  1. Nice, i'll give it a listen tonight & hit you with some feedback.
  2. I definitely agree there, the 2002 show was by far more chaotic & violent, on and off stage. Probably only second to the time i saw The Exploited and found myself wading through a handful of fistfights between Punks & Nazi-Skins just to get a beer. lol. It was actually pretty unexpected. After the show, i struck up a conversation with some punk dude who was heading to a club to keep drinking, so i figured i'd just go and have a couple with him. After a few drinks there, he got into a fight was escorted out. I figured i didn't want to sit there by myself so i walked back towards the train station. Along the way i met some dude in a Marduk shirt that was waiting for a bus, so we started talking about the show. A few minutes later a group of maybe 10 people or so approached us and asked us where they could find a good bar to drink at. We told them and they invited us to come along, so we did. Didn't even occur to me until about 10 minutes later that one of the guys was hellhammer. We went into the pub and found a couple tables to sit at. Next thing i know, i'm having a conversation with Blasphemer about the designs of the tour shirts and how he liked the Australian ones better than the ones in Europe. Dude was even nice enough to unexpectedly shout me a beer. Didn't last for too long though as some dude seemed to offend him and he wound up grabbing the guy by the throat and pinning him to a pool table. It cooled down for a while and then Hellhammer started complaining about there being no Alice Cooper in the jukebox and proceeded to hit it with a pool queue. I left shortly after that because i needed to get a train home. Not sure what happened after that, but it was a trip. Blasphemer seemed like a really down to earth guy, didn't really converse with Hellhammer though.
  3. Thanks brother, and likewise if you guys ever come through Sydney way.
  4. I actually went to the Sydney De Mysteriis show and it was very much the same. Hell, the venue even ran out of beer about 3/4 of the way through the set. I admit i did enjoy the music & theatrics more this time round, in comparison to when i saw them back in (i think it was) 2002 with Maniac which was absolute chaos. I did get to go drinking with Blasphemer & Hellhammer afterwards which was kind of cool though, but that's another story.
  5. Thanks for the recommendations guys, i'll line up the albums and give them a listen when i get home tonight. Hail Requiem, it's a pleasure. Been a long while since i have been to Melbourne, probably a good 20+ years. Need to make my way over there again sometime soon.
  6. Absolutely, I was unsure what to expect myself but a friend insisted i look them up and i wasn't disappointed. You know, it was own pettiness that has caused me to avoid Drudkh for this long, i really should give them a fair chance. Any particular album i should give a spin?
  7. Maybe not the newest album as i don't think it's his best work, i would recommend giving his previous album Arktis. a few spins though to see what you think.
  8. Thanks Balor. My favourites are the more Pagan influenced bands, in particular Kroda, Nokturnal Mortum, Forefather, Zuriaake, Windir, Borknagar, Burzum, quite partial to some Summoning as well. As for more straight up black metal Dark Funeral, Impaled Nazarene, Tsjuder, Destroyer 666, Nifelheim, Advent Sorrow, Ruins, Nazxul. That's just a general rundown, so i hope that helps. Cheers.
  9. Then it appears i am in good company indeed!
  10. All great points, i didn't really take this into account at the time. I already have a booked schedule but if they do make their way out here again and i'm available, i'll certainly give them another shot.
  11. Thanks for the warm response, i like what i have seen thus far so i'm sure i will enjoy my time here. Regards.
  12. I hear you on the Ihsahn stuff, i found the same with post "Anthems" Emperor. It felt like they sacrificed atmosphere & melody for the sake of complexity and i just couldn't enjoy it. His new solo record is decent but i can't see him topping Arktis., which i personally think is one of the best metal releases i have heard. period. Likewise, i was pleasantly surprised by the new Dimmu Borgir. I lost interest after Spiritual Black Dimensions but Eonian brought back a lot of the elements i really loved about the early era records, particularly the slower tempo and swathing keyboards. Classical elements are great. but sometimes i want atmosphere and not technical showmanship. Regardless, i look forward to hearing your thoughts about it, i'll keep an eye out. There is indeed, Immortal & Nuclear Blast Youtube channels released a single of the title track "Northern Chaos Gods" a few weeks back and i'm pretty impressed. It seems with Abbath now gone, they have reverted back to their roots and decided to blow the studio away with sheer speed. Tarja's new one will be a live album. No new material really, but a recording of one of her solo shows titled "ACT II" I can relate 100% about Ghost, and to be honest i still don't like all that much of their back catalogue. Musically the new one is VERY pop-orientated but lyrically it's quite sombre (Hey, we are all about to die so let's dance our asses off). I personally really enjoyed it, but it's a love or hate record, not much room for middle ground.
  13. Good to hear that they put on a good show. I saw them back on the Midian tour in Sydney and it was horrible. The sound was muffled & the band only played for about 45 minutes. Could very well have been the fault of the venue but was still a bit disappointing. As for priorities, i have taken the very same route myself more than once.
  14. The three records i was really waiting for (Ghost, Ihsahn & Dimmu Borgir) have all since been released & thus far i am pretty satisfied. The only other ones i have on my radar are the new Immortal & Tarja Turunen.
  15. What did you think of it? I have Martyre and i just can't get into it. Is it worth seeking out this one instead? Cheers.
  16. This morning: Abbath - Abbath Currently: Abramelin - Abramelin
  17. Good Morning/Evening. A long time metal enthusiast from Sydney checking in. Black & Viking/Pagan metal are where my passions lie, but i do dabble in other genres on occasion. Pleasure to meet you all.
