  1. Fair question, my friend! Ever since Cradle of Filth's new album came out a little over a week ago, I haven't listened to a single other band. I have most definitely fallen into a 24/7 Cradle of Filth cycle, and I'm loving every bit of it. Cradle of Filth - "Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder" (album)
  2. Cradle of Filth - "Cryptoriana - the Seductiveness of Decay" (album)
  3. Cradle of Filth - "Damnation and a Day" (album)
  4. Oh man I haven't seen it! Thanks for the heads-up. I can't wait to watch it now. I've been checking out some recent interviews with Dani Filth lately to hear him talk about the new album. He's penned some of the greatest lyrics in the history of metal. I'm currently listening through "The Manticore and Other Horrors". I can't get enough of that album lately!
  5. Same here! I absolutely loved "Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa"! I think the overall reception by critics and fans was a bit mixed, but I feel the same as you: I thought it was a home run. I haven't listened to anything else besides Cradle of Filth for more than a week now, and I'm loving every second of it. I know we've already acknowledged how difficult it would be to rank their discography, but I'm up for trying it! I'll put my list together and see what you think!
  6. Yeah man it's difficult! The two albums I see that usually get the most flack from a lot of fans are "Thornography" and "The Manticore and Other Horrors", but I absolutely love both of those albums. What do you think of "Existence is Futile" so far? I'd probably already rank it in the top 3 or 4 in their entire catalog - it's that good!
  7. Oh man that's awesome! I was wondering how the "Re-mistressed" version would sound. I grabbed it on Apple Music a few days ago, right after getting "Existence is Futile", and I'm also pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. "Cruelty and the Beast" is one of the greatest albums ever recorded, and now it sounds even better! I own all of Cradle of Filth's albums, and I always struggle to figure out how I'd rank their discography, because I literally enjoy all of their albums. The mighty "Nymphetamine" will always be in the #1 spot for me, but after that, I could rank them in any order depending on the day. Do you have a favorite Cradle album?
  8. Cradle of Filth - "Cruelty and the Beast" (album)
  9. Cradle of Filth - "Hammer of the Witches" (album)
  10. Cradle of Filth - "Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa (album)
  11. Cradle of Filth - "Existence is Futile" Absolutely loving this new album. It's been out for 3 days now, and I've listened to it numerous times all the way through. Their best album in 17 years - since the mighty "Nymphetamine"
  12. Cradle of Filth - "Thornography" (album)
  13. Awesome! I'll have to check that one out! Cradle of Filth has a lot of cool covers. Their newest album is no exception!
  14. I know I just posted about this yesterday, but man I'm digging the new Cradle of Filth! Their best album in 17 years - since my favorite of theirs of all time, "Nymphetamine". It's also caused me to dive back into their entire catalog, which I already own but hadn't revisited in awhile. Rediscovering what made them one of my top 10 favorite bands of all!
  15. Cradle of Filth - "Existence is Futile" (album) Been waiting anxiously for this one for quite some time! I'm absolutely loving this. It's a great mix of a lot of previous albums all rolled into one. Dani sounds great, and the orchestral arrangements are very well done. I didn't think it was likely for me to enjoy this new album more than I enjoyed "Hammer of the Witches", but I have to say I'm liking this one even more!
  16. What an incredible album! Laid the blueprint for what traditional heavy metal would look like moving forward (in addition to the groundwork Sabbath had already laid). When I saw them live last month, they played "Victim of Changes", and Rob hit just about all of the notes - absolutely amazing! Shadow of Intent - "Melancholy" (album)
  17. Man, great choices all over the place! Motley Crue is always a great option. "Arise" is just classic Sepultura. It's a 3-way tie for me when it comes to my favorite Sepultura album - among "Beneath the Remains", "Arise", and "Chaos A.D." Great call with "Low" from Testament as well, an album that came from an era of the band where they experimented with a sound that resembled death metal in some ways. Cattle Decapitation - "Death Atlas" (album)
  18. Right now: Lorna Shore Slaughter to Prevail Once Human Machine Head Lamb of God
  19. Once Human - "Evolution" (album)
  20. Truly a modern masterpiece that deserves all of the acclaim it gets. RIP to Riley, gone at age 33. Not sure if the band will want to continue with a new vocalist, but man they were headed for great things. Slaughter to Prevail - "Kostolom" (album)

    Hi

Cool! I'm sure you're already familiar with Misery Index, but they're one of my favorites as well.

    Hi

You also mentioned you like death metal, right? Hate Eternal is my favorite death metal band, and I also like Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Jungle Rot, Necrophagist, Indwelling, Sacrificium, and Tortured Conscience.

    Hi

Yeah, I only enjoy their very early material. There are a couple of funeral doom bands I like, such as Tyranny and Ahab, if you've ever heard their stuff before. Funeral is great, too!

    Hi

Okay gotcha. That's great! We all have our own tastes. I enjoy quite a bit of doom, myself. My Dying Bride, Solitude Aeturnus, Saturnus, older material from Paradise Lost, older material from Anathema, Pantheist, Colosseum, Void of Silence, and the greatest doom band ever to exist, in my opinion: CANDLEMASS!
