if you haven't already I highly recommend reading the original novel by Michel Crichton Its just as good as the movie in my opinion. I just finished rewatching Nosferatu last night and watched the 1925 version of phantom of the opera and I'm surprised silent horror films don't get talked about much anymore its very interesting.

What are some good examples of proto-extreme metal?
agamerwholovesmetal replied to agamerwholovesmetal's question in Questions & Answers
when I wrote this, I was struggling to come up with a way to describe what I was thinking. maybe a better way to describe this is that these where influences on early extreme metal bands like venom and mercyful fate and eventually slayer and exodus when they came along. -

I'm not even sure if that's what you would call it but I'm referring any band, album, or demo that came out before venom's debut in 1981 (lets say from 1978-1980) that kind of foreshadowed the faster, more aggressive, dark, and satanic direction the genre would eventually go in. ones that came to mind for me were Angel witches first two demos (lyrically) Motorheads overkill, bomber, and ace of spades Witchfynde's self titled Diamond head's lightning to the nations (specifically for thrash) -
EOTY Listmania Extravaganza 2023
agamerwholovesmetal replied to SurgicalBrute's topic in General Chat
I'm in the same boat haven't listened to many new albums this year but I'm going to go with Sodomy's self-titled for best of the year really reminds me of Bathory's first record and honestly the first wave style of black metal just isn't seen all that much anymore or at least I don't know any more the only other albums I heard from this year where Cancer Christ satan is a bitch which was really fun and Metallica's 72 seasons which after the new album smell wore off is in the same boat as their last two records for me where I'll only listen to a few select songs from the album occasionally intel I get the desire to listen to the thing again. -
