like Queen, so that might disqualify me... but yeah, Glam Metal/ hair metal / 80's LA metal / Judas Priest-influenced leather metal, they all should be used as capital punishment.

Re: Death I don't know what it feels like to be dead and I don't want to know. But I know what it feels like to be dying and it's not a lot of fun. Cold, hard, lonely and there is no light at the end of the tunnel, there's not even a tunnel, ther'es just nothing and nothing is fucking scary. Needless to say I was too scared to go through with it. But I don't believe in any romantic way of looking at death anymore. LaVey, Religion, they're all wrong.
