  1. There is nothing wrong with ponderous and sprawling. Not offended, but I'm a bit of an Aosoth fanboy. I have two of their - ironically white (a bit ponderously ironic I guess). -shirts. And I've just been listening to some Underground Youth. New to me and now Thatguy approved. Thanks. GG.
  2. VITRIOL - Suffer & Become NOTHINGNESS - Supraliminal Both very noice indeed. NP - JAMES BRANDON LEWIS QUARTET - Transfiguration. This is saxophone playing! And what a band. There is a lot of second rate jazz (and second rate everything) around, but this is the real thing.
  3. For anyone so inclined, the 4th symphony is up. BELOW THE CLOUDS AND MIST - Symphony No.4 https://skybluesky.bandcamp.com/
  4. KRVVLA - X . Noice FARSOT - Life Promised Death. A bit tame.
  5. Welcome, young American. Crack on.
  6. It's a bit slowish and thoughtful and deeply textured - refined even...say no more!
  7. They do, and contrary to scurrilous assertions by the bent cucumber, I am exposed to whatever they serve up when I go shopping. Mainly oldies it seems. My wife might be able to pick a Taylor Swift song, but she is a good woman and wouldn't point it out to me. I will be going to the movies later today with her and the daughter - in the daughter's car and she certainly knows all about TS so I may be exposed. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. SPECTRAL VOICE - Sparagmos. Noice. OPHIS - Spew Forth Odium
  8. I'm sure it's a badge of honour here to say this, but I too have never consciously heard her music and have no idea what it is like.
  9. SUMAC - What One Becomes CLAIR CROSS - Sleep Cycle NP - CHELSEA WOLFE - She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She
  10. It depends, but usually more than you. The fucking Rolling Stones of metal. Yawn. CARPE NOCTEM - Vitrun NP - CLIFFDIVER - Cliffdiver (Ambient Extensions). Not many chords here, but that just goes to show that - as ever. - context is everything.
  11. ARAKK - Self & Distance CHAOS MOON - Escaton Mémoire Too much synth! It's pretty music with (electronic) drums and a bit of shrieking. Meh. No, worse than meh, fuck right off.
  12. Neither do I. Thank you Nasty. I agree with all you wrote here. They are a fun listen, innit? Neither you nor I are attempting to change the GG's mind - I just want to needle him a bit - but there are plenty here with different ears and some may appreciate the Arctopussy.. And, by the way all, the version of NNC Summoning I have is the one with the live versions of all the songs after the originals, proving - and it didn't need proving to me - that they ain't playing at random. The live versions are tight and almost the same as the originals. NP - KLAUSE SHULTZ & LISA GERRARD - Dziękuję Bardzo - Vielen Dank. Not metal at all but a nice way to start the day. Yeah, me too.
  13. KNOLL - As Spoken UNDERDARK - Managed Decline
  14. Beware, you have summoned Thatguy. This happens to be the only album of theirs that I own and I'm listening now. I had forgotten about this album. It is structurally quite conventional and the musicianship is of the highest calibre. Of course the Goat-in-chief would hate this, but give it another go, Ari, you're better than that. 🙃
  15. That was alright, and nice and short.
  16. LOCRIAN - Infinite Dissolution
  17. DEMONCY - Black Star Gnosis WORN MANTLE - Hole
  18. ARAKK - Under Søvnen. Two long songs. Long songs done right - full of terrible beauty.
  19. I've listened to bits and pieces of this guys output and I agree with your take. Too much dungeon synth by far but the guy is clearly talented. Many if not most solo metal artists need a band and this guy really really needs a band.
