Personally I was really disappointed with the lords of summer, and unfortunately not surprised! It seamed really directionless and forced, and believe me I really wanted to love this!
There are two big issues with Metallica as far as I am concerned -
1. Rob Trujillo - you can't hear him. Why have one of the best bass players in the world in your band and then take him out if the mix (as they did with Jason Newstead most of the times)
2. Lars Ulrich - whilst he may have cut it in the 80s, the guy just does nt stack up against, Joey Jordinson, Gene Hoglan, Ryan Joost Van Poederooyen, today. It just sounds a bit pedestrian to me I am afraid.
James is still the vpbest rhythm player in metal though!
At the moment, Opeth, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Periphery, Alterbridge, Rammstein, Sacred Mother Tongue, Lamb of God, are usually on Rotation
Amp wise I use a Line6 Spider Valve, which kicks some serious air movement.
Guitars, a Gibson Les Paul Custom, and Schecter Damien Elite 8 are my main guitars, although I also have a Fender Stratocaster with a Jeff BEck Hotrails in the bridge, this is tuned to Open C a la Devin Townsend.
