I ignored it for a long time but now really enjoy it and HEart of Ages.

Yeah it has a "not quite right" vibe to it. The first 2:30 min in particular makes me think of being trapped in an amusement park after dark with some weird little dwarf stalking me with a real long knife all while I go round and round the carousel by myself.......and I just can't get off.

My main questions I have centre around what would prompt them to explore funeral doom on the 3rd disc?? What has lead them to that? Do the guys themselves find themselves listening to a lot of it or is it more of a 'let's explore this and see how we/it goes' type of scenario??

Lizzy Borden - Love You to Pieces.

Yeah, some moments here and there that 'touch' on earlier albums (Rage for Order and Promised Land spring to mind) but nothing that will ever be counted as 'one of their great songs' if you know what I mean. Solid album but not spectacular. Not convinced they have truly capitalised on the momentum and goodwill generated in the last few years ya know? Not an opportunity lost per se but certainly not quite what I had hoped for given the promise of the previous release ......

Queensryche "Condition Human". Lets just call it a grower.......

Paradise Lost - Seals the Sense EP. Only bought this for the song 'Sweetness' which is one of the best songs they ever wrote; and I am not sure how it never ended up on the Draconian Times album.
