  1. Yes, I know some religious people may push it onto others, but I don't ever see it in music, remember that's what we're talking about here. I don't hear songs condemning non-believers, that's outside of music. And why do you say I put Atheist and Satanists in the same category? To answer you, I don't- that's why I listed them separately, and atheism is the denial of any deity, which is part of many branches of Satanism. So many Satanists are Atheistic Satanists, but not all Atheists are Satanists, hence why they are listed separately- to avoid putting them in the same category.
  2. I recently came across the guy that covers Iron Maiden songs on an acoustic guitar, I'm here to share some. This isn't me, I'm not self promoting, I'm not taking credit for this guys work. I just want more people to know about him. Thingfishy - YouTube
  3. (edited) I messed up, somehow I read a really early message and it wouldn't make sense here.
  4. I agree with what you asking, is anti-religion really necessary? When was the last time you heard a band sing about anti-atheism? I know I haven't. I want to know why anti-religious people talk about it in their music, when religious people don't discus anti-anti-religion. This is just something to think about. Nonetheless, I still enjoy music regardless of lyrical content. I really enjoyed To Hell With God from Deicide, I just wish they would wouldn't bash Christianity. Another thing that makes me wonder, is why Satanist and atheist bash something they don't even believe in, that seems a little unproductive to me. By bashing religion, you're acknowledging its existence and bringing attention to it.
  5. It's interesting that you mentioned this album. Just a year or two ago I was in the record store. Sometimes I have an album in mind and at other times I suffer from withdrawal of "not-enough-albums" so I just go look around and see what I find. I was in the "T"'s and saw Testament- Dark Roots of Earth. My first thought was "Wow, that cover looks really cool." I then realized that I had never listened to Testament before. I knew how big they are, I knew the name, and I knew how much people talked about how "they should replace Metallica." With that, I decided to buy my first Testament album. Remember, I had never listened to them before, so I had no idea what I was in for. My first time listening through I was absolutely blown away. I was driving around and had the stereo cranked up. When I first heard the opening to Rise Up, all I could think was, "damn." I was singing along shouting WAR! back to Chuck whenever he said "Rise Up!" It certainly made me feel like I was a part of the song, and made listening to it so much more fun. As for the rest of the album, it was the greatest thing ever. My opinion may be biased since I heard Dark Roots before I heard anything else. Since then, I have revered Dark Roots of Earth as my favorite Thrash album. Everything about the album is perfect. Sometimes I will critique an album for having bad drumming, other times I will notice mismatched vocals, but with Dark Roots there is nothing I can complain about. I just find it interesting that both of us picked it up without knowing much about Testament and as it sounds, blown away. I will leave you with this tip, if you ever see an album with a cool cover, buy it.
  6. I am a huge Rock and Metal fan. I spend a lot of time searching the internet for something metal/rock-related, whether it be something factual I want to know, or something opinionative I want to see how others think. A lot of time I end up on forums, obviously. I'm really not that big into computers and technology- (I know alot about computers and how to use them, but this next part is what I mean)- I've never been a part of any social networks, but I decided to give a forum a try- I am very different then most of my peers and don't have many friends so I finally decided that I should try joining a forum, so that not only can I make friends, I can make metal-friends. So I searched google for "Metal forum" and looked through the first two pages. Eventually, after narrowing it down to two, I decided I like this one the most after looking over topics and activity. So here I am, as you can see this is my introduction. A bit about my music-side now. I really like most anything in the whole rock-metal spectrum. I enjoy the classics; ACϟDC, Kiss, and Van Halen. And then there's my Metal Side; I listen to almost anything metal. I listen to Classic Metal like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. Then theres my extreme side, with Thrash; Sodom, Tankard, Testament. Death; Deicide, Vader, Sacrificium. I am a fan of Power Metal too, I really like Iron Savior and many more. I have just recently began experimenting with Black Metal. In the past I always heard the low quality Black Metal which discouraged me from listening to the genre. Just a few days ago I decided to give it another try. I ended up listening to Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Satyricon and Immortal. I must say, the Black Metal that actually has good quality is very good. I will be listening to more in the near future. Apart from Metal, I said I like rock. Well, I also really like "soft" music. Slow ballad types songs, though the song doesn't necessarily have to be a ballad. I guess you could actually say I'm just a fan of instruments. There are so many soft songs that have a beautiful guitar section. A lot of times I notice that these softer songs are actually harder than I thought to play on guitar. Neal Schon from Journey literally shreds sometimes (Still They Ride solo), but stays soft amazingly. Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoy hearing someone aggressively shred their guitar. So as I said earlier, I enjoy hearing instruments, I enjoy symphonic type music. Bach, Mozart, and Vivaldi to name a few. What I really like is Folk/Celtic style music though, I really like the sound of a well played flute or hurdy-gurdy; instruments not commonly associated with rock or metal. As you can see I am new here, I don't know if this is longer than what the administrator wanted, my apologies if it is. This is just a little about me. If there's anything you want to know that I didn't address just post a reply or message me. I will try to answer whatever I can, I don't know how active this forum, or even this section is, so I don't know how much traffic will come to this thread, but I will answer what I can.
