  1. Orphaned Land are my faves as well. Myrath from Tunisia are superbly oriental, like 1001 night in metal. Arrayan Path from Cyprus (They spell themselves Arryan Path occasionally or act as Astronomikon.) do have a lot of ancient mythology in their lyrics and a whole lot of folk elements in their music. I would call it Mediterranean Metal if to give a clue for what folk is used. Alien Weaponry from New Zealand use Maori Elements. Ignea from Ukraine are labelled as Oriental Metal in several sources. They do have some folks elements but not that much. They are awesome, nonetheless. Arkan, from France I think, have arab elements as well. I'd love to find some Power Metal with Indian elements.
  2. Budgie from Wales - way too good to ever be forgotten. Songs like : Nude disintegrating parachutist woman Hot as a docker's armpit In the grip of a tyrefitter's hand Crash course in brain surgery Some might know their Breadfan covered by others.
  3. In the best case - both, I would say. Other than that I'm fine with significantly oriental influences in their sound. Are you into that subgenre as well?
  4. Hi there, just joined, hoping to find some kindred spirits and inspiring conversation (or any metal related conversation at all). I am into Prog Metal, Oriental Metal and Powermetal of the world. Amorphis, Arrayan Path, Helloween, Ignea, Katatonia, Myrath, Orphaned Land and Stratovarius are my faves. Methinks, mesmerizing Metal not necessarily comes from the "major Metal nations", but from all over the planet, from Asia over Cyprus and Russia to Zealand and back. (Any recommendations welcome.) Thx + greeetzzz, Dinosaurette
