I started listening to it before I got down to the zappy bits. The drumming has definitely got some balls behind it. Rob can still give it the ole JP scream too. Sounds okay so far.
I'm here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress!

I am not embarrassed to admit I listen to JP but I think I'd be embarrassed to admit I knew what something called Aqua Teen Hunger Force is.

Only giving electronics work a portion of your attention is not a great idea. I've zapped myself a few times when I wasn't paying attention and I'm sure I'll zap myself again one day and not that many people would care but for my own safety I probably shouldn't give myself the opportunity to feel too many amps through my body.
What I really need is for my wife to go out instead of being home and watching TV, while telling me it's too hot to be outside, then I could crank the stereo up!

Fair point!  Whenever you have the opportunity, I'd be eager to hear your thoughts.  It's a little after 10 p.m. here on the east coast of the U.S., and I'm about to crank up the volume and blast the album once again!

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I didn't realize Exhorder has a new album coming out!  It's been amazing to have them back on the scene after a 27-year gap between full-length studio releases.  "Mourn the Southern Skies" (2019) still gets heavy rotation for me - I love it to death.
But back to the kings of traditional metal, that trip to the workshop sounds like just what the doctor ordered.  However, if you feel like you could give it more attention in a different setting, then I'd definitely understand that, too.  "Invincible Shield" is a great album - if you don't initially think it's anything special, I'd encourage you to stick with it, because it may take some time to get into it.  Or, at least, that's what happened to me.  But hey, you might end up loving it right away.  Long live the Priest!

Given Exhorder's last album I am hoping for something with a bit more punch this time. I did listen to the first single they released but I obviously didn't commit it to memory because I feel like I'll be listening to this album blind with no idea what the new sound will be. Slaughter and The Law are still two albums on high rotation in my house.
I like 72 Seasons too, not sure I love it because I haven't listened to it more than a few times, but I do agree with the way you look at such albums.
It's a bit warm here at the moment (36C and still rising) and I was going to go out in the workshop and listen to JP while I do some electrical work but maybe I need to give it full attention.

Still quite a lot of reviews out there claiming it to be better than Firepower. I haven't had a chance to listen to Priest or Exhorder yet but hopefully it will happen soon.

It certainly has, my metal friend!  I've been listening to it non-stop today!  Upon first listen, if I had to pick two favorite tracks, they would be "Crown of Horns" and "Vicious Circle".  I have enjoyed the whole album and have been a bit surprised by it.  It is definitely a different vibe from "Firepower", which is my second favorite Priest album overall.  "Invincible Shield" isn't as heavy, so it took me a few tracks to really get into the flow of it - but upon repeated listens, it is a magnificent album.  Halford sounds incredible, and the guitar work is fantastic as always.  My favorite traditional metal band never disappoints.

Judas Priest day, as well as Exhorder. I know the excitement level for both around here is huge (and largely denied).

The whole album is on YT, not sure if it's official, probably not.
Second listen and I still think it's not bad. Was surprised to read yesterday that of all his and Maiden's songs the hardest song for him to sing is Aces High, which is why it's always early in the set. He does point out his solo stuff being written by him is usually easier on his voice than some of the Maiden stuff and I think that can be heard in this album.

Yeah I'm not surprised it's fake, there was only one site reporting on it for several hours. I can't imagine that would have happened had it been real news.
I say good luck to Slayer. I don't care if they want retirement money or they are doing it because they miss it. They went out on top and they'll come back on top and unless they have absolutely terrible gigs they'll go back out on top. I really don't see this being a huge reunion with a big tour or anything, but I could be wrong.

Someone is trying to start a story that the 'reunion' has been organise without Kerry's authorisation and that he's not part of it so he's getting his lawyers involved but I wasn't able to confirm the story (and didn't try too hard).

I'm pretty sure my old man's not doing it to make me feel uncomfortable because he knows it doesn't. He's doing it too make excuses for not being as enthusiastic about things as he once was. He's doing it to remind me that although the house is technically on my dirt it's still his house and he'll do what he fucking likes when he likes.
We've talked open and honestly about death for a long time. Being executor and enduring power of attorney for both my parents I've known exactly what they want to happen and how much of it they have organised. I even know what they'll leave behind and what they'll be worth when they go.
My dad was faced with his father's dying bullshit where my grand father orchestrated a rift so deep between Dad and his brother that they would never talk again after his death. He planned it long before he died and it played out almost fucking perfectly because Dad's brother hasn't spoken to any of us since the will was read. Dad (as executor) even went against the will and gave his brother an equal share of the estate. But the fact that his own father actually wanted to give my uncle as little as legally possible and gave him no say on the estate drove the wedge deep. 10 or so years on that wedge is still there and that made my old man the polar opposite to his dad.

My parents wouldn't expect us to look after them. Mow the lawn, clean the house maybe that sort of stuff but if they can't cook for themselves they'll put themselves into a retirement home. The time will come when they want to get out of the house they are in, mum already pays a gardener to do the any gardening that isn't vegetable. Dad just seems to want to remind me constantly that it's going to happen. What he doesn't realise is that I know it's going to happen and I have plans for that bit of dirt!!

Geez I'd be fucked if I was going to have to rely on my kids to look after me. They know how to cook, clean, tend to the right things etc etc, but like me at that age they make fucking useless care givers.
Whenever anything gets done around my parents house, like adding some solar panels to the shed or cleaning the gutters or lopping trees, my old man always has the brightest outlook lately. "Well, I wont be here when those next need cleaning." "That's an issue for the next owner." "That will last longer than I will." I got over thinking about it a while ago and now days just throw back a smart arse comment like "then why the fuck are we doing it", or "fair enough lets fucking ignore it and hope it goes away for a few years." The problem with either statement is that my brother and I, more likely I, will be the ones that deal with it because when my parents get out of the house, no matter where they go, we are the next owners.

Home electrician for decades. I love making circuits. I once made a guitar pedal for my cuz. I'm currently making a voltage sensitive relay to switch a battery in and out of a solar system.

My first amplifier was a 25W four channel valve amp that I made myself.
(I realise the topic is about guitar amps but I don't care I just want to be involved!)
