  1. Speaking of QR......just popped in Hittman's self-titled debut which is a great Warning-era Queensryche copy. Unfortunately came out 5-6 years too late for anyone to notice.
  2. Worth noting the band actually split after the Empire tour because they collectively thought they had done everything they could with Queensryche. Promised Land was cobbled together as a contractual obligation. Then EMI went under and De Garmo was left to do all the contract negotiations by himself to keep the band afloat. When HITNF flopped (De Garmo wrote something like 13 of the 14 songs) the band blamed him and resenting that after all the work he did, he mentally checked out. Anyway, he still writes music today so never say never.
  3. Kinda agree on most of this and FA's thoughts. Queensryche as an album is a good 'back to basics' effort, drawing a line in the sand from the Tate & Kelly Grey lead decade of crap. Production renders it almost unlistenable though. Of the 3 new songs, one is good and the other two pretty average. Am lead to believe however the best is on the album. Dunno. It's worth pointing out that De Garmo is not the panacea to everything - he was onboard for Hear in the Now Frontier which started the rot and came back in sorts on Tribe; plus he also had his own solo career which went nowhere. Having said that, would be great if he came back and contributed. They will never get back to the magic of the early days but I am happy just to have them back on board the metal train - even with slightly less than classic output.
  4. Can't stop listening to latest Amorphis guys. I know Eclipse gets the rave reviews and Skyforger was great, but Under a Red Cloud is instantly more appealing than that was (for me). Time will tell I guess.
  5. Streamed Atten Ash's "The Hourglass" through the car system for the 50min drive to work. This is my type of stuff! Thanks. Also like a band called Helevorn (album Forthcoming Displeasures) which is similar. Worth checking out.
  6. To be honest I overlooked that recommendation. I will certainly check it out though in the next couple of days.
  7. October Tide - Rain Without End.
  8. Clean parts is Exactly why I suspect I will rather like it!
  9. Thanks to all for the suggestions. Bergtatt sounds great on first listen. Being a fan of Agalloch and Alcest I can see where they drew influence. I imagine then that Kveldssanger will sound good too once I get there. Then I will work my way through to Nattens. Thumbs up to you all.
  10. Don't own any Ulver. Where would you suggest I start?
  11. Amorphis new one. So far in it's impressive but same template as the past 3-4 (which is fine by me). Have listened to whole thing twice now and it's great. Better use of harsh vocals than before when it seemed a bit of a token thing at times.
  12. Lol. Read a good interview with Todd Phillips the producer of Hated about what happened behind the scenes with GG while filming that doco. Had no idea John Wayne Gacy had a link to GG and the film.
  13. New ones by Wombbath and Undergang are ok.
  14. Naglfar - Diabolical. Do enjoy this album a lot.
  15. Green Inferno has been out for over a year now. Definitely a Cannibal Holocaust copy. Has had legal issues with distribution so not screened in a few countries.
  16. Currently listening to Novembre "The Blue". Prior to that a band called Nightfell. Death + Doom with a noticeable 'blackish' undertone. Album is "The Living ever Mourn". Kinda like this.
