Unborn gave a Damn to blaaacdoommmmfan in Short introduction
Hello. I've joined this to be able to have more people who like heavy metal to talk to as most people I know hate the genre with a passion.
First metal band I got into was Metallica with the black album. It's great but I quickly moved on to puppets album. I stopped listening to metal in late nineties as was fed up with the scene at the time but a few years ago I got back on the metal train as it was the only music I really connected with when I started listening to old sepultura cassettes which I  unearthed  when I was clearing the house.
Now I listen to all sorts of metal and some outside the box metal which is more individual thanks to metal hammer magazine and bloodstock festival. It would be much more difficult to find great metal without these. Pallbearer, wolves in the throne room, hamferd, nixa, gojira, et moriemur, baroness, acid reign thanks to bloodstock, jonestown, bismuth, dawn ray'd, illimitable dolor, winter sun, mispyrming, early opeth, anthrax, abyssic, slow, immortal, abbath, emperor, sepultura, rotting Christ, megadeth, valkenfyre, anon amarth, death, fear factory, machine head, paradise lost, trollfest etc.some of these bands I only have 1 album of there's I really like or even own.
    Cheers for now ??

What's up? I'm from Texas and I enjoy Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, and the almighty DEATH! I'd really like to branch out from just all the mainstream thrash and death metal.

Unborn gave a Damn to stonywings in Hii all!
Hi everyone! I am a 21 year old student from Norway. Ive been a metal fan since childhood, but never interacted much with the community. Naturally I am here to correct that mistake! On that note, nice to meet you~

Nemesea have some great stuff, but personally I believe the best stuff came from their earlier album "Mana", which is vastly different from "The Quiet Resistance". The track "Angel In The Dark" especially stands out. This is more symphonic than gothic though.

A great gothic band imo is "The Birthday Massacre". Depending on the song they can be more on the rock than metal side though. Been one of my favourite bands the last couple years.
A song that regularly switches between heavy guitars and light and sweet sections.

A song that got glued to the root of my brain instantly. great lyrics, catchy (but meaty) chorus and enthralling keys.

I challenge you not to get this song stuck in your head, One of their newer outings. It has the heaviness to satisfy and the dreaminess (with help from great visuals in the video) to make you lose yourself.

Unborn gave a Damn to FatherAlabaster in What's on your mind?
Got my first show with the new band tonight, at my favorite venue in town. I'm a little nervous but mostly excited. We've been putting a lot of work in and I hope it comes together well.
I also have a new illustration moving along pretty well, which is heartening -- it's one of those nice instances where a band likes my idea, and gives me enough creative freedom that I'm actually happy with the piece as a painting on its own merits. Not to say that I don't do my best on any of the jobs I get, but this is one of the few that I wouldn't mind hanging in a show of personal work when it's done. I think. Fingers crossed.

It's awesome to see another Katatonia fan around here. Always welcome! 'Tonight's Music' is such a great song from their best album. Man, it's so magical.

Welcome to the community. We're glad to have you here. I'm not much of a gothic metal fan though I dig when it crosses over with black or doom metal. Speaking of black metal Dissection are another reasonably well known band you might enjoy.

The movie itself, it has a pretty decent soundtrack and some of the Mayhem songs are re-recorded for it,, they also played Freezing Moon at the credits

I'm from Mexico, really into Symphonic and Gothic Metal, and I like Black Metal too, but it hasn't been a long time since i've been listening to it so i only know the more popular bands like Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum and Emperor, really hoping i can get to know a lot more of that genre in this forum.
So hope we can all get along!
