  1. I think you're being a bit hard on Van Halen. Yes, David Lee Roth could be insufferable and is very overrated, but the band's post-1984 stuff has some good stuff with quality songwriting: rMV-fenGP1g cFvAFr8uIzM&NR=1
  2. I definitely prefer their old black metal vocals to the newer ones. Still, I think that they've improved musically as time's gone on.
  3. This is pretty cool: 7q4B2_G9lAM
  4. Lil Wayne is shit. He's to hip-hop what Limp Bizkit is to metal. If you want some rap with unorthodox lyrics, check out Dr. Octagon: tjKHQeRSvjk V9VYzNUXGDA
  5. It's really only a medley of boss themes from Thunder Force IV/Lightening Force, yet it is so awesome. I really wish instrumental speed metal like this was being released. 7QuAnyV171g
  6. I listen to Sirius XM, and Liquid Metal is a good station. Ozzy's Boneyard is good, and plays classic metal and hard rock. Lithium is mostly grunge and alt. rock, but they sometimes play metal like White Zombie and Tool. Hair Nation sometimes plays the heavier stuff by bands like Skid Row.
  7. You make a good point about what is extreme today is mainstream tomorrow. As for bands being snubbed by the media, it's all for the sake of a story. They like to build up different trends, then denigrate them to create drama; this goes for almost every genre. And you are definitely right about the popularity thing. If a band puts out good music, then they deserve to sell millions. Trying to keep a scene underground just limits its potential and hurts the bands.
  8. What are your favorite artists and songs? jEJa7t4ST0I _OWxzaraElQ tjKHQeRSvjk x0CZkhQt8xw
  9. Whoops. For some reason, I thought it was from the 90s, as the groove sound at the end has a very 90s feel to it. I do agree that they went more towards groove, but I think that these songs have thrash in them; something of a hybrid sound. Their pure groove sounds would be stuff more like Spiritual Void and Necroshine.
  10. Overkill has some underrated 90s stuff: 5Sb_w09LWyw s8L7RdmJk9U
  11. Bands like Megadeth, Metallica, White Zombie, Ozzy, and Pantera all had massive success during the 90s. I think metal can be popular if it strikes the right cultural nerve and finds the right niche in the pop music market.
  12. I'm talking popular on the level we saw in the 80s and 90s. Do you think metal could ever regain that kind of mainstream dominance?
  13. For a while I wondered why I really like the cover of Rock N Roll. How I realize that it's because that it reminds me of Violator from Spawn:
  14. Half of it is great, half of it is utterly forgettable. That's better than alot of other albums that I've listened to. To be honest, I've reached that point in my life where hardly anything I listen to is a "guilty" pleasure. I like what I like, and if someone is going to judge me for that, then they're the one with problems, not me.
  15. Tool is one of my favorite bands, and yes, they are progressive, sometimes with a touch of Isis-style post-metal. One of my favorite bands, too. I saw them live, and they were amazing. Anyone here a fan of A Perfect Circle? They're not as musically complex, but in some ways, they hit me harder more emotionally than Tool does.
  16. The logo for Motorhead and the king of all metal mascots, he's graced most of Motorhead's albums going back to their first in 1978. So what's you favorite incarnation of Snaggletooth? Mine personally is the one on March or Die. He looks more minimalistic, but with the white coloring, that just makes him look like death itself:
  17. Not metal, but Aerosmith's Just Push Play sent me into clinical depression.
  18. I like some of the music, but I greatly dislike the genre orhodox approach some people approach it with, as well as the hyper-nationalism, hatred, and violence espoused by some of the bands. Also, I think corpse pain looks stupid, though I know not all black metal bands use it.
  19. It's metal interlaced with funk bass rhythms.
  20. In no particular order: Rainbow - Man on the Silver Mountain Judas Priest - Hot Rockin' Nightwish - Storytime Infectious Grooves - Do The Sinister White Zombie - Thunder Kiss '65
