  1. Re: What Are You Listening To?

They are a great band. What was your main influences behind this album? Or are there too many to name? :D
Yeah, wow, quite a few. Opeth, Katatonia, Akercocke, Enslaved, Cannibal Corpse, Nevermore, Deftones, My Dying Bride, a bunch of black metal, medieval music... aside from the music, I was having a pretty bad time in general, so I guess you could say it was inspired by the situation I was in. :D
  2. In the distance you me standing on another hill. My one's bigger :D my hill
You are dispatched by a lone grammarian with a rifle, who has been hunting you since you stopped using commas years ago, and was spurred into action by this last post of yours. He ushers me up to the top of the hill, with a stern admonition, "not to make those errors of which my forbear was most guilty". My hill.
  3. An enraged horde of fair trade coffee growers and qualified baristas swarms you, beating you senseless and then burying you beneath a mound of whole coffee beans. You return to consciousness briefly before you suffocate; your last thought is that your life turned out to be worth a hill of beans after all. While we mourn your passing, we make full use of the beans, and fertilize the next crop with your corpse. The coffee is delicious. Coffee shop's hill.

  4. Re: What Are You Listening To?

The day I can claim to speak for the forum is the day I start liking thrash!
I think I speak for all of us here when I say, "that'll be a cold day in Hell." Seriously, though, Sbird and I both like a good bit of what JBaker listens to. Oh, the shame... :D
  5. Kvelertak's popular tracks on Spotify' date=' just to get a taster. Really digging it. Mix of up-beat rock 'n' roll, punk and black metal... Although, I guess most of you guys probably already that and have decided you don't like it. Come on, I like it! :P[/quote'] Aw, c'mon, not everyone always completely hates everything you post. :D
  6. Black Harvest - Pathetic Labor I have recently purchased black harvests latest album off bandcamp. Fucking love your stuff father! I'll have to show some friends this :)
Thank you! Awesome! Thought I recognized that last name... heh. I'm glad you like it. The new one will be available very soon, I'm getting it mastered next week.
  7. That's the one I heard. Maybe I should listen again but I don't remember liking it.
It's not easy to get into, honestly. You might enjoy some of Bergtatt - it's vastly different - but you might find it too repetitive.
  8. My problem with the Ulver I heard was that it was monotonous.
I wonder what you'd think of Themes from The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell. Not metal, though there's a lot of metal influence, especially in the guitars... if you can put up with William Blake's text, which I doubt. Eh. I love this album, but it's an odd one.
  9. As you ponder Pete Steele's commandments (revealed in such tracks as "Kill All The White People", "Everyone I Love Is Dead", and "I Like Girls"), you realize that you're definitely not among the chosen. You sink into a black depression and slit your wrists in a public bathroom. We grind up your body for hors-d'oeuvres for the re-opening celebration for our restaurant, Big Grill On The Hill.

  10. Re: Now...?

Eating - nothing drinking - water Listening - Ulver Doing - basking in the magnificence of Bergtatt Thinking - hmm I think Iceni might like this
Everybody should like that album. But I don't know if it's complex enough for his taste.
  11. You're all wrong, anchovies are disgusting. They were perfected as a torture device in ancient China and smuggled over to Europe via the silk road sometime in the middle ages. As with so many awful things from the far east, no immunity existed in Europe, and when a tub of anchovies burst open accidentally, the entire continent was quickly overcome. Most people today are descendents of those who survived not only that tragedy, but the many waves of anchovies that occurred during the following centuries. Odds are you're immune to anchovies, but that's no reason to go around seeking them out.

  12. Re: What Are You Listening To?

Very few things top old MF for me, some of the most brilliantly written and performed metal ever. Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
I can't say I'm a fan of most of what King Diamond has done, but I love that album. It's got such a great feel. Doesn't hurt that it was in the jukebox at my favorite bar in Chapel Hill when I lived there... the soundtrack to many a drunken game of pool.
  13. 'Confined' by Black Harvest. Boy did I wait WAY too long to listen to this. Can't place the guitar tone you're using here but I know I've heard it before and I love it. You'll get your review, I'm sorry I haven't done it yet. So far I've heard Drottnar, Katatonia and Massemord and an assload of Ulcerate...I've no complaints so far, the drums fit better into the mix than the other material I heard on your MySpace page.
Thanks for listening to it, no worries! I'm curious what the guitar sound reminds you of. I didn't consciously model it after anything in particular, just miked up my amp. Also, interesting that you should mention all those bands. Good company to be in. Ulcerate in particular will definitely be an influence on new material, but I hadn't heard them or Massemord when I wrote any of this album's music, and I still haven't listened to Drottnar. "Confined" is probably the most dense song on there; it seems to be the hardest one for people to get into. I'm stoked to hear what you think of the album as a whole. I've added a couple of incidental things between songs since I sent it to you, and it's getting mastered professionally next week - I can't wait to hear what it sounds like!
  14. 'Icarus Burning' by Pantokrator. Kind of curious to see how FA likes this album, the sound is weird to me in certain ways.
I'll check it out and tell you what I think. I've never listened to them before. Have you heard that Sentenced album "North From Here"? I was wondering what you'd think of it as I listened to it this morning. You might not like the production, though.
