    Books?

Re: Books? Paradise Lost and Dante's Inferno are great reads without question. I too am a comic book fan though admittedly, I'm not as hardcore into it as I was in my youth. I've thought about getting back into it but I've been out of the loop for so long that it would be very expensive to catch up.

    Books?

I personally despise reading, even about things I enjoy; but my wife turned me on to a killer book series called 'Monster Hunters'. We're on the third book and it's a mixture of romance, action, horror & comedy. It's a Romaxihorridy. Check it out here: http://larrycorreia.wordpress.com/mhi-sample/ if you dig fantasy in the Lovecraft vein but with a modern twist you will like what you read!

  11. Re: TESTAMENT - the most underrated Thrash Metal band ever ? 'Demonic' had some good points but it doesn't hold my attention the way it did when I first got it. 'The Gathering' was awful IMO. I don't get the buzz around it and probably never will. Chuck has a good voice and it certainly fits the music but his lyrics don't do it for me. Alex and later Murphy are two of the worlds best guitarists ever, but the songs they shredded on weren't really worthy of their skill. To me, they've been rehashing the same riffs since the 80's and honestly they seem to be riding the nostalgia wave of retro Thrash. The only difference is they were actually around during said period. They don't sound like the founders of the style, they sound like the hordes of imitators that came directly after. There is no argument regarding their musical competency here, rather their lack luster songs, delivery and general ignorance on currant topics.
  12. Re: Slasher movies I never really got into them, but I love gore Metal so go figure, lol. Most are far too mindless and lacking in basic plot for me. If they're funny and don't take themselves too seriously then I find I'm more willing to watch. As luck would have it my mind is blank as to recommendations for said genera. I'll need to think about it, lol.
  13. Re: What's the differnce? Doom is Metal where as Stoner is largely 70's rock and/or heavily fuzzed out modern rock. Doom is far more versatile as there are many styles of it where as Stoner more often than not is nostalgia and nothing more. Bands to check out: Traditional Doom Metal: Candlemass Type O Negative Cathedral Solitude Aeturnus Stoner: Fu Manchu Queens of the Stone Age Spiritual Beggars Bottom

  19. Re: TESTAMENT - the most underrated Thrash Metal band ever ? This is a band that had a little talent but never really used it. Practice What You Preach and Low are the only listenable albums they ever put out. Everything else was just generic, dime a dozen Thrash.
  20. Re: ANNIHILATOR - Canadian ThrashMetal by Jeff Waters Their first two albums were brilliance. They went downhill quickly after that. They have had a few decent albums since then but over all they're relatively bland. Waters should've taken one of the 20 million offers extended to him by Mustaine to join Megadeth.
  21. Re: Gothic Metal I haven't heard their newer material with her yet. I've been told that she's amazing though. I can't believe that I forgot to mention 'Mortal Love'. That band is fucking great! Fairly original and full of sad yet semi uptempo songs. Very much worth checking out!
