  1. Ah, so Sardonicist = Luxi. Fuck, now it all makes sense.

Are you suggesting Johan that our lad Luxi should spend his days wandering around the grassy hills and pastures and the native bush of north coast New Zealand looking for fruits and roots? Avocados and mushrooms maybe? I'm not an advocate of the Paleo diet personally, but the fact remains that humans were designed to eat meat. Farming and dairy and of course processed foods are much more recent developments. I agree with not needing meat 3 times a day, but then I think this modern habit of eating several times a day all day long is nuts anyway, which is why I eat one meal a day. I wouldn't eat solely meat that'd just be silly, I have veggies and stuff with my daily meal as well. But I can tell you that my daily meal will always contain some kind of meat or animal protein or fish or something. Always.

I wish I could cut out processed foods altogether but being a lazy entitled American I am surrounded by them and at the store I am bombarded with them. I do cook fresh foods for most meals (except lately I have started getting fish & chips from a local food truck on Fridays that donates the profits to local charities because the kid loves fsh&chp too) but my problem is I am addicted to all manner of sauces and marinades that come in little bottles. Italian, Asian, Indian, Mexican, Dijon, BBQ Medditeranean, Worcestershire, Old Bay, hot sauce....doesn't matter I love them all. Just makes dinner come together that much quicker and taste good.

And dark chocolate. That's my main vice these days after dinner I enjoy a whiskey and a couple pieces of dark chocolate. I rationalize that dark chocolate is good for me and has some kind of health benefits so it's OK,  even though I do feel guilty about the sugar.

The Paleo diet is one I can get behind. I did it for 2+ years and it works as advertised. I had a ton of energy and felt amazing. The lack of bread, which I fucking love, was ultimately my undoing. It is a well rounded diet unlike red meat only or vegan or other nonsense.

I thought it was ok, but it didn't stick with me. I listened to it a few times when it came out and then moved on. Listening back through it now, it feels like there are too many sections that outstay their welcome. Cosmovore has more energy and personality, more feel to the riffs, somehow just more engaging.

    NP: Leviathan - Scar Sighted

Pretty much the same as my assessment. After spinning it again today, I don't have much interest in listening to it again anytime soon.

Very nice release from a new band formed by seasoned musicians. Like this a lot. Nice mix of things.

Fuck... You must be driven mental by now. You're staying at the airport all this time?

No way. Fuck that. I booked a hotel room for the missus and I as soon as I knew we weren't flying. I'm too old to be sleeping in a damn airport.

Playlist for trying to get caught up at work today:

Eternal Champion - Ravening Iron - the more I listen to this the more I like it better than the first which is imo a stone cold classic.

Ulthar - Providence - a pre-order last year I was severely disappointed with. Time to dig it up and give it another try.

Wagner Ödegård - Om Kosmos och de Tolv Järtekn - strange blend of all kind of styles that just works

Torche - Admission - one of their weaker efforts but still catchy as hell

    Sodom - Persecution Mania

Saturnine - Shield the Light in a veil of Darkness - my boys from Jacksonville

A Black Metal Year in Norway

These are some cuts from the film Trondr Nefas (Urgehal (Norway) guitar/vox) was working on when he died on this date in 2012. Posted by the dude who was helping him film and edit it. Looks like it would have been a really cool doco. Even the trailers are fascinating.

Urgehal with Trondr was a great band.

Wow, the effects of pure meat on the brain are obvious here.

The quasi-religious fervor with which people defend their personal (dietary) habits never ceases to amaze me.

That's ridiculous. What's going on over there? Weather?

Suffering Hour - The Cyclic Reckoning (Needs a couple of listens)

Severe weather in Dallas shut the airport down. It's the second largest in the US by passenger volume, so you can imagine the chaos it causes when something like that happens.

  6. Probably sponsored by the International College of Cardiologists. Sure, it probably works short term, but not because of anything special about red meat. It's the lack of processed foods that provides the real benefits.

I like red meat and all, but any diet that preaches one or two groups of food exclusively is never healthy in the long run. And yes, I would include veganism in that statement as well. Humans are omnivores. We need animal proteins from a variety of sources. A diet rich in whole foods that limits or eliminates processed foods and refined sugar is the best for 99% of humanity.

  7. Still trying to get home from Vegas. Fuck American Airlines and fuck Dallas. Sat on the tarmac in OKC last night for 6 hours until they finally cancelled the flight because of the weather in Dallas. At 1am. Nothing to eat open, shitty hotel, blah, blah, blah. May get home by 10pm. That would make it 32 hours since we boarded in Vegas. Fucking bullshit.

So my playlist will be appropriately adjusted to match the mood.

Witch Vomit - Buried Deep in a Bottomless Grave

    Tomb Mold - Planetary Clairvoyance

    Cemetery Filth - Dominion

Perdition Temple - Sacraments of Descension
