You're right, I wasn't comparing their music. Bad example maybe, I was just trying to say that even though I don't necessarily like the musician(s) that doesn't mean I automatically don't like their material. That said, I don't really have any problems with either of the two in Satyricon - eccentric as they may be.

I really can't understand all the hate towards Satyricon. I mean sure, Sigurd is a.. special guy, and if Frost said what he was quoted saying above here, it sounds like he needs to get his feet planted on the ground again. But what the hell, I like their music, and I like this new album too. It's like Pantera. I love their music, even though Anselmo is a complete fucking idiot.

    Favourite Vocalist

Corey Taylor, his vocal range is fucking amazing. I love him in both Slipknot and Stone Sour, and his endless sea of guest appearances/covers/step-ins - yeah, dude can sing allright. If I wasn't gonna pick Corey, it'd probably have to be Chris Cornell.

    Mayhem vs Burzum

I think the joke is that Burzum never has, and never will, perform live Edit: Burzum, even though I can't stand Vikernes as a person. I never quite got into Mayhem, the only song I really like is Freezing Moon. Maybe if my fellow countrymen show up on Wacken this year and I can see them live, I'll change my mind.

Filosofem Vs. Hvis Lyset Tar Oss

For me it's Filosofem. Dunkelheit alone is reason enough if you ask me, and I love Beholding the daughters of the firmament. Varg is/was (I don't like his newer stuff, it's just wierd) a musical mastermind, just too bad the guy's an idiot otherwise.

What do you guys think about the new Satyricon album? It dropped this friday, and I've had a few spins this weekend. I listened through it as a whole while kayaking down the calm, still waters in a river deep in the woods yesterday - recommended! I think it's a strong piece of work, and so far 'To your brethren in the dark' and 'The ghost of rome' are my favorites.

When Did You First Get Into Metal?

Ride the lightning was for sure the record that defined my taste in music. I think I was 11-12 when a friend of mine bought that album. We'd listen to it over and over again, and pretend to have concerts in his room. It really blew open my mind, still to this day that record has a special place within me. And then Master of puppets... I was hooked.

    Greetings, fellow princes of darkness

Thanks! Well I listen to alot of different stuff, but I guess my main fix is black metal and melodic death metal. My favourite bands include Behemoth, Satyricon, Enslaved, Mastodon, Tool, Metallica, Slipknot, Slayer, Gojira, Lamb of God, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom... the list could grow long, so I'll just cut it short there
  11. Hi! Metalhead from way up the northern parts of Norway here Eager to explore this forum, and hopefully find some new favourite bands while I'm at it!
