Glad you enjoyed the show, I'd love to be going to a show, but nothing even on my radar.

I've been learning to play my arpeggios all in a single position with a circular or looping around sense of scale degrees if it makes sense to put it that way. It's pretty gratifying. Also I'd like to add to skull crushing that it is the bass's obligation to always know what cord is up on the cord progression. Also bassists ought to define the outer edge of the bands overall look. It is the bassist who should look the coolest off all the band members in other words, if the band is generally cool looking.
Case in point.
And as if that was not enough...
there is this dude here.

I've been enjoying polishing my cast iron cook stove. It hasn't been this black in over a decade, not by a long shot.

There is a copy of Instinctus Bestialis at my work and I put it on pretty often. I don't know how it rates in the grand scheme, but it's their only album I know and I like it well enough. Some parts of it are really sublime and heavy.

Really can't prepare much... I wish I could go to the laundromat and wash my thermals, though. I've never gotten the bread and milk thing. What's the deal with that anyway? It's cold, we're stuck inside... I know, let's have bread soaked in milk! Perfect!
I think it's best taken as a metaphor, or rather as standing for whatever staples you rely on.

I wanted to point out that Santaria might be the sexist religion in the world. If you have your doubts you might want to look into it. Also I'm wicked turned on by Esperanto at the moment. I might be getting ready to make some serious life changes.

I got a reprint of the Live Candlemass album for '94 or so. It was %75 off and I uses my points at the record store and got it for $3.69 or so down from $28 something. Not too shabby.

Went to the memorial for my best friend yesterday. He had a shitty life, very poor with very few opportunities. He was my metal brother. I will always miss him. He was only in his early 30s.
Sorry about all that Parker, hope you OK.

My Facebook feed makes it seems like Trump will soon be jailed for treason. I'm I living in a reality bubble or is this for real?

Race is indeed a thorny issue, but it needs to be discussed. The Orwellian thing that is going down right now is that federal agents are going door to door in the U.S.A. demanding to see peoples papers, following a leader who does not speak in complete sentences. Anyway we have all got major errors in thought, and we need to deal with them with an open mind. Many people are glad to see the Trump administration in power, and are enthusiastic about a wall going up on the Mexican border, and want to see illegal aliens ejected from "American soil", let's open up a thread and get down to it. I'm ready to try and talk about such things with a clear head. I know it's not my vision for M'erica that we do those things, but talking it out is definitely part of my vision. As for Parker's complaint about the sensibility of a term, I regard that as chaff, I want to talk about race. I know that I believe that race and culture should be fun and interesting, and that the more diverse our communities can be the more interesting they will be, but People like me need to hear other ideas and such. I've been advised to try and make myself persuadable.
This post does not quite do what I hoped it would I guess, but this forum is a fine place to air out some of the dirty laundry in our minds. I guess civility was lacking in Dr. Trashy Boozers anti-commie rant and he got booted. He never said much about metal that was of interest to me, but that is besides the point.
This world is looking more and more dangerous to me all the time. We may be headed for a total disaster with the methane on the ocean floor. I've heard that in 9 years it might just boil up and elevate temperatures 20 degrees. Is that possible? What are we going to do about it? In this thread someone might open I'll try to be persuadable that we might be OK for a few hundred years during which time we might learn how to live on this planet like a species with a sense purpose.

Why is it always Helloween or Running Wild? Why can't it ever be Blind Guardian or Running Wild? IMO BG hit more home runs then Helloween as well. Follow The Blind, Imaginations From The Other Side, Nightfall In Middle Earth, and Somewhere Far Beyond all get a big tick in my books. Running Wild still come out on top though.
I haven't really heard any Blind Guardian I don't think. You make me want to check them out.

Being able to play by ear, and beyond that to be able to play what you imagine in your head has got to be tops. That is where I'd love to be, but it seems you've got to wear the thing all day to get like that.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! That's the first time I have ever gotten a music theoretician to admit to that! So, in theory, we could just use 12 letters. But, I'm not going to get every one in the western world to change over to new names for the notes. So, again, I just have to get over this sharp/flat thing and deal with it if I want to know anything about music theory. Damn, all this stuff is confusing. However, as I said earlier, you do a very good job explaining things.
Hey Parker, I wonder if in your practicing you ever play scales working your way around the circle of fifths, that might help your understanding of flats and sharps. Also, if you read music, I wonder if you dig however regular and straight forward the staff looks the hiccups between the B to C and Between E and F are not shown on the staff, so there is a weird compression in the distances portrayed there (I very recently realized this and found it kind of mind blowing since the musical staff has the look of something so regular).
Contemplating the existence of only two hole tone scales that have no beginning points, but evenly divide up the 12 available tones (they are six note scales scales of whole tone intervals), and than coming to grips with the many diatonic scales baring in mind they really have only 7 distinct notes, not 8 are we usually think of them, with various patters of half and whole tones could help your understanding of sharps and flats. Contemplating that A is the relative Minor of C will also help one get their mind around the use of sharps and flats.
This particular circle of fifths does a good job of showing how you might reasonably choose sharps or flats to deal with the key signatures at the "bottom" of the circle. Also it shows the relationships of the majors to their relative minors which helps me see the function of the sharps and flats in general.

Welcome to the forum. I like the little bit of Opera I know about, especially the Italian stuff you mention. Do you play percussion in the opera?

I can dig it Macabre, but I got to say if I had a band I'd promote the shit out of it.

I'm not one to give a shit about football either, but I've got to admit that was a pretty thrilling game. Ate a lot, also single handedly drank a bottle of wine with out getting buzzed.

Maybe all over New England, I don't know, Like saying it's a stones throw. I guess "spitting distance" is the actual phrase people use, don't people say that in every English speaking country?

Welcome Michael.

I don't think you could spit from Lowell to Dunnwitch...
Today I'm declaring the day I get started on a black metal solo opus. My plan is to bust it out more or less, so I'll keep you posted. It will go by The Pillars of Chaos as a working title.
