  1. Agreed. Be it that mp3's were not so close, I'm sure they would of taken over a good chunk of the market. I enjoyed having mine while it lasted. I felt like a technological genius slotting them lovely plastic squares into my mini disk player. Made a much better sound than them damn CD's.
  2. sorry if this is in the wrong section. I'm looking for a confident person to do a review of my bands new single. If you do that sort of thing and fancy it, sling me a private message. I would also be interested in hearing any peoples opinions on it, however brutal. please post any opinions below. *Video is in my signature*
  3. Then we are going to get on famously. I'll just view you like Basil Fawlty.
  4. Records because they look better, they are more interesting. CD's because they are more interesting than mp3's. (Artwork) MP3 because its the easiest, cheapest and only way you can have all the music in the world with you while roaming this fine country. Anyone remeber MiniDisk Players?
  5. Working on that theory? I'm probably going to bring it all on myself.
  6. Korn Lowrider is a really short piss take on the "Life is peachy" album. Check it out, good for a laugh.
  7. Stand about in a room, with instruments in hand until one of you plays Something you like the sound of, then play along. Continue to do this for hours and eventually structure will kick in. At the 5 min mark call it a day. Record it, make a video. Then start again. Personally I would never start with the vocals. We usually end with vocals, or have them come half way in to help structure, or see whats missing (or what we have too much of) Other tips - Don't pay too much for recording or a video. ~ Play as many shows as humanly possible. ~ Don't expect to get anywhere within any reasonable amount of time ~ Don't be scared of a younger audience, they are less influenced. They go out to have a good time and don't cast judgment. Few to keep you going.
  8. Nah, you can use the same rule twice here... wait. No yeah, more than twice.
  9. Not sure its working. I have a friend who Had a similar view to you. They are quite mainstream and sometimes that is a barrier people struggle to get past. I must admit songs like redneck probably lost them a good chunk of the market. I think your being picky by comparing them to other bands such as Pantera. I agree, like most bands, there Are certainly strong qualities that stand out from one band to another. This does not make them generic, or ripping off anyone else. One thing Lamb of god have brought is Groove style patterns into that genre of metal.(maybe not the first, though have done it particularly well) Despite having certain similarities to other bands(like most bands), they Have brought something to the table. Therefore in my opinion, deserve more than just being called overrated. I personally like his vocals. admittedly not the best or strongest in the world.
  10. haha yeah another brick in the wall is quite a guilty pleasure but I do love it.
  11. I'd first like to state that I HATE amateur bands who write their own material and then try to do a carbon copy of another bands song smack damn in the middle of their set. I've been guilty of it, I'm sure we all have. As for a famous band doing a cover, I'm sorry. I know i will get hated for putting this up here. I cannot help but think this is a fantastic cover, in all aspects.
  12. Not sure if a rap/metal style band can be included. Rapping is a whole new ball game in the world of lyrics. Even some of what people class as the "Best" rappers in the world use some proper shit lines.
  13. "In my opinion" Joe Was a fantastic drummer. You could recognize his style, which I personally enjoy. Though, I played with his new band not long back "Scar the Martyr" and was heavily disappointed. His playing was sloppy, his beats were uninteresting. It was as if he had lost his spark. I'm guessing that was slipknot. The rev was another drummer with a distinctive style. I believe this is what helps them shoot to the top of the lists. Obviously a famous band around you helps. ~ Again "In my opinion" *Technically they were both Alright by the overall drumming standards. Although in terms of Distinctive style and writing more mainstream listenable, lovable songs. They were both near the top. Lets be honest they 'aint no buddy Rich
  14. Most of them are fair, though I'm interested in what you find lyrical genius? Example of some well constructed lyrics? I feel this will be a bit of a taste battle, interesting never the less.

  16. Not sure how you can class a band such as Lamb of God as Overrated. They are more mainstream than a lot of mental bands in similar brackets of metal. Though that's part of what makes them so great. Their listenable, intense riffs make them accessible for both hardcore metal fans and people who enjoy the occasional listen to the darker side of metal. Paired up with unique vocals and one hell of a fantastic (inventive) drummer. They are a great band to listen to when you just want something Fast-Funky and Heavy, but also they are admired by musicians across the board.
  17. Being new i thought the easiest way of getting to know people would be to make my own thread, rather than start posting in the ones with at least 17 pages. I'm sorry if this is a repeated thread. I can't find one with this topic, so here goes! By worst, I mean the sort of lyrics that no matter how good the song, no matter how amazing the riff. You can't help but dislike it or just want to turn it off. The songs you wont show people or admit you like because the lyrics are that bad. I'll start with Emmure - Drug Dealer Friend. I cannot even begin to imagine how the other members of the band must of felt when they brought this great riff to the vocalist, to whom walked into the studio, recorded this. Then walked out looking happy with himself while the other guys just sat there with their mouth open in disbelief. How little must people need to try to impress the youth of today. You're going to watch her what....? Fantastic band, great song, funny yet horrendous and weak lyrics.
