  15. if you haven't already I highly recommend reading the original novel by Michel Crichton Its just as good as the movie in my opinion. I just finished rewatching Nosferatu last night and watched the 1925 version of phantom of the opera and I'm surprised silent horror films don't get talked about much anymore its very interesting.
  16. Kill em all (1983) - metallica No sanctuary the spiderleg recordings (2008) - amebix
  17. when I wrote this, I was struggling to come up with a way to describe what I was thinking. maybe a better way to describe this is that these where influences on early extreme metal bands like venom and mercyful fate and eventually slayer and exodus when they came along.
  18. I'm not even sure if that's what you would call it but I'm referring any band, album, or demo that came out before venom's debut in 1981 (lets say from 1978-1980) that kind of foreshadowed the faster, more aggressive, dark, and satanic direction the genre would eventually go in. ones that came to mind for me were Angel witches first two demos (lyrically) Motorheads overkill, bomber, and ace of spades Witchfynde's self titled Diamond head's lightning to the nations (specifically for thrash)
  19. I'm in the same boat haven't listened to many new albums this year but I'm going to go with Sodomy's self-titled for best of the year really reminds me of Bathory's first record and honestly the first wave style of black metal just isn't seen all that much anymore or at least I don't know any more the only other albums I heard from this year where Cancer Christ satan is a bitch which was really fun and Metallica's 72 seasons which after the new album smell wore off is in the same boat as their last two records for me where I'll only listen to a few select songs from the album occasionally intel I get the desire to listen to the thing again.
  20. season of the dead (1987) - necrophagia ready for death (1990) - necrophagia
  21. it probably just choses whatever is the most talked about albums in the genre and it still got a ton of stuff wrong
  22. This was inspired by rocked on youtube. I put in the question what are the 10 best black metal albums into google bard and this is the response I got. Here are 10 of the most highly regarded and influential black metal albums of all time: "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" by Mayhem (1994): This seminal album is considered a cornerstone of black metal, with its raw, atmospheric sound and vocalist Euronymous's infamous shrieking vocals. "Filosofem" by Burzum (1994): Another groundbreaking album, "Filosofem" is known for its dark, introspective lyrics and its minimalist, atmospheric sound. "Under a Funeral Moon" by Darkthrone (1992): This album is considered a classic of early Norwegian black metal, with its raw, lo-fi production and its mix of slow, atmospheric passages and fast, tremolo-picked riffs. "In the Nightside Eclipse" by Emperor (1994): This album is known for its symphonic black metal sound, with its soaring melodies and intricate arrangements. "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" by Emperor (1997): This album is considered a masterpiece of symphonic black metal, with its epic scope and its seamless blend of aggression and melody. "Storm of the Light's Bane" by Dissection (1995): This album is known for its melodic black metal sound, with its soaring guitar solos and its catchy hooks. "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" by Burzum (1994): This album is a more experimental and ambient take on black metal, with its minimalist sound and its ethereal atmosphere. "Panzerfaust" by Darkthrone (2004): This album is a return to the raw, lo-fi sound of Darkthrone's early days, with its uncompromising aggression and its bleak, nihilistic lyrics. "Les Fleurs du Mal" by Blut Aus Nord (2002): This album is a complex and challenging blend of black metal, avant-garde music, and classical music. "Kveldssang" by Windir (1997): This album is a unique blend of black metal and folk music, with its atmospheric melodies and its use of traditional Norwegian instruments. These are just a few of the many great black metal albums that have been released over the years. The genre is known for its diversity and its ever-evolving sound, so there is sure to be something for everyone. and just as proof that I actually did this
