ChainsawAkimbo given a Damn from Natassja in What's on your mind?
Hmm.. i was figuring, since i am super lazy to find new bands to enjoy. Hell, or even take time to look into a band properly that i enjoy some songs from, i am going to take it as my mission to dive more deeply into them. Already started with My dying bride like i stated in their topic, and i've found many songs i really enjoy and never heard before. This will be hugely beneficial to me, and something i really should have put effort towards long ago.
It was as clear as can be here, but to be honest wasn't really that amazing. In no way comparable to the eerie atmosphere a full eclipse creates.

Hello. I've joined this to be able to have more people who like heavy metal to talk to as most people I know hate the genre with a passion.
First metal band I got into was Metallica with the black album. It's great but I quickly moved on to puppets album. I stopped listening to metal in late nineties as was fed up with the scene at the time but a few years ago I got back on the metal train as it was the only music I really connected with when I started listening to old sepultura cassettes which I  unearthed  when I was clearing the house.
Now I listen to all sorts of metal and some outside the box metal which is more individual thanks to metal hammer magazine and bloodstock festival. It would be much more difficult to find great metal without these. Pallbearer, wolves in the throne room, hamferd, nixa, gojira, et moriemur, baroness, acid reign thanks to bloodstock, jonestown, bismuth, dawn ray'd, illimitable dolor, winter sun, mispyrming, early opeth, anthrax, abyssic, slow, immortal, abbath, emperor, sepultura, rotting Christ, megadeth, valkenfyre, anon amarth, death, fear factory, machine head, paradise lost, trollfest etc.some of these bands I only have 1 album of there's I really like or even own.
    Cheers for now ??

Hi and welcome! Nice to see a proper introduction! We have decent people here who come with many different tastes to metal. Personally i have a wide range of musical interests, and i listen to most metal genres, and beyond metal too. My teenage bands were mainly goth, thrash, black and death metal. I hope you enjoy it here, and become a regular! Theres not always a wealth of discussion when you look at the amount, but the quality is par to none i dare to say.
Some "huge" bands for me (The older albums, almost as a rule..). Long list, but i could keep on going forever really..

Vader, Carcass, Sepultura, Shape of despair, Entombed, Trees of eternity, Waste of space orchestra, Gojira, Morbid angel, Marduk, The kovenant, Burzum, Paradise lost, hypocrisy, Forest of shadows, Mayhem, Alien fucker, Waltari, Gorgoroth, Old man´s child, The vision bleak, Wintersun, Dimmu borgir, Lake of tears, Amorphis, Alcest, Nocturnal depression, Make a change.. kill yourself, Theatre of tragedy, Annihilator, Megadeth, Novembers doom, Dark funeral, Arch enemy, Cannibal corpse, Six feet under, Batushka, Deicide, Behemoth, HIM, Celtic frost, Sentenced, Immortal, Dark Tranquillity, Sisters of mercy, The garden of delight, London after midnight, Fields of the nephilim, Rad hot chili peppers, The doors, Electric Six, Apoptygma Berzerk, Diary of dreams, Hocico, Throes of dawn, Informatik, Anathema, Culture Kultür, Lazerhawk.

I'm obviously new to here, been into darker music my whole life. began in the days before there was alternatie and they called it "college rock". I grew up listening to the Cure (i was 12) and progressed in deathrock like Christian Death which I no longer like due to the xtian lyrics, same with Bauhaus. Crossed over into metal through Type-O-Negative and love Draconian and Theatre of Tragedy that things like that. I recently discovered Funeral Doom and love Evoken and recently discovered Atmospheric Black Metal and love Agalloch. As I grow older my mood becomes more doomladen and I'm getting alot more into metal and am coming here to look for bands and inspiration.
I'm glad this place exists and has so much traffic, one of the things i'm hoping is the Schwarze Scene they have in Europe becomes a thing in the U.S. because I think there's stregth in community and industrial, goths, and metalheads all share a common view of the world. If that came to be we could have more festivals that rival those in Europe.
Anyway best wishes and regards and I hope this community continues to thrive.

Like Gods of the Sun is definitely the best album, and the most gothic sounding if that's your thing...I also like the Trinity compilation which is the most traditional doom/death sounding.

We'll be getting it in the next few days - I'll post it when it's up. I'm listening to the audio now and it's actually pretty good for a live recording, sounds better than I had hoped. And maybe some of my mistakes weren't quite as bad as I'd thought

I wish they lived closer, but sadly my folks are in the American South - the boondocks of North Carolina. Their new place is about a 14 hour drive for us. I haven't been able to visit them in a couple years and it sucks, I'm a little worried about them starting over in rural isolation in their 70s.
On my mind: the show was a fucking blast. I could have played better -- a lot better, my ego says -- but the show overall went really well, the music was well received, the venue was killer, the turnout was alright, the other bands rocked. And on the drive back, I fell in love with Maine. Rolling hills and evergreen forests under a blanket of snow, with some deciduous limbs clawing ineffectively at a big, blue sky. Fresh air and miles of wilderness. At least that's how it looked to me. I can't wait to go back. I kinda want to move there.

    1. Dio - Dio pioneers heavy singing into metal, fronting 2 of the greatest metal bands of all in Black Sabbath and Dio - the self titled band. His voice, in my opinion, is unmatched and always brought an electrifying stage presence.

    2. Axl Rose - The ever charismatic front men of metal legends Guns N Roses vocal ability is beyond and above the best in the business bar none. Known to have one of the largest vocal ranges at 6 octaves, his vocals are not only some of the best in metal but some of the best of all time. Furthermore, his on stage charisma and energy is able to match up to the fast and rebellious tones of the guns n roses music and guarantee to get the crowd buzzing.

    3. Ozzy Osbourne - My personal hero. Ozzy, whilst not known as possessing one of the best voices, is without a doubt one of the most significant pioneers in metal. Frontmen of the literal gods of metal Black Sabbath and having one of the most successful solo careers in all of music, Ozzy’s legacy and history is nothing to be laughed upon. There is no doubt the importance of Ozzy, and even at the ripe age of 71 is still touring and remains a must see act even to this day.

    4. Rob Halford - Another pioneer of heavy metal, and another Birmingham alumni like Mr Ozzy osbourne, Rob Halfords vocals are one of the best in the business. Rob can go from soulful, easy to the ear harmonies then to chest pumping roars of power within a click of the fingers. Rob Halfords voice is one of the most recognisable voices in metal, and is proven to be a hitter on any song it features on.

    5. Bruce Dickinson - The fourth vocalist of legends of metal Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson to this day is still one of the biggest and most talented vocalists in the world. Bruce’s vocals are instantly recognisable, as well as being very powerful. On top of all this, Bruce is the survivor of a cancer scare, and even performed around it!

    Honourable Mentions -
    (In No Particular Order)

    Corey Taylor - Slipknot/Stone Sour
    Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin
    Sebastian Bach - Skid Row
    Vince Neil - Motley Crue
    David Draiman - Disturbed
Randy Blythe - Lamb of God
    Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
Serj Tankian - System of a Down
    Jonathan Davis - Korn
    James Hetfield - Metallica
    Dave Mustaine - Megadeth

Scarlet Desire is a Finnish-Greek symphonic metal band. It was founded by Esa Mikkola and Danae Komodromou in 2014 in London, UK. Danae, having studied piano and opera singing for more than 19 years, is an educated classical soprano and great composer. She has a Bachelor's Degree from Music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. She started to compose instrumental music at the age of 11, mostly baroque and classical. Later she started to compose symphonic metal and connected with Esa, who started to help her with the songs. Esa has been playing guitar, keyboards and drums for 26 years. He has played in many metal bands, composed a lot of metal music and studied and worked with sound engineering, producing and mixing and mastering. This combination led to the release of the first single "Cry For Your Name" in 6.12.2019 and will follow-up with other releases in 2020.

I love that sax. One of the guitarists played a lot of the sax parts on the recording. Wish we could have that in the mix for our live show, but it's not gonna happen this time around. Thanks for checking it out!

Just go to the part with sax! Love the mix, even when theres lots of going on, i get no ear fatigue and hear everything really well.. I´ll keep listening..  It will take quite few listens to really get the grasp of everything. So far i like it, in all it´s complexity it´s still quite atmospheric, and the later one is the thing what usually gets its hooks on me.

I'm a 33 years old guy from Hungary.
In my childhood I listened those well-known bands like Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, Metallica... as most of us, I guess.
I was 14 when heard the Midian by Cradle Of Filth. The atmosphere of this record amazed me and opened a gate toward metal music. However, later I listened mainly power metal and some of thrash. But nowadays, for a few years ago, my favorites are, or some of them: Morbid Angel, Carcass, Obituary, Vintersorg, Opeth (rather early), Emperor. Recently I've found the Tomb Mold, probably they will get up on my list.
By the way, for some time I read the forum, especially the "Death Metal" and "Deep and meaningful" sections, and hope to find my place among you.

Got an exciting show coming up tomorrow, it's the album release for the band I recently joined and it'll be my first time on stage with these guys. I'm more than a little nervous, because some of the parts still feel foreign to me, but I guess I'm about as prepared as I can be. All I need now is lots of veggies and a good night's sleep.

I agree about the older stuff being best of all those bands. Guitar, vocals, and drums are also an important part of my life which supports my views, at least I believe. Slayer with Dave Lombardo and Jeff Hanneman,  as well as Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow were better. I have enjoyed the evolution of Cannibal, as both Chris Barns and George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher are amazing vocalists. From Kreator, Morbid Angel, Death, Jungle Rot, Deicide, Kataklysm, Obituary, Children Of Bodom, Cradle Of Filth, Carcass, to Cavalera Conspiracy, my top listened bands are always varying as I move on to devour the next.
